Your body and brain thrive on glucose, but the delicate balance of “just right” and “too much” has a very small margin for error. Is white sugar, white four, and white rice the problem? Are natural sugars the solutions? The answer to both is “no”. Your body has a very limited capacity to store glucose in your liver and muscle, and only about 5 grams circulating at any time. Excess glucose, whether from cake or 7-grain bread, creates the same issues. The poison is in the dose, glycemic load should be the first-order concern.
You are dangerously misleading people with your incorrect message. The effect of sugar depends on insulin sensitivity. Stress, lack of sleep, and fat consumption all reduce insulin sensitivity. Avoiding those unhealthy things to maintain insulin sensitivity means you can safely enjoy as much carbohydrates as you want. Also protein contributes significantly to elevated blood glucose levels. You *have* to talk about insulin sensitivity when you talk about glucose. Actually the part of sugar (sucrose) that can cause trouble in isolation (e.g. high-fructose corn sirup) is fructose.

Yes I agree. Unfortunately the large portion of foods we eat has too much in it. Hence why people cut out the processed foods. Too much added nonsense. There’s plenty of good healthy carbs in potatoes, fruits, and other healthy foods. I agree with a little is fine but not many people can control this “little” amount.
the insulin response is not similar. i know this for a fact, i have type 1 diabetes and dose out my insulin at every meal. 40g of rice carbs is completely different to 40g of sugar carbs. rice is what i call a slow carb, since its complex and it takes a bit longer to digest. i mostly never get big spikes of blood glucose from rice. with sugar/glucose tablets its completely different, i would skyrocket in terms of blood glucose if i were to eat 40g of sugar at once. another example would be fast food. a double crispy kfc burger has 37 grams of carbs, yet it spikes my blood glucose very high and it easily goes down with physical activity. this is all because in those 37g of carbs, around 7 are processed sugars, which when combined with the slow carbs in the bread result in a heavy spike. its pretty incredible how much stuff goes unnoticed by non diabetics.
You can't really say that though because everybody has generally wildly different reactions as far as insulin goes. A lot of people get a blood sugar spike from black coffee. A lot of people also don't.

the issue nowadays is that most processed food items and beverages contain sugar. it's not bad in itself, just that you rarely realise how much sugar you actually eat
That 5 grams of sugar is more than your body needs at any one time. There is no need to EVER eat sugar because your liver will make exactly as much as necessary.
I believe this explanation is for people who does not have the type 2 diabetes or prediabetes yet... Now if you got it you gotta villify them sugars at least for some time can be years since it all depends on your body recovering because some recover fast some slow

In terms of white sugar, I never really eat it... but that's just because I'd prefer food for all the obvious reasons.

True, and most of the commercial foods hide so much sugar.

You don’t need much glucose per day. Also refined sugars have many other negative effects even in small doses
I love when people compare rice to straight up sugar like they’re even remotely close to being similar
The insulin response is very similar. Obviously chemically they're totally different.
@@fewworddotrick rice has fiber. It is not the same. That’s like saying a banana is the same as straight up juice
I never said it didn't, I just said the insulin response is similar.
the insulin response is not similar. i know this for a fact, i have type 1 diabetes and dose out my insulin at every meal.
A lot of people also don't.
should also mention each person dosage may vary as directly related to its body mass height and weight.
he should, except 75% of the people wouldn't even understand that calculation, and the other 25% would use it as an excuse to exaggerate and say "eVeRyoNe iS diFferEnt", without understanding it as well.

How about you just cut out all processed sugars and grain/yeast based foods and replace glucose sourcing with natural fructose in fruits.
Fruits happen to be the carb and sugar sources our systems evolved with.
@@MasterThought72there is nothing wrong with eating a treat here and there wine and soda is too good to hop off but fruits are better taste wise and health wise

Excellent explanation.
I've been wearing a continuous glucose monitor and it's really enlightening to see how what I'm eating affects my glucose levels. Easy for me to see what foods I've been eating that spike blood glucose and how I've been overeating. I think too much carbs and too much food in general.

@@ExplorerBen7 The recommended amount of added sugar varies, but it's generally advised to limit added sugars to less than 10% of your daily caloric intake. We are a society of excess......
Interested to see other health vloggers to clarify whatever. It's a serious matter.
Another thing to note.
The dose also changes based on how much you use your body. If you want to eat more sugar, exercise even more.
It both allows your body to use that excess sugar, both as fuel to work with and fuel for repairing micro-tears in muscles.
The body and brain can also thrive on fat/ketones.
Those processes that absolutely need glucose(and there are a few) can be had through Gluconeogenisus, where your body makes its own.
Having said that, I agree wholeheartedly that the poison is in the dose. I just feel folks need to know that they don't HAVE to have sugar, especially if you are already metabolicly damaged.
Thank you so much
