I love thses interviews. They are so inspiring and uplifting. I have been able to gleam from the words of wisdom and follow/listen to some great preachers.
Praise God for Dr. Booth. I had the privilege and it was a blessing to drive Dr. Booth back to his hotel at the end of our Church revival in Philadelphia a few years ago. He encouraged me to stay focused on the call to preach in spite of the politics in candidating as a perspective pastor. His final words to me were Profound and still ring in my spirit today. Dr. Booth told me; “Rev. Cosby, Stay Faithful!” I will never forget his words of wisdom. Thank you Dr. C.E.Booth.
Listening to this, and it brings back so many wonderful memories for me. I am a native of Chester, Pa and I grew up under Rev. Dr J. Pius Barbour at Calvary Baptist Church. I remember hearing Rev Booth preach many times. Thank God for the memories ❤
I’ve been a “fan” if you will of Dr. Booths preaching style since I was about 5 years old. Like him I have a love for African American preachers . This is a gem . Thanks Dr. Thomas for this it really blessed my soul🔥🔥🔥I learned so much. I did not realize the roots he had in Philadelphia.
Dr. Booth spoke at our very first anniversary of our Bible institute in 1994. I learned one great thing from him and that was how important it is to study the word of God. I’m still in shock that he is gone.
It is a blessing for us to witness two great scholars and preachers sit and discuss preaching. Thank you, Dr. Thomas, for allowing us to learn about and from such a great man.
Thanks, Dr. Thomas, for this interview series. I am enjoying all of these interviews immensely. Dr. Booth's humility, love of his vocation, and dedication to the church he pastored were evident. Enjoyed hearing stories about his family members. It warmed my heart to hear him speak so fondly and personally of our Generals of the Faith of yesterday--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Samuel Proctor, Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, Dr. Leon Sullivan, Rev. Adam Clayton Powell, Dr. Harold Carter, etc. What a rich legacy we preachers of today have received.
This greatly blessed my life. I have a desire to go to school and earn a much deeper education in theology or divinity. Excellence in my brothers and sisters is such a profound treasure. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much I listened learned and took notes. Thanks for sharing this historic moment. The story's Dr. Booth shared are priceless. Thanks Dr. Thomas for your great work in protecting preserving and presenting the Legacy of The African American Great Preaching Tradition! We love and appreciate you sir!

25:57 Wow, powerful anecdote. Love the closing thoughts around 1:09:35 as well. This entire interview is full of historical and developmental insight. Thank you for your excellent work, as always.
Thank you Dr.Thomas. What a powerful interview among preaching giants. It was a tremendous honor and blessing to have Dr. Booth describe the essence of Black preaching. To be sure, I will watch the video again just to make good notes on the seminal preachers mentioned. I say that as someone who is busy with work, family, and a PhD program. I am also a graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School. But I would not want miss the rich gems that were discussed concerning the art, calling, and craft of Black preaching. Great video!
Dr. Thomas - thank you for your work in facilitating these conversations. I'm not sure if you'd call yourself a historian, but you're doing the work a historian, a griot, an ethnographer, and so much more! This is incredibly valuable! At around 36:00, when Dr. Booth talked about his not being into technology, I have to admit I got a little sad, worried about the preservation of his work for generations. I know that typed messages are not the only way to preserve work, but I couldn't help the feeling that came over me when I heard that part of the interview. Do you know if his papers were donated for archiving after his death?
My former pastor; he is no longer with us. He is one of the greatest preachers of all time. My father is now my pastor as we're in the same city. My father has studied under the Rev. Dr. Charles E Booth.
He is truly missed. So good hearing his voice again!

Ran into Dr. Booth in the lobby once while he was waiting for his limo. Very humble, down to earth man. His passing is so unreal.
