If you're going to hang something over still live electrical wires, you should add a cover plate over the electrical box. They're like $1.50 and will make the whole thing so much more safe!
A proper cover might even be required where you removed the light fixure, either by National Electrical Code or more local addendum. Regardless, it is a smart move for safety. What you have there now seems to fit the definition of a junction, even if it is no longer powered. A junction must be enclosed in a covered box, and it must not be drywalled over or enclosed by wall finishing. Please get the correct cover and install it or have an electrician do it. Your artwork will hide it nicely, and that is permitted.
Don’t know how much space Lottie needs when she’s inside, but maybe you could put a shelf inside the cabinet at the very top and keep any cat related items there. Like the scoop for the litter. It would be the cat central cabinet!
What a cute hack! So you asked about the wall color I would definitely leave the wall color not sure about the cabinet because it kind of blends in with the wall but if that was what the objective was that it didn’t stand out then you accomplished and it looks really really good. It still looks really really good whether that was what she wanted or not I just think the cabinet that you made that’s really cute just kind of blends in with your wall.

All cats are different and im sure lottie uses hers but just a had up in case anyone else is considering buying it. Love that you’re going all out to make kitties WC stylish, Alexandra 😸
I love how versatile the Ivar line is. I have the shallower cabinets in my kitchen as upper cabinets, a huge shelf system in my office, I’m using one of the bookshelf units for basement storage, and I “made” a wardrobe by attaching the deeper Ivar cabinet and the chest of drawers and adding legs, which is now my pantry/tool storage. And I just cut one of the extra shelves down to size to replace a missing shelf on my bar cart. First time I’d used my circular saw! I guess what I’m saying is we stan Ivar in this house. I don't have a cat but this looks like a great hack. My only question is the placement of it. If you aren't placing it in a bathroom, wouldn't it be better to have it further away from the kitchen? I guess I just can't imagine preparing food and having any potential smells wafting into the food prep area. Perhaps a cat person can enlighten me and there are ways to ensure that the smell doesn't travel but just on a basic level, I would've thought that having it so close to the kitchen and/or living room where you relax, perhaps wouldn't be ideal?..
There’s really no way to prevent smell, especially since it’s s open (door + see thru caning). There are deodorizers that kind of cover or mask the smell. Really, very frequent clean is the best bet. My cat has an enclosed box with a door and honestly you barely ever smell it. I’d be more put off by the sound and idea of them scratching away in my living room/kitchen area. @@okanaganblonde4095 Thanks for the info. That makes total sense that it would be super challenging to limit the smell with the openness of the litter box she designed. I think this just confirms that I'm going to wait until I'm in a house with more space and ideally a completely separate bathroom to put a litter box in.

Personally I'd also paint the vent cover up top to make it 'disappear'

Love the concept and the color, but I'm confused - did you soak the cane for the second panel? The first panel came out beautifully, but seems like the second ended up rippling a bit. Was that just natural variation, or did you try a different method that gave slightly different results?
I wanna know where you got that pink shirt, its so cute! Also those cute sweaters with the pom poms- the dark green one specifically. I love your style. Please do a video on your style or something.
I'm a bit late watching this but absolutely love it and has given me an idea of a wall for my tiny hallway and that will include Hacking a cupboard, thank you so much for your free design ideas
Next time you should mitre the corners of the trim… Would look a lot better 😉. Also, I agree with your original thought….I think that wall should be white to make your space flow better. Although I love the colour, you are correct, it breaks the space and stops the eye.
Safety tip. The old light connection that is not being used should have a blank coverplate/wallplate. There are various sizes and shapes You may also want to talk to Xico about using the old light connection to hang your picture. It is likely not safe.
I think the wall looks great green! And I know it's in your kitchen now as well. .So....You could also bring some of that color into the living space to keep the flow.....perhaps by painting the window wall or the tv wall??
@@sarahholland2600 I get you... but when I say exact thing... I mean it's the same cabinet from IKEA, the same form for the door cut-outs, and the same material for the screen, just a change in paint color. I don't know, maybe she forgot Danie did it and it stayed in her subconscious... 🤷
You can also use an end table and cut a hole on a side 😁 a friend did that. She only opened the door to clean the area and litter box. She placed washable contact paper inside for easy clean up.

This was killer. Loved the functionality masked by the beautiful camera.
Lookit you using staplers and jigsaws!!! Keep expanding.
I'm a bit late watching this but absolutely love it and has given me an idea of a wall for my tiny hallway and that will include Hacking a cupboard, thank you so much for your free design ideas
Next time you should mitre the corners of the trim…
Would look a lot better 😉. Also, I agree with your original thought….I think that wall should be white to make your space flow better. Although I love the colour, you are correct, it breaks the space and stops the eye.
Lol, can you just see Alexandra doing the mitre with her utility knife...
You can use it for your dog too....dogs like a den. Easy to hide the bed 😁
I actually like the wall in green, the color kinda bounces off of the indoor plants and leaves outside and it's all tied together
Safety tip.
The old light connection that is not being used should have a blank coverplate/wallplate. There are various sizes and shapes
You may also want to talk to Xico about using the old light connection to hang your picture. It is likely not safe.
This is a great cover for a cat box…! 👍🏼👍🏼👣🩴
I love it with the wall painted!
Literally don’t even have a cat but could never miss one of Alexandra’s uploads. 😂

I think the wall looks great green! And I know it's in your kitchen now as well. .So....You could also bring some of that color into the living space to keep the flow.....perhaps by painting the window wall or the tv wall??
Your cat is so so adorable
Thought this looked extremely familiar - it's cause your friend DIYDanie did this exact thing in Feb2020... (minus cat door)!😅
To be fair , every decor You Tuber I watch has done a 'hidden cat litter tray' furniture piece 😁
@@sarahholland2600 I get you... but when I say exact thing... I mean it's the same cabinet from IKEA, the same form for the door cut-outs, and the same material for the screen, just a change in paint color. I don't know, maybe she forgot Danie did it and it stayed in her subconscious... 🤷
Perfect timing! I was just thinking about what to do for my cat's box.
You can also use an end table and cut a hole on a side 😁 a friend did that. She only opened the door to clean the area and litter box. She placed washable contact paper inside for easy clean up.
