Raccoons deserve more love. Not saying they should be pets, of course this was a rescue anyway, but I think a lot people mistreat them in the wild. Not sure if it’s how we’re taught growing up but I hope videos like this change things. Same goes for possums.
Racoons' sheer level of intelligence is something that has been really surprising to me to learn more about? We don't have them here, but I've seen quite a few vids lately featuring them both as urban wild animals and as rescues, and they seem to have both a strong sense of humour and some pretty amazing creative problem-solving skills! I imagine they probably get mistreated fairly frequently in places where they're more commonly seen as as "pest" animals, so I'm glad wildlife rescuers are sharing stories like these ones? Hopefully it helps develop more empathy for free raccoons. Always appreciate the sensible disclaimers C.B. channel includes too, re. non-domesticated rescue animals and what's best for their welfare!
You bring up an important point. Raccoons, like many other wild animals, deserve respect and compassion, both in the wild and in rescue situations. It's crucial to appreciate their place in the ecosystem and understand that they play vital roles in maintaining ecological balance. I know raccoons and l love them. I believe they would make great pets because they actively seek human company and really try to get into our houses. Sadly my government is not animal friendly, so that is not possible. Watching this video showed me how well raccoons adapt to family living. It made me smile.
Raccoons are undoubtedly charismatic and can be quite friendly when seeking human interaction. However, it's important to remember that they are wild animals and have specific needs that can be challenging to meet in a home environment. In many places, it's also illegal to keep raccoons as pets due to the potential risks and health concerns. Videos like the one you watched can provide heartwarming insights into raccoons' adaptability and ability to form unique bonds with humans. But it's crucial to remember that wild animals are best appreciated from a respectful distance in their natural habitats, as they play important roles in their ecosystems. Thank you for your understanding and love for these remarkable creatures! 🦝❤️🏡
Thanks for giving the critter a home. You're my hero! I'd get my cat one but she's jealous of everything. I'd get her a doggo but I tried that. Thanks for giving him/her a fun home! Well, I ain't going to look between his/her legs LOL
Raccoons are very intelligent. For 10 days after getting one of my cats, years ago, I continued to find my cat's bowl of dried food empty, every single morning when I woke up. This was perplexing as the cat was only 3 months old. The bowl was in the kitchen. You guys can guess what happened. Every night, after I went to bed, a Raccoon entered through the kitty door leading into the kitchen and helped himself to anything and everything I left out. Luckily he/she couldn't open the fridge, and never thought to open the cabinets! Raccoons don't have thumbs, but are capable of opening nearly anything they put their mind to by using both manipulating paws. Cute to see one raised with puppies; cause he thinks he is one!
You make a valid point! Access to an adequate food supply can have a significant impact on the behavior and overall well-being of animals, including humans. When animals have enough food and their basic needs are met, they tend to be more content and less stressed, which can result in friendlier and more relaxed behavior. It's a fundamental aspect of animal welfare and a reminder of the importance of providing for the needs of all living creatures. 😊🍏🐾
I love raccoons. Aside their goofy manners, i like how easily they can get along with different animals. But it's especially hilarious observing how they beat dogs' and cats' expectations of a fellow pet-friend xD To a dog, it's the perfect buddy from a different species. To a cat, an absolute nightmare cuz they even more hopeless than dogs when it comes to standing still lol. No such thing as personal space😂 Thanks for uploading! Very wholesome friendships~ Thanks for takin care of these fellas. We gotta appreciate em raccoons more😆🦝
Even if they could be released into the wild and take care of themselves, there's no doubt in my mind that they would rather be right where they are....
Allah düşmüşe, gurabaya, çaresize, muhtaca yardım edenden razı olsun, sayılarını arttırsın, ecrini misli ile her iki cihanda versin, muhtaçlara ve onlarla ilgilenenlere her daim yardım eylesin, onları korusun, kollasın, her türlü ihtiyaçlarını, sıkıntılarını, dertlerini gidersin, hiç birini çaresiz bırakmasın, tüm ailelere mutlu, huzurlu güzel bir hayat nasib etsin inşaallah (amin).
One of our farm neighbors had a raccoon when I was little. I was fascinated how its paws/hands could manipulate objects so easily. It was especially good at opening cabinet doors and pulling stuff out and leaving it. LiL stinkers are cute but they push the boundaries of cute vs annoying a lot.
My family had a baby raccoon we raised, Bluffer was an angel as a pet, Until he reached adulthood, he became so aggressive he bit grandmas finger and was mean, We lived at the edge of a forest so Bluffer went on his way, We saw him the next year with is new family so we all were sad and happy.
Racoons are so cute but let me tell you a reality. I have a family living in my backyard. They have been around for several months. They first tried to get the chickens but the coop is built to prevent entry from anything but probably a cougar or a bear. They found a way to get under the deck and there they stay and they have totally ravaged my shade garden and other areas looking for worms, bugs, grubs and anything else living in the ground. They do it over and over and my several hundred dollars worth of plants are just gone. I don't want to call the people that rid the yard of them, it's very expensive and they will kill them so here I am. We are going to tear the deck out in the spring and put in a patio so that will take care of their hearth and home. I'd be happy to send them to this lovely lady.
It sounds like you're facing quite a challenge with the raccoons in your backyard. While they can be cute, their behavior, like you described, can indeed cause problems for homeowners, especially when it comes to gardens and property damage. If you're considering alternatives to removal, it's important to remember that wild animals should be managed by professionals to ensure their welfare and the safety of your property. You might want to explore options like contacting local wildlife rescue organizations or animal control services that can safely and responsibly handle raccoon removal and relocation if necessary. It's essential to prioritize the well-being of both the animals and your property.
Who would also think raccoons and skunks could be pals. Covid lock down summer, i spent most of my time in my backyard.I would stay out till 3am or later, with the zoo that had formed in my yard. I developed a close bond with a raccoon, she came for dinner every evening and spent hours with me and the 7 baby skunks, who also chose to hang out for hours for snacks and play. There was one baby in particular, who had the prettiest markings and Dita the raccoon, treated her like her baby. She would pat her as she walked by or just walk up and lay on her and hold her down in cuddles and groom her. The babies never tried to spray her. They also got very used to me and walked all around me at my table. I would reach down and pet the tails as they walked by. Then there were also 2 possums who dita was terrified of for some reason. She would come and sit on my lap or try to follow me into the house when they came by. All those creatures helped keep me sane that year. I have tons of vids i have not uploaded yet because i feel sad i miss dita. Raccoons act like a mix of dog and cat. Dita played tug of war and chased a ball. And if her dinner was late oh boy did she give me cold shoulder. Quite the personality. Im sure as the weather got colder she would have been happy to just move in with me. Sadly one day in nov she just stopped showing up because it was too cold for me to sit outside anymore. So it was not just the food she came for, but the friendship. They have to have friends they are very social. This past summer i befriended 2 more raccoons, one whos life i helped mend after he showed up here in the spring so skinny and weak. The second night he came by 2 bigger raccoons that were in the area beat him up really bad. They literary bit his butt off. He had huge open wounds on both sides of his tail.Wildlife places were already overwhelmed. So they asked me to just monitor him. I do not think he would have survived if not for my help. I set out good food for him every day so he did not have to go far and could rest and heal. If he had to go look for food i know he would not have made it. By this fall he had even made a friend and shared his food with her. And both of them nearly as wide as they are long now. All set for winter. Sadly he stopped showing up about 2 weeks ago but his buddy still does. She leaves his dish alone and never tried to eat his food. They had a team thing going on. He refused to eat his peanut butter stuffed oatmeal cookie sandwiches, without nearly dissolving them to nothing in water. Then she would eat the cookie soup. So now i have to pour water over her food to make it mush for her, since he stopped coming around. I named them jack and diane.
Have you ever thought that raccoons and pups can get along?🧐❤
In a domestic setting, it's not surprising (but still lovely to see!)
Absolutely❤❤❤❤

It sounds like you're facing quite a challenge with the raccoons in your backyard. While they can be cute, their behavior, like you described, can indeed cause problems for homeowners, especially when it comes to gardens and property damage.
If you're considering alternatives to removal, it's important to remember that wild animals should be managed by professionals to ensure their welfare and the safety of your property. You might want to explore options like contacting local wildlife rescue organizations or animal control services that can safely and responsibly handle raccoon removal and relocation if necessary. It's essential to prioritize the well-being of both the animals and your property.
There so cute I can't stand it 😍🥰
Heartwarming ❤❤❤❤
Oh wow I had no idea racoons could be so affectionate
Awww.. adorable!!! 🙏🏼
Boone the racoon! 😂 I love it
Who would also think raccoons and skunks could be pals.
I just tossed out nuts for my 06:20 visitor! Only one right now.. but I have had 8 at one time!
