There are a lot of stories about german audiences being quite more reserved and not so enthusiastic, and that's true. But we will always be friendly to artists and especially to children performing. I attended a concert of "The King" in Heidelberg years ago where he let his son play the guitar for a bit and the audience made it the time of his life.

Took me longer that I care to admit to realize she has a key in her ear.
When guests reach the point right before they sit down in the chair, it's always awkward. Some people face the audience and inch backwards into the chair, which shows they have stage awareness. While other guests turn their backs to the audience to sit down, which I think may be a sign of poor stage etiquette. Alicia Keys has been the only guest to have finessed the moment by twirling gracefully before sitting.
