  • After a run of 1,444 performances on Broadway, Frank Capra's 1941 filmization of the blockbuster play was finally allowed to be released--in 1944. Dismissed even by its star Cary Grant, who disliked his manic (but hilarious) performance, it has since become one of Capra's most beloved movies.

Cary was wrong. He was great! That window seat triple take is gold, baby, GOLD!
Cagney was wrong too - 123 was very tight and Jimmy was clearly on point. It may not hold as well exactly, but Cagney was great.
And while there's no shortage of actresses over the years to call in love with, Priscilla Lane goes straight to the top of actress I would marry. So darn endearing. Her begging for John Garfields life at the end of "Dust Be My Destiny" has me near in tears! Thats marriage material.

Cary Grant was perfect in this, one of the funniest comedies ever to hit the big screen.

Yes, Grant and Cagney were both great in those movies. 1,2,3 is so underrated in my opinion. Comedies today aren't even half as clever.
