I have a earlier version of this tent with no screen room. It is a Weathertec 9x17 tent. It has the metal poles and rain fly that only covers most of the tent.... When I received the tent I set it up and Seam Sealed ever inch there was any stitching. Then I sprayed the tent with Waterproofing. Living in Washington State if you don't camp in the rain you don't camp often. We are tarp exports and camp rain or shine. After owning the tent 5 years we stayed at a KOA camp near Astoria, OR. The second DAY it began to rain and the wind began to rage...20 to 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 plus. For 3 days the tent alone stood up to the wind until I added a tarp on the windward side staked to the ground and run up over the tent and bungee corded the loose end to tight lines staked down... We also had a 12x12 canopy set up with one corner to the wind wrapped with included walls and staked out. We cooked and played games under the canopy during the day.... 5 days of high wind and rain but both the tent and canopy are still in use today. If you take care of your products they will take care of you. SeamSeal, Waterproof Spray, and Bungee Cords added to tie downs so high winds don't rip the grommets from your tarp or rain fly. Enjoy and Good Luck out there.
Nice summer tent, and your the only person on UA-cam that actually fully set up the tent and staked it down. Nice job. I will watch a review till they cut corners then I turn it off.
Thank you, Thank you so very much for showing all the zippers😃. The other reviews i've seen did not show the bottom of the door zipper that leads into the patio area. I was wondering if the second flap zipped at the bottom, but now I see there is an opening. One review I saw mentioned to add velcro to keep the bottom closed. Now I just need to know if a queen cot will fit if I turn it horizontally🤔.
We bought it in 2018 & went to Banff National Park & found out this is a warm weather tent! We were very cold because of the mesh roof! Setting it up is not simple! Bringing it to a warmer area of Alberta this week so hopefully it will not be too cold at night. It just might be a hot weather tent! Ours doesn’t have the rear window, which would be nice.
Andrew Hunt Did the sealing of the seams hold up? Before I commit to spending the money and time, I would like to know if this fixed the issue. Great video! Thank you!
jesus it rained in the tent so bad after first storm . I meaning raining in my tent coming right thru the fly. I'm leaving for Michigan in 2 weeks and it could be potential down pours what have you done bc its either tarp over the tent or waterproofing
@@redartisanwolf6716 Just camped in Maine and had 1 day of bad rain and we had to stay in a hotel, because water came in through the roof and sides. I sprayed it about 2 or 3 years ago. I spayed it again after it dried out.
I have had a picture of the Coleman tent that you show here as a way to encourage myself to buy it but thanks to your video it's a sure deal now. I will be ordering my next month and I really appreciate this video so very much.
Thanks for the video. I own a Coleman Red Canyon 8p weather tech. .great tent but in a heavy rain the rain fly did not hold too well. There was also rain coming through the zipper seams and the mesh windows. Next time I'm running a tarp over the text just in case for 2 purposes, 1 the rain obviously, and 2 to protect myself while setting up or breaking down the camp. It's a good tent overall.
You can get a blue and a brown and a camouflage tarp if you stay in national Forest every 14 days you can change the cover to different color making you look like a different camper at that spot to get an extra 14 days and it protects your tent from water sticks and wind
Get ride of the air mattress and use cots. Warmer, up higher for the windows, some place to sit and tones more room for storage under them. Best change I made to my tenting. My tent has the same set up except the screen room also has a bathtub floor and panels that zip over the screens so you can have another dry tent area if you need to. Great tents that's for sure.

Some of the weather master tents of the same size do not have the floor or zip up panels for the screen room. If that's what you want make sure you ask.
And if you have a place for a woodstove no matter what happens with the weather you can have heat and you can cook without costing you any money I always recommend a screen tent with a cover for your woodstove with the ability to open up your tent to the screen tent to control the heat from the woodstove how much you want coming into your tent
A woodstove will change so many problems and cots Will raise you up to the windows and give you storage underneath these tents were planned to have certain merchandise for more comfort once you apply these things in the tent will make more sense
The round pack of black bands you received with the tent go into the windows so they roll down much easier without the excess hanging down. Ordered after I watched your video and wanted to let you know about the bands.
Great review, I just started looking into this tent. I have a Marmot 4p dome but I'm looking for a larger cabin style to be able to stand up and do a little bit more in. I'm thinking not, but did it come with a footprint? And does the floor seem of thick material? I borrowed a Copper Canyon LX 8p but was not impressed at all, the floor was so thin and it took a while to set up.
Especially this one. The instructions aren’t the best that come with it. & the labeling of the thin black poles aren’t good: “long”, “long” & “longest”.
Mine seems to leak through the rainfly. It beads but those drops appear on the underside and go right through the mesh. Not making contact with the mesh. Made sure of it.
The user manual doesn't mention the 8 yellow plastic stakes that are included. Did you use them? Where/How? If we don't use them we don't have enough metal stakes to stake down the rainfly... Do you have a clue?
I definitely would put a woodstove in your screen porch so you can cook and heat your tent eye-opening as much or little as you want of the door to control the amount of heat coming into your tent or you can heat the screened in porch while you’re up in a week and go to sleep with it cooler in your tent but if you can’t stand it just open the door to the patio and let the heat come in maybe with a Fan blowing in to your tent from the woodstove you’ll be loving life with coffee brewing in the morning
Thank for all the info - very nice!!! How long does it take to set up the tent, and, how many people are needed to set it up properly? Should I go ahead and get the sealant if I order the tent - I really want to order it because it seems to be so spacious. I like the fact it has no bottom to the screened in area, though - helps to keep you feeling like you're still in nature. Think I will get myself a large mat to "scrape" the dirt off my feet before I step into the tent/sleeping area. Oh, and, how durable are the zippers on each window and the doors?
Supposedly that large window is "self rolling". Watched a quick video, shows it in this exact tent...I don't see any kind of spring coil contraption on this video, though. May want to look and see if you got everything?
Jason Johnston It comes with the Wearhermaster 6 Elite which is white and blue. It works great. I seam.sealed the seams that joins the floor to the tent on the outside and it became.really waterproof. Later in time I had to seam seal it completely. This is a rugged tent but leaky. I own a Midory 6 Wich perform flawlessly out of the box.
You will not solve the problem by sealing on the inside, been there. I sealed it on the outside. Didn't look nice but it worked perfectly. Next time get an Esreka Midory 6 Wich is way mech better. Get yourself a commercial door mat rubber on the bottom carpet on the top for your patio coming into the tent that way you can wipe your feet and you can have a woodstove Chopwood and not worrying about damaging your tent floor
I always use one or two more canvases over my tent just keeps limbs from poking holes in my tent and it gives me a couple barriers before water gets to my tent never trust your tent no matter how leak proof it is always put one or two canvases stretched out over your tent specially the longer you campThe more canvas you should have floating over your tent for extra protection just saying as a experienced camper
Great review! I was wondering does the weatherman have electrical port access? the ozark tents have a zipper that allow you to put in an extension cord into the tent. thanks!
Yes this one does it is located at the bottom right corner of the main tent door. I didn't mention it in the video, but you can see the lighter colored material in the beginning of the video. That is the extension cord port.
I've always seen that and thought it was kinda funny bc of the rain fly but it does make sense. You could open the windows some when it rains and you're inside. I would say that this tent is a 3 season, and I think it is classified as 3 season as well. I don't doubt you could use it as a 4 season although with all the windows and no closure for the entire ceiling of the tent it could get very cold.
