- Kid Cudi became an icon when Man On The Moon dropped way back in the day. But what makes Man On The Moon so great? Well in this Kid Cudi video essay, I answer that question and give you my in depth thoughts on this masterpiece of an album. I mean songs like Day and Night and Pursuit of Happiness really haven't aged a day since they came out. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy this vid as much as I did making it ;)

FINALLY SOME RESPECT FOR KID CUDI
Man on the moon 1 was a masterpiece.
I just listened to it for the first time this month. I've been holding off on Kid Cudi. I've always been a Kanye West fan and have loved Kid Cudi in all of Kanyes work. I decided it was finally time to give Kid Cudi his proper chance and now I'm hooked. I still have yet to listen to man on the moon 3 but man on the moon 1 is truly a masterpiece and is absolutely fantastic. It's such a deep album that connects with me even though I havnt struggled nearly as much as Cudi has. I can't wait to listen to man on the moon 3 and complete the triliogy- then listen to it again.
*is a masterpiece
Thank you for making this video, great analysis !
I discovered Cudi a few months ago and ever since I fell in love with his music.
Its like a voice that helps you when you don't have anyone to talk problems like addiction, loneliness, growing up, fighting demons, everyone says this, but he really saved my life when I was at the darkest time of my life, its like his music came at the perfect time of my life to save me from worse things, and I while I wondered if the "Kid" in his name had any reflection of his youth, I never saw it in a way of reliving a troubled childhood even though you are an adult. I might be 18 but damn that hits close, I think most of us would change a lot of things from the past and I guess it is another reason why MOTM 1 is one of my favorite albums ever.
I also like to think of the MOTM trilogy as a journey that extends through his whole catalog, even after pouring his soul and feelings into music, it feels like the journey never ends, I like to think of PPDS and Kids See Ghosts as his Rehab albums and like you said, full back to form with MOTM 3 being so much more uplifting.
I couldn't be more excited for Entergalactic, I am really curious where Cudi goes after the MOTM trilogy being done. Again, great video.
That’s beautiful man. Yeah his whole discog just tells a really honest and human story - also PPDS really is underrated
Soundtrack 2 my life is my favorite cudi song and maybe it‘s cause i can relate to the lyrics alot, his music helped me so much and i mostly had the same experiences as him in my life growing up without a father figure etc. so he really inspires me to pursue my dreams as a musician.
This man saved my life on numerous occasions with his songs and i guess it is the same for a lot of his fans.
Just wanna say. Thank you cudi. Thank you for putting our feelings into words.
Damn I thought you were going to go into every single track. But still I think this is a great analysis. Honestly I felt as though the 1st album was such a great internal monolog. Especially if you consider that there are kids out there that don't speak about the trauma because they don't know how to process it yet. And so this album acts as a way of escaping those plights. While also finding a avenue to express those emotions. Up up in a way such a great song because it shows that he doesn't have everything figured out yet. But his mind will forever be his place where he can find solace.
Making this 2nd project to me unique because it almost phot as though his mind was in a darker place. So this place where he had this reprieve there's no longer sanctuary.
The last man in the moon is honestly forgettable to me but I do believe it represents something in a healthier place.
yeah 3rd album didn't feel as story driven as the other 2
I just remembered this was the last CD I’ve ever purchased in 2009…time flies
I am seeing Cudi in Atlanta on Tuesday!
Great video! Really changed my perspective of some songs on the Album!
Found you yesterday and am not disappointed. I really like the rap album analysisis you make. Keep going 👍
Man On The Moon Trilogy is the best trilogy, I love it, even more than College Dropout Trilogy by Kanye, but my favorite album is Kids See Ghosts, a perfect album with so few songs, makes you want more and still be satisfied, the combination of Kanye and Cudi is perfect, if you would ask me my favorite solo album, it would be Man On The Moon II
The most impactful personal album ever
great video, ive never really payed much attention to kid cudi but it’s good to have this understanding
Love the video man. Keep up the good work
Great analysis, I've never interpreted MOTM it that way. Cool video

Finally, the video about cudi
I listened to man on the moon years ago and never realized that common was the narrator. I always thought it was Cudi speaking.
Yo big fan of ur content, can you pls make a Blonde version
Yeah absolutely dude otw
Greatest album of all time
Kid cudi .. for me 1st 🥇, Second Mac Miller , 3rd asap rocky
We are the same person lmfao
Cudi is the goat
nice
At 2:32 you mention that it's referencing Jay Z's song "99 Problems" but Jay Z is actually interpolated from Ice-T's song "99 Problems"
Although it is iconic due to Jay's song, it's actually kinda a reference to Ice T
Unexpected face reveal
Bro that Kanye joke 😭😭😂
My friends dad bought donuts from Cudi before he blew up
young nudy not carti leak,, love the video tho cudi is one of the best artists oat for sure
It ADULT NOT adult
It was real and relatable. Once he got rich he lost that touch. End of story. Motm and motm 2 were masterpieces. The rest was trash.
Your crazy. Indicud and PPDS are almost flawless
mid cudi
mid Khiar
You’re corny af bro
k bud
Greatest album of all time
