@@17w I’m so glad you decided to join us! 😆🤩 I only really got into musical theatre when I was about 13…and I have never looked back! Thank you for watching, I am honoured to have even played a minor role in furthering your love of theatre! 🤭
Montage is my favorite number from Follies. I dislike it when productions opt for singular performances for the three or end it solely with the Hattie number and lyrics. I also appreciate the original concept for this number, where Solange was the climax instead of Hattie. However, during the tryouts in Boston, Ethel Shutta delivered an outstanding performance as Hattie, leading to her receiving top billing over "Ah, Paris". What I love about it is how it sandwiches the showstopper and still ends with a bang - for example, Rain on the Roof - Broadway Baby - Ah, Paris - Broadway Baby - Rain on the Roof - Montage. The last time this format was used was during its run in Boston. Nonetheless, I also appreciate the current version but I really would like to see some production use the original concept with Broadway Baby as the 'sandwiched showstopper'. I just love that you included the montage ending. Great video!
@@bnjrbnjr522 That’s really great to hear, I don’t often hear of people’s opinions on Follies, especially this number. It’s my favourite number from Follies too (along with ‘I’m Still Here’ of course)! I must say the big highlight for me is always Broadway Baby but I think it’s because I enjoy performing it more. 😁 But I agree, I would love to hear what the Montage would sound like if ‘Ah Paris’ was the main showstopper, that would be amazing! 🤩 I simply HAD to do the Montage ending, to me, the fact that three different songs, all with different ending-sounds, come together so beautifully and energetically is, to me, one of the greatest creations in musical theatre. Thank you for watching, I appreciate your kind words so much. 😊
Yesterday I started my journey of getting into theatre more and i ran into this and it’s inspiring me to keep going further with it this was great!
