Thank god they didn't have the actors try to use terrible Russian accents. Having them speak in plain English works since we don't have to worry about translation or butchered accents.
Honestly, it would have been much better if they spoke in Russified english. It makes you feel like you're actually there, and has a better feel to it. And on top of all of that, Russians would never say: "Kiss my Russian ass" that's just so British and American. I don't like this trailer at all.
Markoscream I totally disagree. Why have English actors act in a russian accent when they spoke russian in the first place? In this way, they can express subtleties like socioeconomic background with english accents that you could not get with an unauthentic foreign accent.
@@alanz4819 I just hate hearing a perfect British accent in Russia, or any other foreign accent in a country it's not connected to, it's unnatural. An aggressive invading force which he'd spent years supplying and even helped the Nazis train up their military and develop their tanks in Russia so as to evade the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. Also, if Stalin hadn't joined in with the Nazis to "aggressively invade" Poland then the Nazis wouldn't have been able to defeat France and drive the Brits off the Continent. And without the Continent secured the Nazis could never have invade the Soviet Union. So, thanks to Stalin's helping make the Nazis stronger, better trained, better equipped, and have secure borders to their west, the Nazis were thus able to invade and slaughter millions of Russians. Yeah, lots to thank "Uncle Joe" for, eh?
Johnny, Just what did Stalin get his body count up to? 40,000,000 people? 50,000,000? I know Mao took that as a personal challenge that he couldn't let stand so he, in the name of Communism, slaughtered even more but still...
This is absolutely hilarious and thrilling at the same time!!! Though it is a black comedy, it is incredibly true to life! And as Russian I can say it might be one of the best movies of those ugly times. Thanx to all who made it! Excellent job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Some of the comments are laughably stupid. On the one hand, you have people complaining that "This was a bad time in human history! How can we laugh about it?" Get the fuck over it, it's satire, and I suggest you watch Black Adder Goes Forth for a truly awe-inspiring comedy series about WWI which was just as horrific, maybe more so. On the other hand, you have cunts complaining that "they don't have Russian accents". Why would they be speaking *English* to each other in Russian accents? We are hearing their equivalent of naturally spoken language (from the perspective of the British writers and actors anyway). The idea of having actors speaking English in a foreign accent relative to a certain country was outdated years ago.
By the way, just as an historical announcement (I would never lie to you), right after they filmed the movie "Tea With Mussolini," they planned for a sequel titled, "Shooting the Shit with Stalin."" -- Old Man Bob
Why do they never make a comedy about nazism? Let's see - The Producers, Springtime for Hitler, Hogans Heroes, Hillary Clinton speaches...... -- Old Man Bob
Who cares? If the Russians want to make a movie about Stalin they can make one. It's a comedy, they aren't going to hire a shit ton of Russian actors for it.
>Swedish Do you not know your own history? If you did, then this is something you should've wanted for a looooooooong time. I know I did, as a Ukrainian.
Serious question, I've been re-watching this trailer for weeks and I understand that the film was released on September 8th. Does anyone know where the hell I can watch it? I really want to see this!
Like a Russian, like a man who lives 20 years in the Soviet Union. I love this movie!!! Great job and very very very funny! But suddenly this movie is banned in Russia. :(
Dengism is much more fun, you get to be socially correct being a commie, but at the same time you get loads of private property and money cause the 'current socio-economic conditions' are not right yet to implement the full revolutionary ideal and reject materialism.

when stalin died, beria's days were numbered - and it was a very small number - literally way too many skeletons in the closet - this happens when your favorite resort hang out is the Lubyanka.......tovarich!
@Alex French Actually his death was rather quiet. By time he passed out he already was away from politics, and events that followed were not so fun in potential. Thrilling for sure, but still they would rather make other genra of film. Maybe a psycological thriller about Trotskiy rivalring Stalin and witnessing his support being reduced in subtle and then increasingly harsh ways, with culmination being a shot in middle of mexican desert. Maybe something else. But yep, got to agree - events after Lenin's death are sure good cinema fuel.
Well the movie was banned in Russia. They explained it that some stalinist shit still form a large part of our society, thats very sad. Some of them are young, i dont know, when we would escape from the soviet mentality, hope it'll happen soon. Ps the movie is great, but for us there's only tears.
Anton Marakulin Putin fuels that Stalinist shit because he longs for Russia to return to those days. I wish that your people could depose him and all of his crony billionaires and have your country to your own. Same piece of garbage we are having to deal with here with Trump. Except we have term limits for presidency, so we'll be rid of him eventually.
Well Stalin mostly destroyed my country and I am feeling the shadow of his misery even to this day in my personal life. His image is both disgusting to me and mainly reminds me of cruelty, pain and thousands of ruined lives. That being said, this trailer looks like shit. It's a shitty comedy buddy. Most of the films in hollywood are sadly. Stop generalizing, you don't have to be a fucking commie to not like a shitty film.
unfortunately this film doesnt look like shit, but its just the simple piece of shit, and a trillion positive comments from people with a picture of Marcus Mosiah Garvey in their profiles never make this film a masterpiece for all time.
I have seen loads of comments about angry Russians and angry comminists hating this film. But I havent yet seen any comments from angry Russians and angry comminists hating this film. I am not up on the latest how to comment on the net rule book. But I am sure there is one that says, wait for a comment, before you disgaree with that comment. :)
This promises to be hilarious so hopefully they will start demonstrating the film in cinemas before long. Being Russian can't see how a bit of fun on the topic can harm.
Economically, this will be a great movie! And artistically - IT IS BRILLIANT!! As an added bonus, it is absolutely solid gold plated guaranteed to QUADRUPLE vodka sales across the country!!! And that may have been the true purpose of the film in the first place -- Old Man Bob
Because then they would sound like foreigners, which they're not, they're speaking in their native language so when you switch the language to English it makes sense to have English accents.
This movie was actually drawn from a two-part comic book series made by French authors Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin. Look it up, the comic book actually puts more emphasis on the tragicomical aspect of it all.
The criticisms of this trailer summed up I don't like this film because I don't like dark political comedy. I don't understand that comedy is the best way of mocking authoritarian regimes. I personally don't understand black humour at all and don't know about the events surrounding Stalin's death and why it is such a good setting for a political comedy. I don't like this film because I am a Communist and I don't like having the realities of Inner Party Communist politics after a power vacuum being exposed in a humorous way that makes my ideology look fucking retarded. I don't like this film because I am a Russian Nationalist that wants to defend a Georgian street thug that starved and enslaved my people and nearly lost the war but I have to defend this monster or face the idea of Westerners mocking my nations history. I am simply here to autistically screech about this film mocking my country's past which contains events that are easily exploitable for a dark political comedy. I must defend my country's honour like the little Putin sycophant I am. I don't like this film because the actors use their native accents instead of constantly using dodgy Russian ones. I am unbelievably petty to not see past this aspect of the film. I don't like this film because the actors are not Russian. I do not understand that this film is for a *English speaking audience* and so having Russian actors does not add to the film. I cannot see that this film has great comedic actors like Jeffrey Tambor, Steve Buscemi, Micheal Palin and Jason Isaacs that are seasoned actors that will likely do great performances in this film. Never mind that I want some B list Russian actors to do the parts.
The biggest irony here is that the studio entertainment one UK who made this movie that criticize dictatorship has disabled comments on the official trailer published in their UA-cam channel
RoninTF2011 you missed my point dude, I'm not against making fun of dictatorship, I like the movie I'm just saying that disabling the comments in a movie that criticize dictatorship is a bit hypocritical.
Jorma Jurrila same thing with Stalin he silenced all opposition because he doesn't want to be a target of western propaganda war against him. you can't silence everyone cuz your afraid of criticism and say it's because of Russian cyberwar. actually that's how dictatorship works.
My grandma was a young girl in primary school when Stalin died. She told me, the whole class and teacher were crying while she was trying to start crying also, she was just 9 years old, she felt so ashamed that she didn't manage to cry as all the others. she has been thinking that something was wrong with her, she just hided her face with her hands so no one would see and tried to make some crying noise. BTW, I you think that only Russian people are affected by patriotic propaganda, you are wrong...

I want to take this opportunity to debunk some of the assumptions people are erroneously making about this film: - This movie is about what happened just AFTER the death of Stalin. It doesn't go out of its way to victimize or the man, and it is certainly not focused on him. It is chiefly about the mad scramble for power by his inner circle for the vacuum his death leaves behind. - This wasn't made, directed, or even produced anywhere near Hollywood. This is a joint British-French-Canadian independent film that just happens to have the cast and production quality of a potential Hollywood feature. - As emphasized by many of the more level-headed in the comments, this film is a work of comedy and satire by the formidable Armando Iannucci, who made his name crucifying (with great hilarity) Western governments. Why he should be stopped from giving the Russians (and eventually the Germans, but hell, they get enough wacky Nazi films already) the same treatment is bordering on hypocrisy. - Finally, as also an incidental work of history the film takes some significant pains to introduce some figures in the then-Presidium that have, to my knowledge, never been introduced in Western media. Who can say from a diet of Western TV, films, and other popular media that they have heard the names of Mikoyan, Bulganin, Kaganovich, or even Malenkov? The effort alone is quite admirable.

Schwatvogel 20 Million!
Like stalin's kill count
Why make trillions when we could make...
Billions? *puts pinky finger on lips*
Schwatvogel Can you guys PLEASE. 👏 watch my latest video i just uploaded like 30 min ago
As long as the people (via completely fair and uncorrupted commissars) own the means of production in your mine!
Wonder what Stalin would say if he saw this was his legacy.
He was a piece of shit. Who gives a fuck about his legacy?
LOL, Stalin fought and won the biggest battles in human history against an aggressive invading force. His place in history is sealed.
Rojava Bashur Yes, he completely and utterly decimated the people of Russia.
Johnny,
Just what did Stalin get his body count up to? 40,000,000 people? 50,000,000? I know Mao took that as a personal challenge that he couldn't let stand so he, in the name of Communism, slaughtered even more but still...
You know when a country doesn't really change is when a satirical movie about that country is banned....
Why do they never make a comedy about nazism? Is it because jews are more important than the 100 million victims of communism?
By the way, just as an historical announcement (I would never lie to you), right after they filmed the movie "Tea With Mussolini," they planned for a sequel titled, "Shooting the Shit with Stalin."" -- Old Man Bob
Why do they never make a comedy about nazism? Let's see - The Producers, Springtime for Hitler, Hogans Heroes, Hillary Clinton speaches...... -- Old Man Bob
msinvincible2000 100 million? Where did you get this number?
@msinvincible2000
From a "Great Dictator" to "Iron Skies 2", they been making and still making comedies about nazists. Chill your trigger.
is anyone in this movie actually Russian?
Who cares? If the Russians want to make a movie about Stalin they can make one. It's a comedy, they aren't going to hire a shit ton of Russian actors for it.
Agreed. The movie looks dumb. Why was it made?
+Odeltor Guess what, I'm (half) Russian too, but this is Hollywood. No need to take it seriously, it's all entertainment.
*Odeltor* You are nazi, that's why this movie hits you.
well it looks hilarious at your expense.
"He's lying in a puddle of indignity!"
Red Army Choir got me.
Shut up
since when did Soviet politician's talk wirh a strong Yorkshire accent?
Mark Goodair It's a comedy not a historical drama.
Since when did they talk with any of those accents? Why single that one out?
Mark Goodair all the time duh
Zhukov was from the Don-bass, a region of Russia which can equate to yorkshire if you were paralleling Russia and England.
Since they invaded and occupied it obviously...dumbass
Can’t wait to see this lol
What are you laughing at, Adolf? He outlived you
daddy stalin give me your "commies"
jOsHuA -why- o my
jOsHuA -why- this is mine now
Lol . Why when people make fun off commies I see liberals feel offended?
jOsHuA -why- 500th like
No

Do you not know your own history? If you did, then this is something you should've wanted for a looooooooong time.
I know I did, as a Ukrainian.
One3673241 ah we have a Ukrainian guy here. Pls hate more on Russians
I do, every single day.
One3673241 what a fucking shame
Serious question, I've been re-watching this trailer for weeks and I understand that the film was released on September 8th. Does anyone know where the hell I can watch it? I really want to see this!
Liberal Bane i Also really want to see it but cant Find it anywere. But i do know it gets a blu-ray release soon. I would aim for that.
October 20th is the first proper release, it has only been at festivals like Cannes and Tribeca so far.
In hell!
12th October
Liberal Bane good question, I too am looking & waiting to see this movie.... No problem lol
It looks hilarious
"Don't worry, nobody's going to get killed, I promise you!" (/grimace/)
Like a Russian, like a man who lives 20 years in the Soviet Union. I love this movie!!! Great job and very very very funny! But suddenly this movie is banned in Russia. :(
And where do you live now?
г. Пятигорск и г. Афины.
Stalinists most miserable people on earth
Hakka true
Yep. Always afraid of getting shot for saying something.
Dengism is much more fun, you get to be socially correct being a commie, but at the same time you get loads of private property and money cause the 'current socio-economic conditions' are not right yet to implement the full revolutionary ideal and reject materialism.
Man, this stalin guy sounds like a real bad time
He was a coward
My dream has come true
hitler (may he rot) can spend forever in hell listening to hillary clinton speeches - I know that's really, really mean, and terrible and too much to bear for any human being, but hey, he deserves it!! -- Old Man Bob
Adolf Hitler hello Twin okay Stay in the Grave ill Stay in Argentinië
He lives in our hearts but u dont...
did you went to argentina and change your surname to liepzig
Do radical left wing bigots know that you can detest both Nazi Germany and the murderess soviet Russia?
100% this movie won't be allowed in Putins russia😂😂
Putin isn't a communist and is not sympathetic towards Stalin.
Omfg your English is quite atrocious, I was bestowed with cancer upon reading that.
I meant that for mouser.
The red tsar was only replaced by the ripped tsar, when will the cycle end?
No) it's officially permited)
Thank you sooo much for not making actors speak with a "Russian" accent. Thank you.
Hearing Stalin speak in Cockney was alone worth the price of admission!
I can't be the only person to have thought that the guy in the thumbnail looked like Zaeed Massani from Mass Effect😂😂
*_I don't remember my COMRADES as being so "BRITISH"._*
Great great movie. Loved it! Going to watch it with friends again this weekend. Many witty comedic lines. Brilliant movie.
"Should we investigate"
"Should you shut the fuck up?"
"When I said no problem, what I meant was No! Problem."
"Snaky little shit"
"How can you run and plot at the same time"
"I'm the peacemaker and I'll fuck up anyone who gets in my way"
"I may as well shoot myself like mother"
"Jesus Christ, did Coco Chanel take a shit on your head?"
Christ, this film is going to be funny. That peacemaker line is still making me chuckle hours after.
Khurschev be like: "It's time to shine BLYAT!"
I really thought this would be a serious film about the ussr and god am I glad I was wrong
At 1:00 I just love how Steve Buscemi (the politician) and Jason Isaacs (General) look at each other like
"The Fuck?"
What would Stalin say if he sees this trailer?
Alpi Uğurlu Corpses don't talk.
Alpi Uğurlu Cheeki Breeki
Alpi Uğurlu He would call the NKVD.
i know... ამათი კარგიც მოვტყან (Translation: F*ck this sh*t)
"Good joke, now to gulag".
imagine the russians make a comedy film and the name is “The Death of Martin Luther King”
Or the death of JFK.
Funny you're saying that since you have Chinese letters in your nickname... And China is on the same level of Racism against blacks as the KKK.
China don't have the same level of Racism against blacks as the KKK because private groups are restricted in china, even though there is no law against hate groups in china but chinese gov don't need law to disband a hate group, they will say you cause social instability and then lock you up for good
How on earth can you compare a hero like MLK was the biggest terrorist in history ?
...what the fuck?
Great new movie Jason Isaacs, can not wait. Could you please take a moment out of your successful career and kindly let us know just what you meant in that tweet?
Music is Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin - Polonaise. You're welcome.
Russian history is serious business you guys!
-Butthurt Ivan
It's not even a popular name....
Real Russians prefer pre-soviet union
i'm russian and i'm so hyped for this movie
oh boi, my name is Ivan, how did u knew what i said? Another spy, huh??
when stalin died, beria's days were numbered - and it was a very small number - literally way too many skeletons in the closet - this happens when your favorite resort hang out is the Lubyanka.......tovarich!
It would be more interesting to see about the death of Lenin
Alex French Holy shit!!!! GIVE THIS MAN MONEY!!! ;-; I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!
SilentBigsteve wrote that comment before realising it was satirical
@Alex French
Actually his death was rather quiet.
+Iwor735 I too want this
Oh my christ this looks hilarious, cannot wait to see it
Well the movie was banned in Russia.
"This film looks like shit" - typical comment of a guy with the profile image or the username vaguely linked to Stalin, USSR, KGB or communism.
Lorscia Huh. I am KGB agent, i will find you and kick your capitalist ass just with no reason. But film really shit. )))
Very Fast где он её разрушил? просто глобус фобий у тебя. смешно
unfortunately this film doesnt look like shit, but its just the simple piece of shit,
and a trillion positive comments from people with a picture of Marcus Mosiah Garvey in their profiles never make this film a masterpiece for all time.
It looks really really terrible. Maybe could be watchable with at least russian accents and without all the american humor. Just watchable.
YEAH,this movie is not for russians but for people who depends on hatred towards ussr
This promises to be hilarious so hopefully they will start demonstrating the film in cinemas before long. Being Russian can't see how a bit of fun on the topic can harm.
Sort comments by newest, not by top.
You make no sense
Economically, this will be a great movie! And artistically - IT IS BRILLIANT!! As an added bonus, it is absolutely solid gold plated guaranteed to QUADRUPLE vodka sales across the country!!! And that may have been the true purpose of the film in the first place -- Old Man Bob
"Should we investigate?"
"Should you shut the f*ck up before you get us both killed?"
I ain't dead im sleeping
0:08 when you see a funny meme and you die at laugh
The only good thing about dictatorship is you don't have to worry about the polls;)
You know what's ironic, that Putin doesn't wanna show a satire about the death of the guy who killed 11 million people in his own country.
Lol they didn't even bother with the accents!
why bother with accents when they're speaking english
It's not a documentary
Armando Iannucci purposefully didn't want them to sound Russian. It adds to the ridiculousness.
Virolaxion, yep that's what I thought.
Because then they would sound like foreigners, which they're not, they're speaking in their native language so when you switch the language to English it makes sense to have English accents.
Loving these Kid that think Communism was good and act Like adults and defend a Man that Was Wrong all along
No CSGO in this movie 0/10
This movie was actually drawn from a two-part comic book series made by French authors Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin. Look it up, the comic book actually puts more emphasis on the tragicomical aspect of it all.
The criticisms of this trailer summed up
I don't like this film because I don't like dark political comedy.
Those Slavaboos love to make mockery of the West yet they hate it when it’s turned on them.
Why am I scarily reminded of Inglorious Basterds.
>implying Stalin is able to die and didn't just go into hiding after faking his own death
Lol
Can't remember the last time I've looked forward to a movie this much...
The biggest irony here is that the studio entertainment one UK who made this movie that criticize dictatorship has disabled comments on the official trailer published in their UA-cam channel
Its a duty to make fun of dictators. oterhwise they'd think they something better...
RoninTF2011 you missed my point dude, I'm not against making fun of dictatorship, I like the movie I'm just saying that disabling the comments in a movie that criticize dictatorship is a bit hypocritical.
It's not "hypocritical" at all. They don't want to be a target of the Russian cyberwar campaing and have stupid flamewars in their comment section.
Jorma Jurrila same thing with Stalin he silenced all opposition because he doesn't want to be a target of western propaganda war against him. you can't silence everyone cuz your afraid of criticism and say it's because of Russian cyberwar. actually that's how dictatorship works.
Movie studios are private companies, they don't have to tolerate any bullshit that's not in their shareholders' interests.
KGB : Why you not cry enough??
My grandma was a young girl in primary school when Stalin died.
She told me, the whole class and teacher were crying while she was trying to start crying also, she was just 9 years old, she felt so ashamed that she didn't manage to cry as all the others. she has been thinking that something was wrong with her, she just hided her face with her hands so no one would see and tried to make some crying noise.
BTW, I you think that only Russian people are affected by patriotic propaganda, you are wrong...
Faking emotions is typical in the fascist commie countries. Exactly the same shit is going on in the North Korea right now.
This is like the interview should have been.
This looks like the perfect movie!
They need to make "The Interview 2" where they deal with Putin. THAT would be an epic movie!
This reminds me so much of The Grand Budapest Hotel! I love it!
Yessss! When I was describing this movie to a friend I said the style of humor reminded me of the Grand Budapest Hotel :) which is one of my favorite movies!
The Death of Putin Official Trailer #666
Bringing a couple of British people to do a comedy about Russia has a 100% of been deadly
Nobody "brought" anybody. A British produced decided to do it based on a book.
To anyone who's watched this the bit at the beginning with the concert did actually happen.
In Soviet Russia, comedy laughs at you!
В Советской России комедия смеется над тобой!
ты хоть знаешь, предысторию этой формы фразы?
I was an American soldier. There is a saying ... "Once A Soldier, Always A Soldier". Our governments will exist ... "in disagreement." I saw the horrors of war. I only ask about this, because I hope that you are a real "free" citizen of Russia ... What is the sense of war between Russia and the United States of America? What are your thoughts and feelings?

Я был американским солдатом. Есть поговорка ... «Однажды Солдат, Всегда Солдат». Наши правительства будут существовать ... «в несогласии». Я видел ужасы войны. Where's my boi Nikita?
Evan Crawford in UN assembly with shoe
Khrushchev is speaking with an American accent.
it was Buscemi, although he looks nothing like Khruschev xD
This looks like a fun one.
Yeah it better be or else
This looks like propaganda
the moment when Marshall Zhukov enters - that's just brilliant!
"Good luck, ladies."
Guard1: should we investigate
Guard2: should you shut the fuck up before you get us both killed
Me:DEAD
0:15 XDDDDDDDD
Ikr xD
One fo those films which is either going to be really good or really bad.
Americans will probably think that this movie is a documentary.
WTF is this, it looks really good.
1877 communist dislike D:
Stalin did nothing wrong. There is no such thing as Stalinism, he was a Marxist-Leninist
if only those 22 million dead soviets citizens could disagree with that statement
D V 22 millions??? Are you crazy only half of this number died in gulag and they deserved it, they were not innocent they were exploiting the workers and resisted the coletivisation
+Mao Zedong yeah right
''22 million'', wrong...during political persecutions 1937: 353,074 shot dead, 1938: 328,612 shot dead, Golodomor in all republics (50% of that number in ukraine) 247,157, executed soldiers that committed desertion 1941-1944: circa 158,000, died from deportation 1922-1940: circa 390,000, other political executions 1921-1953: 799,455, died in Gulags circa 1,700,000 (most of them in the most notorious one called ,Butigichag' on the far east of the country, over 300,000)...you do the math...don't listen to any one who tries to deny or exaggerate it...they are both lying...
The movie is banned in Russia. Putin is pathetic leader
Fuck you dipshit. We don't need your shitmovies here. If you are so fucking democratic why don't you show our movies in your studios? We'll also make a good movie about WWII veterans and general Patton scalping eachother and pissing in eachothers mouths.
I want to take this opportunity to debunk some of the assumptions people are erroneously making about this film:
- This movie is about what happened just AFTER the death of Stalin.
Very well put! Agreed I belive people can be misled easily with films like these espcially with this trailer !!! It is much darker then the trailer gives away ! watched this with school as we're learning about the Russia in History, so yeah the circumstances in which I watched it wasn't great ... The trailers pretty good though you can find out about that here:faithtrustandpixedust.blogspot.co.uk/ (if you care to scroll down just a bit ), if your interested to see exactly what I thought. I'm a new blogger btw and still trying to figure out how to make it successful so if you/anyone got any hints/ tips feel free to share, please! Thanks! :) I also have another blog that's science-based if anyone's also interested? links here:nikkiandscience.blogspot.co.uk/ again I know there's not a lot , but I'm just starting out and so your help would really be appreciated as I really would like to grow these!
Thanks,(again).

Good old Ronald Reagan still making soviet jokes from the grave...
Honestly, one the best films I have seen in a long time
