Thanks for the review. Im going back to my local store tomorrow and changing out the helmet i got from them a few weeks ago. Since its off season i didnt REALLY look that close but i noticed it was made in 2014 today. We are going to have words tomorrow and i am going to pick up an i90 instead.
I bought the i90 , which is not generous on size. Great helmet, light and secure, but due to Covid19, I was unable to try. The Medium 57-58 is too tight and during winter does not easily accommodate a balaclava - leaving me feeling uncomfortable after an excess of 30 mins or so.
I bought the I90 and now just looking at reviews I wanted to get a scorpion tech Evo but it seems I have a small head for a man S and they didn't had my size, so went with this one after trying it on, it felt great, well I am not on a bike but on a scooter though, so I hope that me riding lower speeds will not cause wind blast into my eyes.
Hi I bought an Hjc i90 today and love it,I tried on the Scorpion you described but the jaw part is naff! Quite poor quality and would be useless in a crash if the jaw part was hit.
The i90 is different from most because of the cheek width. I have a big head and most helmets hurt my ears and cheeks. This helmet is awesome. I paid 299 for my CARST version.
I just got my I90 Davan in the mail from RevZilla yesterday. I carefully measured my head and the size I ordered fits. Ive got it all set up and installed the HJC Smart 20B Bluetooth today. Havent tested it on the road yet but so far I love it. Really great looks. Very light and comfortable compared to what I've been using for a very long time. The install of the 20B bluetooth was a little challenging but I found a UA-cam install video that helped me along. Sounds surprisingly good for music. It is going to take a long time to learn and remember how to do all the things it is capable of doing.
@@Srkaljka I had it for about 2.5 years, I enjoyed it a lot for about 30k kilometers, however this season I upgraded to hjc rpha 90 mostly due to weight, it's a lot lighter and also quieter. Enjoying it at the moment as well.
Good review, I am looking at this helmet and a few other modular. I currently ride with a Sedici Sistema modular but I don’t really like it. It wasn’t sized correctly when I bought it a few years ago. On a side point… the flip up modular portion on any modular helmet is not really designed to be in the UP position while riding UNLESS specifically stated by the manufacturer that riding this way is approved.
I would hope that the dual homologation means it's been safety tested and passed even with the visor up. Essentially it's a 3/4 helmet with a big chunk sitting up top.
I have it for about 2 months. for use in the city quite good. on the open road enough air on the cheeks which is not at all pleasant. if the weather is not good they will freeze the face.
Thanks Dan! Any reviews coming up for any helmets with head up display? There are some crazy ones out there reaching Smart levels of tech and features!
Just to point out that I bought this helmet and in the User manual (that you can download in the website) under "Using Your Helmet Correctly" there is the following direction : "Never ride with the modular chin bar in the open position.". So I don`t think one should do that.
Quite tempted. I've got an Rpha70 which is great (and fits perfectly) and a Nolan N100 modular which is just about OK. As this is a polycarbonate are you better off shelling out the extra for the Rpha90. Now there's a question
That's a good question, but I think as our own individual needs vary so wildly it would have to be up to each of us to decide. Thanks for the comment. 👍
My head is 61cm which according to the specs should be the XL. So, should I go for the XL or the 2Xl size to avoid any pressure on the forehead? Cheers!
Hi, I noticed on your video that the i90 had the micro metric release. I’ve just ordered one but no mention of mm release but double d ring. Hopefully it has mm release but if not hope it’s easy to change.
I have found that I had the issue with the old hjc is2max, that it was very tight across the forehead as you mentioned with this. I had to go up a size just because of that. It was perfect otherwise, and would have expected the same on size. But bigger size it is. 🤷♂️
Been looking yesterday at these helmets. Quite like the blue /white/red combo as all my kit is black currently. Did the pinlock come in the box as some say it's extra when looking online.
Do you happen to know of a place to get riding gear for taller people in Britain (Equivalent to XL Tall and 2X Tall - US Sizes)? I'm 6'3" and need bit more length for a jacket than the standard sizes. Just out of curiosity what bike do you have?
Great video! My Rpha11 lining got ruined with me putting it on my mirror so went back to my old AGV K3SV. Been looking for a modular helmet and its been a toss up between the i90 and the Rpha90. Think I'll be getting this i90 though.
My HJC i90 shield won't stay open above 35 mph (i ride a Street Glide with a short 6.5 inch windshield). Helmet is super heavy as well. Not my favorite helmet.

I never even considered the weight as it just didn't feel heavy to me. My Arai Tour X4 is 1,670g and my Shark Skwaal is 1,550g so it's not that far off. With all the extra mechanics of the flip up front I think it's pretty light.

I kind of miss the old days of black visors and proper full face lids. So many riding round now with these flip down shades trying and failing to look cool.
Nice thing about flip ups with internal dark visors is the choice you have when riding. Warm and sunny, flip up and sun visor down. Cold and sunny, flip down and sun visor down. Pissing down, dark nights, flip down and sun visor up. Nothing cool about having a full face helmet with a black visor if you get caught out in heavy rain or at night Not something you want to find when you're 250 miles from home.
Except at 0:19 where I SAY it's ECE and DOT rated and you can SEE the sticker on the helmet saying which ECE rating it has. It also shows the weight. I also add all of that information into the description. So, stick that in your pipe.
Sena systems are a pile of shite, if this doesn't fit a Cardo, I won't be purchasing another HJC. They should just stick to making a helmet and leave the coms to others.
I use both Sena and Cardo. I prefer Cardo for some features and the ease of connecting with my mates, but Sena for chatting with the Mrs on the back has been fine too.
