F30 Rear Differential Fluid Change and Diagnosis

- Hello My Good People,
In this video i'll be replacing the F30 rear differential fluid. One of the most crucial parts of your differential is the fluid itself and even more importantly is replacing the fluid at its regularly suggested interval. Choosing the correct gear oil will ensure the longest and potentially a trouble-free life for your BMW's differential. For this video it will be for my BMW F30 335i, I recommend the Genuine BMW G1 Hypoid Differential Fluid 75w-80. NOTE: I'm not a certified mechanic or do this as a profession.
SIDE NOTE - I added an additional half bottle to the differential once I lowered the front end but I did not get a chance to record.

Did you drop the front of the car before filling? May not have filled fully if tilted back slightly (drain plug on back side). Thanks for the video though! Will be trying today

So how were you able to add more fluid if it was overflowing as shown on video? Was the car not leveled? I'm going to perform this soon and just wanted to know as much as possible.
I originally drained as much as I could as you saw and then added enough until it started coming out. If a little starts coming back out, that’s usually a good indication you’ve added enough.
Hi, thanks for this video! Can I use oil SAE 75w85 GL4/GL5 or I must use only oil SAE 75W85 GL5?
I think the amount of differential oil you added is insufficient. Normally, you should add about 0.9 L.
Yea, I had thought about that after I posted the video. Between what several dealers had told me and what the BMW community suggested, they seemed to all contradict. I’ve added more since then. Thank you for commenting and watching I really appreciate it.
