Dude, its so weird, I literally NEVER have this beer at home, but damn it if its not ALL I drink when I go eat at the Mexican restaurant right down the street. It always just hits different there!
That is wild! Yeah, it's crazy how vast the beer offerings are at some Mexican restaurants. I've had some that I can't find outside of the restaurant, which is funny. This is one of my favorites. Just love that rich malt character, and I think that is why it pairs so well with food. Cheers, Joe!
No doubt! It's so weird drinking beers like this in a setting such as a beer review. So many of these beers are consumed by me (and others) in much different circumstances, that it's wild to sit down and try to break it down. This one actually came off better than I remember, which surprised me. Regardless, tasty and consistent, for sure! Cheers, Mike!
No doubt, Dan! A great beer for most occasions, easy to find, and pretty damn good. That six pack in my fridge will treat me well over the next little bit, haha! Cheers, brother!
Got 3 tall boys 1 highlife 1 modelo Negra 1 blue Moon, summertime brew😂s, solid Macros, this is almost Vienna meets Dunkel meets Cervesa. I think by design.
Speaking of brazilian steakhouses my mom was born in Brazil 🇧🇷. I really like the beer you reviewed but you should of ordered at the brazilian steakhouse xingu black it's a really good brazilian black lager. Salud aka cheers 🍻
I will totally do that next time I'm there, Billy! Appreciate the suggestion. I'll have to review it too, as long as I can find a bottle of it! Thanks, buddy! Salud, dude!
How does this compare to other american craft Munich Dunkel styles, and the ones from germany? I've had this but not much else in the style. Is it more "toned" down?
Good question, and I think the "toned down" phrase makes sense. For me, it boils down to those authentic German offerings, and the fresh American ones we get here, have a little more overall character and robustness to them. In the review, I mentioned the taste being dialed back like 15-20% as far as intensity goes from the nose. I think with the better ones within the style, that doesn't happen. Outside of that, the flavor profile is akin to many others out there style-wise. It just so happens to be mass-produced and available all over. Cheers, man!
@@averagejoe716 Cheers, price point helps. You wont spend 20$ for a four pack. For a mass produced one this probably represents the style better than Becks or heineiken with regards to their own styles.
Its 10.99 and 18.99 in my area as well and its not worth it to me at those prices. I'd take it over Boston Lager sure but not over some other Sam offerings.
Yeah, it all depends for me. I really enjoy it for what it is, so $10.99/6 pack is fine by me. There are definitely some other Sam offerings I'd take over it, as well, but if we're talking strictly beers from bigger breweries that are readily available (aka no seasonals or rotating offerings), then this is up there for me. Cheers, Chaz!
Dont know how you got a born on date? All i see the Best Before. Bought a 12 pack, a month ago, and the Best Before was like 2-3 months away. Bought another 12 pack yesterday, and the Best Before is 5 months away, and i notice a difference. So are they giving this 6-7 months in the bottle? And the 12 pack bottles, are 15.99....Cheers!!!
There was a code underneath the "BB AUG 24" date that read something like L113 and then a few other numbers that don't apply to the date. A lot of big breweries use the letter as the month, so in this case, L = December. The next two numbers are the day of the month, so the 11th. Then the final number is the year, so 2023. Put it altogether and it's 12/11/23. Not sure if your bottles had/have the same code, but that's how I figured it out. Cheers!
@@averagejoe716 My bottle says...BB NOV 2024.....C114R159 06:29..the "R", could be an "A'. Good thing, they make it nice and easy, the find the born on date.
Yeah, so the born on date would be 03/11/24. C = March, 11th day, 2024. It's not ideal, for sure. I hate lot/date codes and Julian dates. Kind of ridiculous.
Good information. Honestly, I always refer to it as Negra Modelo, and not the other way around, but it's officially titled Modelo Negra, which is why that's what's in the title and what I referred to it as in the review. I don't drink it ice cold, either. This was probably right in that range. The pour wasn't the best, but it still tasted quite good. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
Thank You! This beer is my staple rn. Its a beer only true beer drinkers know abt.
It's definitely a delicious beer, especially from a macro brewery. I could drink quite a few of these, for sure.
Cheers, Josh!

I fucking love a nice cold Modelo Negra in the summer. My uncle got me hooked! Cheers, Joe!
Nice, dude! Yeah, this one is good all year-round. Glad you love it, man!
Cheers, Michael!
Cheers Joe! I would certainly pick this one over the especial as well. Such an underrated beer for what it offers!

@@averagejoe716 i also got an 8th of Desert Lime from my local dispensary in Arizona. Tostadas for munchies! Desert life is absolutely superb.
Modelo is a very respectable beer - saludos a Modelo
Agreed. Between this and the Especial, I could be set for my macro fix. I prefer this, but they're both tasty!
Salud, buddy
Damn tasty brew. It’s a top 3 Mexican lager for me. Cheers 🍻!
Same here, man. So damn good! I had another the one the other night and it was nice crushing it without reviewing it, haha!

Don't order "Modelo Negra" in Mexico. It's Negra Modelo or simply "una Negra". Remember, 2 fingers of foam and not ice cold. 6-8 C.
