Thanks for the info !!! I will be putting mine thru the power test this weekend.. Hopefully I getting he 100 watts on ssb.. not the 60 alot of hams have said their radio is putting out... Not so sure I want to try the mod... I have not cracked the case yet to see how hard the soldering will be... ??? Hope for the best. And thanks again ☺️
Hello Tom, I was watching one of your videos some time ago and a series of spikes ran across the scope. You mentioned what is was but I can 't remember. What causes that?
Those are from an ionosonde. The U.S. government (and probably others) operate a number of these to probe the current ionospheric conditions. It is a transmitter that sends a group of pulses across a broad range of frequencies and a matching receiver that looks at the signal strength of return pulses. They can determine Maximum Usable Frequency (MUF) among other things.
