- In this show, we're going to a truck demolition derby and you won't believe just how much abuse a truck can take! Then, it's back to the shop to show you all the secrets that make these derby trucks so tough!
PARTS USED IN THIS EPISODE:
Accel: Accel Supercoil for HEI Distributor.
DEC Headers: Forward swept 4-into-1 extended collector headers.
Edelbrock: Performer Series Camshaft and Lifter kit, Timing set.
Fitch: The Fitch Fuel Catalyst is NOT an additive. It is a long term fuel treatment offering a number of benefits: Insure Fuel Quality During Storage Increase Gasoline Octane & Diesel Cetane Improve Engine Performance (Horsepower & Torque) Improve Fuel Economy Reduce Emissions - Green House Gases Reduce Engine Maintenance Improve Oil Burner Efficiency
Kimberly-Clark Professional: SCOTT Shop Towels, WYPALL* Red Shop Towels, KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* shop towels are ideal for your toughest automotive clean-up tasks.
M.O.P. Derby Products: This shifter will work on turbo 350/400 transmissions. The mounting bracket is made with a laser for a precise fit. This shifter is designed so it is very tight and does not move when hitting or getting hit. It has a easily removeable park lockout pin. The design also alleviates the problem of the shifter hitting you in the leg when you get hit.
Nitro-Plate: Coating of headers for derby truck.
Power Building Videos: Power Building Videos.
Stateline Transmission: Fully prepped Transmission.
The Industrial Depot: Industrial grade of bolts and hardware items. - Авто та транспорт

Little tip put the straight treads on back and diggers on front it will save you rear end
Each one of those trucks someone brought home new and was proud of it once.
That’s the sad part
And now it’s scrap metal get over it
@@Joe_The_Tractor_Man not really sad everything has to come to an end, and at least these trucks are giving people thrill and excitement
Ya I guess but these trucks are getting harder to find people love the classics
Idk about that there was a ford in the mix
Gotta start looking for chevys near this place. In central Pennsylvania prices, this is like watching a Ferrari demo derby.
i'm in pa..not really any chevys like this around
Up in canada those trucks would have been considered rust free and mint projects. Unreal that those got smashed. Like are those for real rust free cabs??? Do you know what you could sell those for up here? Lol
I just bought a pre 1980 Chevy cab for $ 2,500 , not the entire truck, just a cab with doors.
Studio Earth I’m in western pa and thinking the same thing
I've got 8 of these trucks rt now....kentucky
that's my all time favorite chevy trucks, 73-87, breaks my heart seeing these destroyed instead of restored lol
Bro it's sad to see that old square body chevy are destroyed
Best part of the day, smashing chevies
@@danderson9881 👍
Dime a dozen where I live
yea and they one they built had no dents or rust
It’s sad to see the old trucks and cars get smashed
Its weird being from the mid west, I can't believe you are destroying those truck beds that don't have rust
Im from eastern canada . im jealous all these rust free parts
@@ford1979truck I was in Windsor and noticed everyone on steal rims and then I realized those are for there winter tires. You guys are smart up north.
That truck was worth a lot more than a derby lol
Cool Video but I would definitely wanna do my cage before welding the doors shut!
Nooooo!! Not the square body's
No loss
This was painful. What are you thinking? I can't even find a truck as good as the one you are going to destroy.
I've got 8 here in Kentucky...ill sell you one😂
Will do anything for views people watch the show they get millions from advertising firms if they think they will make 500k on a few episodes they would smash up an al original 70 ls6 454 chevelle
Whistlin diesel: "hold my beer "
You now why trucks nowadays. They are not that strong. I like trucks from the late 80s
I’d drive that to work everyday. I wouldn’t care lol
A lot of people are mad that they are smashing square bodys but you gotta think most of these trucks dont have titles and the bodys were already rough so they aren't worth parting out. Not all of them but I'd say quite a few of them.
poor square bodies
@@bigboreracing356 bullshit there all valuable let crash some 3valves or new rams no loss there
Some dont even have rust
they're worth a fortune in Australia!
@@ianvader4697 trade you for a ute
@@rustedratchetgarage6788 What are the odds of them being destroyed to extinction from all this are?🤔
Hey look. An episode from when Trucks was a good show.
That truck was in better shap then my project truck mine is an 1981 Chevy
Its awesome but it hurts to watch square bodys get smashed up if you love em as much as i do
Omg theres even a 67-72 in there
....
I never could stand watching demo derbies. Ever since dads 73 Torino wagon bit the dust.......
I spent 3 months repairing my old bed and this seems hard to look....
Why destroy a squarebody
Exactly mate.
Half these trucks are not worth saving.
@@bigboreracing356 have you looked at the prices on original parts and even complete trucks the square body trucks are going way up in value
Cause they suck that's y lol honestly I'd do the 88to98 style b4 a square body
I am pissed at you guys for ruining those squarebody trucks
poor baby lol
So, you couldn't do the interior work BEFORE you welded the doors shut?
It's better to do it after so everything can be made to fit exactly and with all the glass out it really doesn't make it any harder.
They dont know shit stacy David actually does but when they go to commercial the real builders take over David fryburger and lucky Costa called these shows out on it
This hurts. Why smash up a good rust free truck? You couldn't get one that's not so nice? Damn, that truck was worth way more than scrap.
These trucks are in better shape then what you see on the road here in Ontario. I’d pay good money for one of those rust free trucks
wow! here i thought they were always junk trucks, but they got more money in aftermarket parts than my house is worth, and those truck bodys are in better shape than mine.
Check out Gropp engineering and see how many thousands of dollars you can spend on a top of the line derby engine.
It may be Gropp automotive or something like that.
Ski inc, postal mopar, baldwin engines. Takes money to run big shows.
All those rust free beds are worth $1500 a pop in the midwest
Thanks for the derby video guys. I love derbys there is just as much ingenuity that goes into derby cars as race cars. Where I live if you don't have 10k invested into your figure 8 car you won't even begin to be competitive. Its big here.
I feel like I lost 12 teeth and 30 iq points watching this.....
Gug gug jus don't start lovin on yer sister 🤪

I don't care what year the truck is I don't wanna see a c10 get destroyed
I was thinking the same thing~
1:38 " We are all about safety ", ( gas tank is sliding around in the bed ) .
I saw that too!
I park my piece of junk in the front yard!
This is torture
You say demolition derby truck. I say daily driver.
Would liked to of seen them finish the build I think they should revisit the subject with either another truck or a car or some sort because this is one of the few times a show has done something like this and not turned it into a joke
I'm sorry 79 for scrap , I should of found it first it wouldn't of went to the demo derby it would of been a frame up resto-mod.
You should come up to north Idaho, there's a few old square bodies and 60's dodge truck behind damn near every barn. We rent a house that's on a farm, landlord lives on the other side of the barns. Just here there's a '74 k20, a '72 c60, two late 40's/early 50's dodge flatbeds, and two or three 60's Dodge trucks.
@@OldGriz708 That's my problem having a trailer and driving that far with my vision without a co-pilot. night driving is out and I'm just off the IL/WI. I-94 interstate.
@@OldGriz708 Hey, dont be telling people about our stockpiles.
Dang mid fuel tank seem like the engine should be there j/k. Looks fun but I bet they are sore afterwards but that's what the 🍻 is for.
It's not as bad as you would think. Like a football player doesn't get hurt badly because he has a helmet and pads and is expecting to be hit hard. In the derby cars you have a helmet and padding on the driver's door and know you're going to get hit by 5,000 pound vehicles.
But with that said I have had whiplash over a dozen times, broken nose, both hips pulled out of their sockets, stitches by the mile, and wake up in pain every day but would do it all over again 👍🏁
I like this build . Been around the sport around the sport for 19 years and my boss is a promoter
Poor square bodies!!!😢💔😡
It's supposed to be stock Ae: run what you bring and tow what you blow. * except for safety mods.
You guys are all ways building some wild things have you ever thought about putting two rotors engines back to back
You put new tires on a derby truck ....This does not compute , captain
Having driven a 76 dodge D200 in the local demo derby for 3 years. This is addictive. nothing like smashing and banging. Trucks Hit a hell of a lot harder than cars do.
I love a good demo derby but to see all those old squarebodys destroyed. 😥
🥺🥺 why
I love this truck
Ah yes derbies before slider shafts, high dollar drivetrains, custom rims, engine and trans cradles. Back when it was fun and didn't take a year to build one car
Sliders have been around for 20 years. Doesn’t take a year either, unless it’s a blizzard bash car. Even then, if you already have the shit, it’s literally just swapping the shit over.
I'm surprised I didn't see more Fords.
Last time I was at the junkyard they had three Chevy pickups and about 20 Fords. There was a lot of dodges but nothing earlier than 1994.
.........they wanted to win.🏁
Y’all need to come to Utah and watch our derbies they are way more enjoyable
the derby trick back in the 70's was to run manure spreader tires on the cars to get all the grip you could they came in 15 and 16 iin sizes so they were a stock rim fit
You guys hit an all-time low destroying that square body! You could have done something constructive and rebuild it, but no like idiots you destroyed a good solid project truck, so thanks to you there's one Les project truck for a future build. I agree demos are fun but you got to be messed up in the head to destroy vehicles that aren't in that bad of shape. If you keep smashing up everything that's good what are you going to do when they're all gone? and what will be left for the future generations.
You do whatever you want with the ones you buy and don't worry about what other people do with the ones they buy.
@@OldGriz708 why don't you take your own advice and not comment. Truth Hurts huh by supporting them you are supporting destroying Classics of the future!
As a body guy from salty ass Syracuse NY, this shit kinda hurts to see all of these straight and solid tailgates, beds, fenders go to such a waste this way
Would put the cage in b4 you weld the doors shut
Talk about buying a win
Awesome
You guys at the shop should all build your own furby cars
Lmao those boys wouldn’t last no time running around here
When I got done watching this I had grown a mullet, was missing 6 teeth, and a natty light was magically in my hand.
How can they destroy this trucks?Even they cost 7000 -8000€ in Germany!
I hate seeing a dent side ford in derby, love that body style.
Hey, let's throw 10 grand into a derby truck. Great idea!
In Michigan we have to run an ignition switch. No bare wires for ignitions.
4:07
"It's amazing that these trucks even still move."
*Really?*
Note for this I live in Wisconsin smack dab in the middle of the rust belt
I was at my local sawp meet in September and they had a truck derby. Saw a Chevy square body probably in less condition than any of those trucks and it lasted all the way to the rear wheels shredded down to the hub, rear axle dragging on the ground, and frame completely snapped in half. Only reason he got third was because his axle sat higher than the rims (what was left of them) and he couldn't move.
Now that's a truck that is amazing it still moved let alone ran.
Square body’s bend like limp noodles
Tommy has done derbys all his life. Sux yall didn't get to derby the truck for the show
When are you guys going to do part 2 of this episode ?
That dodge hood in the back at 6:30
As a former derby builder and driver I scratched my head at why did you weld that truck up before doing the interior (seat, seat belts/harness, steering column, wiring, battery box, trans cooler etc) Makes no sense to weld the doors shut before doing those first. Now you all get to climb in and out of that cab to do those tasks. Even more so, good luck getting the stock bench seat back in (which is recommended to use over a single bucket seat.) The bench seat can be use like a "catchers mitt" when making a reverse hit. Just before impact lay down a bit so the seat takes the impact, not the body from sitting up. Also, do not cut away any of the steel from the truck. That hood, if it were cut in the right way, that steel could be wrapped back over the top of the hood and welded down (makes the hood stronger and who cares how it looks.) Outside of those, the build is looking good.
Sad some of them trucks looked decent.
I know brother.
Probably hack jock body work full of blonde to make em look decent for the derby
TN does not salt the roads so rotters are not common.
POWERNATION Have you guys been taken off of the air.?
I grew up learning to drive on a Scottsdale I absolutely love those trucks. I would love to slam one on bags, looking like a hillbilly-rat-rod with "patina"
I don't know why but I think these trucks just look great and they are built like a brick shithouse especially with a 350 small block
Is there a part two? Did you guys compete?
Modern trucks could never handle this
Good buy to some classics... why not use new toyota hiluxes instead?
Nice build bud. Should went ford with Chevy drive train.. but looks like you know what y’all are doing !
"Whose the dumbest mf in the trailer park" challenge
Makes me mad that people destroy good old project trucks for this. Ugh
Same here brother.
@@bigboreracing356 LOL!!!!!!!!!
@Thystaff Thywill Yep.
Why not the junkyard would jus crush them so why not have some fun with it "It's just a truck dnt worry " they make them everyday

What a waste of perfectly good square bodies!!!!!! :-(
Those beautiful square bodies!!!! Nooooo....
People in Elmira NY build their demolition derby cars 6 months in advance of the Chemung county fair in Horseheadds NY. Some people build a Dodge stratus into a demolition derby car what is your take on it
What a waste of a solid square body. Where I live in the rust belt a solid truck like that brings good money. I guess one man's definition of junk is different from another man's.
Who was the promoter? In ontario 🇨🇦 my fav promoter is thrill show production
What a waste I’d love to have had all them parts that tail gate looked great they should’ve just blown that ford up and let the crowd cheer over it and save the square body’s
Nah save them all
wondering if they allowed 4x4's in this? Better traction.
Generally they allow them but with no front driveshaft.
Where did the shifter come from
Anyone that’s ever run derbies knows you don’t make as much as you put in
Minimal investment 🤣🤣🤣
Whats the purpose of welding the cab to the bed
So the bed doesn't rip off the frame.
damn thats old footage
Too badly destroyed these trucks that are getting harder and harder to find and there are high demand in my area
As cases of full sized cars are even harder to find to smash up when square bodied GM pickups are harder to find as well. As tips from the sanctioning bodies of demolition derbies to ensure safety when most transmission builders had fortified the transmission to survive a heat when it would still run when the clutches are worn down to the backing plates.
As a derby driver, this was painful to watch.
My hole life I’ve done derby’s
i live my life one derby at a time
This is why square bodies are 10k
Idk if it’s just me but why destroy a truck
If you like this you should check out UK banger racing.

I've been at it since '78.... Lol

Get a mid 80's K30 and wreck everyone.
where's the second episode?
Where is the rest of the build video??
Stoney Roberts derby doesn't let you ad cages or any of the goodies
I've done derbies for a few years and for a bone stock truck heat that black and orange truck was cheated I can tell you that right now
