Dave and Marty are both perfect for this band because one writes blistering fast shredding solos and one writes melodic all along the fretboard solos. They balance each other out perfectly.
Seriously do the people who are filming this hate Ellefson not to have him on camera a lot more than a second(average)? I notice this a lot on the videos for Rock In Rio.
Considering Mustaine wrote half the songs for 'No Life 'Till Leather" Mustaine was vital to Metallicas success. Mustaine has been, and will always be, my hero. \m/

If you want playing style, listen to classical, if you want fast riffs, listen to some "impossible guitar hero music", if you want classical guitar solos, listen to hendrix. If you want all of that, so many times better that makes your heart beat faster, your blood boil, and your head to explode with all the coolness of them, listen to Megadeth.
I wrote probably. I guess I'm not the only one that think that way. I mean, all of marty's solos are great, some of them are really fucking great. But there's something special with dave's solo in the punishment due. It's just great!

I don't think it is. If you check out the video at around 15-16 seconds you can clearly see two metal stripes across the neck pickup. The Seymour Duncan (which Mustaine switched to later on) didn't look like that, but had a more traditional humbucker look to it. The Lawrence is the same Dimbag and Nuno had also used at various points in their careers.

Wrong. Metallica started with Hetfield and Ulrich (and Mc Govney). After that, they were searching a second guitarist. But they were already a serious band. If Mustaine didnt answer the ad, someone else would have. And Metallica would have start without Dave. But thanks God, Mustaine answered. :-)
I'm not a guitar hero n00b, I like both songs before Guitar Hero came out, but I do like Hangar 18 a bit more than this one, mainly for the main harmony riff during the verse, but I still love the second half of this song (The Punishment Due), especially that part where Dave starts playing again. Rust in Peace as a whole is Megadeth's best album without a doubt though. The only song I don't love is Dawn Patrol, and that's because I felt like they could have gone further with the songs theme.
