You could just render spawn and find out which one is the right one, unless you put the same amount of crates on each garage, but again, it'd be too much work just to get raided offline
Build dummies too, make like 5 or 6 gates, scattered around the lot. Makes it a lot harder to guess, or close off the entrances, lay some wire too, barbed wire is slept on
Building in dayz is fun but gosh it’s so time consuming especially when it gets raided the next day I’d rather be a nomad or have stashes its a lot of fun
I ran around a Chernarus map official yesterday and in my playthrough, I found 12 bases all raided. I have only seen one base on days in my 100 hours of playing that hasn't been looted yet. Oh and my one and only attempt at building a base destroyed and fully looted by a player within 12 hours.
I can’t remember if you have done this one yet… the apartments that you have to go up the elevator ladder or parkour the broken stairs. I found a nice little base with full nbc gear on a server with no nails, so it was just a lock pick to get in. Not a bad spot on servers where apartments don’t spawn loot.
I like to build a wall around the entrance. The inner bit is my main stash and they have to break through a whole other layer. Time consuming but well protected from non cheaters
My criteria for base building is more so based on the surrounding area, foot traffic and resource availability. That being said I usually just make crates and hide them in unusual places in the areas that I most frequently travel. You can also create a temporary shelter in dense forest near towns that act as sniper blind and includes extra storage. If you’re not playing on a “no raid” or dead server chances are your base no matter where it is will be found and it will be raided so just anticipate it and prepare for it mentally. Some advice, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If you have high tier gear then build crates and hide them in an area near your base but far enough no one will notice or think to look there. I rarely build bases it is just a waste of time because you’re just gathering loot for someone else. Build small and out of the way and you’ll survive longer.
@ bases are only really good if you’re in a faction, solo takes too long to find all the stuff to build a base one gates never enough I’ve spent multiple hours looking for tools and stuff only to put one gate up then next day I’ve already been raided also stashing loot never really seems worth it either unless on the coast as if you die and you got a stash inland, by time you get there you probably already find loot I found stashing base supplies near where you wanna build to be the most ideal thing imo
I don't build bases anymore , I just stash crates in the woods,.....at this point in time i have 8 different locations, with about 100 crates,....if i do feel like building a base , ill do it , but only put one crate in it with a single bullet, or screw driver
Never build in garages when roaming alone, bigger groups never have enough metal wire/4-dial locks/nails/... All which can easily be found in garage boxes making the passage traffic very high there
Remember, always build in towns. Right in the middle of a town. It messes up the loot economy in that area and makes all other players lag especially when driving. Remember, being inconsiderate is the way of the noob. Stay the course.
All these people who say "don't build a base, use stashes" have never tried an apartment base. That shi is literally unraidable if you set up the ladder correctly.

Its time consuming but its also pretty good if every garage is blocked off and they have to play roulette to figure out which one has your stuff in it

My favourite bases was either ontop of the supermarket in upper berezino chernarus or the gas station in brena Livonia

If u play in the right community servers u can put a car tent inside and then put medium tents inside of it with barrels/crates

Correct. Most items have their own unique lifetime, the flag brings all items to the same lifetime - that of the flag being up.
If people love building they can just go into a PVE ONLY server. Most of them disallow baseraiding.
