The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway's Phase 1 is making great progress! It's expected to open for public in November 2024, starting from Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) section. This 32 km access-controlled stretch includes elevated sections and a separate six-lane service road for local traffic. It has seven entry points and three exits for traffic between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and the best part is, No tolls for commuters entering and exiting the expressway in Delhi.
Key Features of Phase 1:
- Elevated Sections: The expressway includes elevated sections, ensuring smooth traffic flow.
- Entry and Exit Points: Seven entry points and three exits will facilitate traffic movement between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
- Toll-Free Travel: Commuters entering and exiting the expressway in Delhi won't be charged any tolls.
- Service Road: A separate six-lane service road will cater to local traffic.
Once completed, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours from 5 hours, making it an attractive option for travellers. The project's total length is 210 kms, connecting Delhi to Dehradun via Saharanpur, and is estimated to cost around ₹13,000 crore.
The expressway will also have two spurs, or link roads, to ensure connectivity with nearby cities: the Saharanpur-Roorkee-Haridwar Expressway and the Ambala-Shamli Expressway.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is also called The Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Expressway.
This Expressway constructed on two states and one UT- Delhi [UT], Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and crossed on several cities including Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli and Saharanpur.
The advantages of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be improved tourism in Delhi, Dehradun and other locations connected with this Expressway.
The expressway isn’t just about reduced travel time, but it is also about the residential and commercial developments taking place near this expressway. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is giving way to many real estate projects around the area. The easy connectivity of this expressway has instigated many real estate developers to come up with their apartments and plots around the expressway.
This project is being constructed in total 4 phases,
- Phase A - Delhi to Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE)
- Phase B - EPE to Saharanpur
- Phase C - Saharanpur to Rajaji National Park
- Phase D - Rajaji National Park to Dehradun
The top speed allowed on the expressway will be 100 km per hour.
