Riverside in 15 minutes. That's flying!

The Last grade crossing in your video is significant. That's where the April 1946 collision occurred between the "Advanced Flyer" when it was rear ended by the "Exposition Flyer". Forty-Seven were killed in the carnage. A memorial to the lost is located on the south track of the Naperville Station platform.

OMG! I grew up in Naperville! My mom used to commute by train into the city so I know this route well! I actually remember when the building to the left, as the train pulls out into the open sky, used to be rather grungy looking back in the early 80s. Lol! Glad it's been cleaned up.

Lots of full interlockings on this line. One notable exception is the one just east of Naperville. Its sole purpose is getting express trains to and from Chicago on the center track. There’s only two Naperville expresses each way now but there were a lot more pre-pandemic.

This route shares the track with Metra BNSF line. Not sure if I ever want to take a long distance Amtrak ride though.
