This reminds me of the time when I suggested that Jaquie and Judd may be calling Harlow Hippo too often. Do you remember when one of them would call Harlow and she only reacted when they called her by her nickname? :-)
Hi Jaquie I just wanted to thank you for always being positive because despite your chronic illnesses you still find a way to look at the positive, and you inspire me because even as someone (like me) who doesn't have any chronic illness it is hard to look at the positive, and yet you manage to see the positive every day.
It is definitely a real thrill for Harlow to train with you! She is so smart! I am loving dogs so much and we always used to have dogs when I was a child. Harlow must have gone through a very hard training to get as smart and fast in reacting on your issues! Great that she is helping you! Have a great day! Greetings from Germany. sincerely Britta
Not only are you grateful for Harlow, but I'm sure Judd and your family are very grateful that she is there with you when you are alone. She is a super smart, funny, sweet girl and she clearly adores both you and her job. I'm sorry that you had such a rough afternoon yesterday, Jaquie. I hope today goes well with IVIG, etc. Take care of yourself. xoxox Heather🇨🇦
That's amazing how she can sense that you're going to faint 10-15 minutes before you do. She is so intelligent and aware! (And sooo stinkin' adorable!)
Hi Jaquie - I have watched all of the Harlow training videos you have posted , and you are a very remarkable young woman. Not many people could train service dogs as you have (twice) - even with an extraordinary pup like Harlow to work with! It takes great patience, practice, skill , and much love. And the wisdom to reach for help when you need it. To do all of this so young, and while you were growing ever sicker, is incredible. You are amazing, and you and Harlow are an awesome team. Thanks for the wonderful videos. (Beth)
Hello Jacquie, Harlow did good in her training. She a very good and smart dog. Love Harlow. I have dogs but not service dog training. But my girl dog will reacted to my health problems. She help me with fainting spells getting out of bed when I am to sore. She laids on my stomach when my blood pressure and pulse gets to low. It's amazing how dogs can sense things and help us. I hope you feel better rest up sweetie.
Ok first I'm in love with Harlow ❤😊 I want a dog just like her but I don't even need a service dog. Secondly Jaquie I'm sure none of us are actually expecting you to film while you having a rough time. Ijs as a regular person with no illnesses I'm just glad for the things you do share I am learning so much.
Darn! This vlog started on such a positive note, I was hoping it was going to stay that way, and I'm sure you were too. Harlow is such a great help. And I love her crinkly ears! She looks like she got a perm.
Mija, I think I know why you got so bad feeling in the afternoon,...because when you were doing your training with her, she brought you a bottle of water instead of Ranch Dressing, lol. Not funny, but I just thought maybe you needed a giggle, eh? Love you sweetie, rest and feel better
Sorry for your difficult day. Easter night I almost ended up in the ER for my severe asthma. I pray for u everyday and you have helped me through my medical problems ( which are nowhere as severe or compare to yours) feel better soon lots of love
Love the training video! You've taught me a lot on how to train my pup. Seeing you and Harlow work together has really pushed me on wanting to train service dogs! Thank you!
We understand!! The most important things to do r what you and your body need!!! It is SO helpful for other warriors to see what you guys do, and how you manage your challenges-when ur able!!!!
You should check to see if there are any self serve dog wash places that you could bring Harlow for her baths. That way she can get clean and super dry while helping with the Shedding. Having a dog hair dryer on your dog helps the fur come out immensely. There are special ways a groomer could do Harlows bathing as well to really get the fur out. The drying is also super important for their skin and coat especially with goldens. You’d notice a huge difference in her fur with proper drying too.
I saw a tip about using sanitary towels in place of gauze as they tend to draw liquid away from the surface layer, and are thicker/more absorbent (as well as being so for longer) than gauze. Maybe you could talk to your health team about potentially cutting one of those super thin sanitary liners in half (then add in a slit to put it into place!). I have seen reputable medical websites recommend using sanitary towels and/or liners in place of bandages or wound dressings if additional suitable dressings are unavailable/unobtainable at the time. Also, you don't need to use the super expensive ones either, get as many as you can for the price, and buy the cheapest ones! There are also free samples available from some companies which you can just work on getting them for the future, and you can usually specify what types you would like as a sample. If you don't use towels/pads during menstrual bleeds or don't have menstrual bleeds, just request liners. Usually you can check around the websites for details such as how the product was made, what chemicals/fragrance etc is used on the product (and if there is a no fragrance etc option), and even email them regarding the potential risk for you by requesting/using them.
That is one area where I can relate. Our illnesses are different. Mine our my eyes, heart defects, and asthma etc due to hla b 27 genetic factor and Turners Syndrome. But just last week I was working on the computer and it set off sudden vertigo. The kind where you can not walk, see, or keep down any fluids and the world won't stop spinning. I was thankful to be able to return that weekend to my normal hospital where they helped me as best they could. But that morning I was my normal self just hanging out with my niece. It can be a let down to have to halt activity. But I try to remind myself that this issue will change in some way, change is inevitable in life, and it is not my fault my body had a freak out. God bless you. Hope today was better. Hugs
Thank you for the training tips. I will be using them for sure! I hope you had a great evening and a good appt with your next doctor. I truly appreciate all you are able to show us, and understand when you are unable. May your night be restful and peaceful.
hope rest was good! Are you going to talk about autism awareness/acceptance month this April? I think it's important that we work on fighting the stigma and educate people on our neurodivergence!
I so wish you can find a happy medium to all of this, it must be so frustrating! When you are not doing so good, your R eye is the first indicator that I can see, it becomes smaller & droopy. My body finally gave me an indication to stop what I was doing today. It’s about time!!..lol.
I have Hip Dysplasia in both of my hips and some days it hurts and hard to get around. So by watching your videos, I think of you and how you get through the bad days by staying positive and always having God with you. Sarah Bender
PS for yesterday’s comments: You can learn a lot about a church from its website if it has a good one. That’s how I decided which church to visit when I moved. It was a great fit!
It’s Me It’s Me It looked like to me that she watches and alerts to only persistent itching. I feel like if she just scratched something once Harlow would just categorize it as a “fidget” type movement but when she scratches like anaphylaxis symptoms it’s a more persistent and forceful itch so Harlow can tell she is uncomfortable. Just my observation but I could be wrong! ☺️
Chealsea is right! If it is a minor itch she does not really care, but the persistent and distressing scratch is what she looks for. Of course, she sometimes makes mistakes!
Better that she over react and tell you when it is a general itch (a mistake) than to miss a 'real' one. She is one smart pup who loves her momma and wants her to be safe. Har never ceases to amaze me AND put a smile on my face.
Thanks for the response. i figured it was something like that. Its so amazing how shes able to pick up on it. i really love watching yall train! im actually getting my dog obedience trainer certificate soon. im super excited to possibly train service dogs
Hi, Jaquie. I was wondering if you have heard anything about the GPOEM procedure for gastroparesis and what criteria they use to determine if you are a good candidate? I saw a UA-cam about John Hopkins doing a study, but I was skeptical because I know there are lots of UA-camrs around the world with feeding tubes for gastroparesis. It seems that a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure would have been used instead of feeding tubes if it were a viable option for most of us. Thanks in advance for any information you might have on it.
AlienMissy 483 I would think that Harlow would pick up on other signs of distress after the scratches (increased heart rate). Regular scratching would not have those.
OK, one more thing... I love the kinky hair on her ears after a bath. It is so dang cute! It reminds me of the ringlets my daughter used to get after her baths.
Awwwww I’m sorry that you weren’t feeling good but I’m happy your better Harlow did such a great job on her skills love your pink jeggings so cute good luck 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
hope you're feeling better today Jaquie! I have a question for you about the training for the anaphylaxis response if you are feeling well enough to answer comments. Do you ever practice scratching the opposite arm just in case you end up scratching the other arm in a real anaphylaxis attack? Keep being amazing! :)
Loved the video, as always - thank you for educating us! Just one rather irrelevant question - what's up with the fur around Harlow's ears? Has it been crimped ??? XD
When you were doing the training sessions when the music was going and the video was in faster pace - do you use just hand commands or do you vocal and hand commands? Either way, I’m super impressed!
Hi jacquie i just wanted to thank you for inspiring me i love you so much and love harlow i find everything you do interesting love learning about you.i seen some really cool socks today and straight away i thought about you
Have you got the newer IV nausea med yet? I hope when you do it helps. I'm sorry you had such a rough afternoon. Continued prayers. Can you put a link for the new Vera Bradley bag?
I am on tube feeds and not able to keep much of anything down right now due to an uptick in GI issues. My feeds go to my jejunum since I have Gastroparesis. If I do eat, I stick to my safe foods.
Chronically Jaquie thanks for the reply. I hope you don't mind me asking: have you ever tried a naturopathic doctor or herbalist to alleviate some symptoms? ( though you got to be careful because there are a lot of quacks out there.)
I must ask and I really really hope you see this, but how did you go about fading treats? She’s so motivated without treats! Is it only because she is praise motivated as well? Love you guys as a team and I look up to you guys!
4:18 I recognize that from artificial intelligence. 5:59 I remember another video in which you explained that you really wanted Harlow to separate your hand from the place you're scratching. Something like that anyway. 9:04 That's fine, Jaquie. Spreading awareness is important, but your top priority should be your health.
Chronically Jaquie yup! I get anxious and start picking at my skin early on and Sophia is trained to help me notice quirks like that (or when I’m rocking side to side) until she can start picking up on cortisol levels.
If Harlow were near a diff person going developing anaphylaxis would she alert them like she alerts u? .... I kno the other person might not kno what that means but would Harlow still try to allert them?

I love that when Harlow has just been washed the hair on her ears looks like its been crimped, so adorable
Bee Taylor I love that too!
I thought the exact same too. It's like they were crimped with a crimping iron (obv not) but it made me smile lol x
It is definitely a real thrill for Harlow to train with you! She is so smart! I am loving dogs so much and we always used to have dogs when I was a child. Harlow must have gone through a very hard training to get as smart and fast in reacting on your issues! Great that she is helping you!

“You smell like a soggy doggy” 😂😂❤️ so precious the relationship you 2 have.
It’s perfectly fine Jaquie if you don’t want to show us all your downs, we understand. Hope you feel better. ❤️

fine piece of aspergers your name is so good! ❤️❤️❤️
thanks! I like this pun a lot :D
Lol I have always liked your user name! And yes I will, I just figured I had all month to do so (:
Loved your sarcasm and sass when your feeding tube went off😂😂😂
All the feels lol!
I love Harlow’s curly hair on her ears while you were training. I hope you wake up feeling much better!
Great quality video Jacquie, i hope you feel good the day of yalls trip.
Sorry you had a bad afternoon...but the Hippo paw wave...SO CUTE!!

My service pup tells me when I start scratching as well in the same way as Harlow. I love this!
That video was really helpful. I do hope you feel better.
I was totally waiting for Hippo to bring you some ranch! 😂
Aww Harlow is such a sweet dog ☺ xxx
Just saw a post of Harlow on daily mail it was the cutest thing ever!! 😍
Does Harlow react to anyone else in your family scratching their arm too, or just when you do it? :)
AlienMissy 483 I would think that Harlow would pick up on other signs of distress after the scratches (increased heart rate). Regular scratching would not have those.
She has actually never responded to others scratching, not that I know of. Maybe if they had treats nearby lol!
Good question do service dogs only react to those they're trained to work with and help?
i love harlow so much omg shes so cute and smart
Remember when you told your service dog to get you a water bottle out of the fridge and he brought you back ranch 😂
Harlow is amazing! ♡
Hippo is sooooo smart. I love seeing her task on vlog. If she's playing with her toys, and u scratch, will she know? Hope u feel better
Yes she will
I started to advocate for myself more. I got a script for knee braces today to help with arthritis pain and support.
Well done to your dog she amazing dog hope feeling better soon hugs
Thank you for your service Harlow 👌
When your pump went off I thought it was mine :D - Holly

Making me worried that your trip is so soon and your health is being pretty rough. Hope you can get it under control soon.
Me too but all I can do is pray for good results and do the best I can! (:
Have you got the newer IV nausea med yet? I hope when you do it helps. I'm sorry you had such a rough afternoon. Continued prayers. Can you put a link for the new Vera Bradley bag?
Yyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy a vid!!!! Today is my birthday!
Nicole Lifliand, happy birthday!!
Miss Equestrian thank you!!!
You can change the amount of water in the balloon based on the recommendations for your size
We have adjusted it
Remember you switched your feeding tube bag recently. All the beeps might be because the machine/cords are in a weird place
Great content you got! Question: Are you on any dietary diets for your medical conditions? Do you take any vitamins or herbs or supplements?
We do the same scratching response for Sophia (my service dog) except for anxiety!
Awesome! Similar things but different (:
Chronically Jaquie yup! I get anxious and start picking at my skin early on and Sophia is trained to help me notice quirks like that (or when I’m rocking side to side) until she can start picking up on cortisol levels.
Hopr ur better tomorrow Jacquie 💜👍
Love your videos I have 22 weeks puppy who can detect my seizures and don't know to make her a service dog
U & Harlow are so cute! It’s ok Jaquie we love u! & we’ll take u whether ur feeling icky or not!😃👍✌️
I love the music
Do you ever randomly test her or does that confuse her?
Having a chronic illness that's so unpredictable, how are you going to be able to work?
Jacquie - your feeding tube pain may come from the violent vomiting etc, which is probably muscular abdominal pain, not necessarily the feeding tube.
That is a good point!
If Harlow were near a diff person going developing anaphylaxis would she alert them like she alerts u? .... I kno the other person might not kno what that means but would Harlow still try to allert them?
Does ins. cover the mask and filters by chance? I pray you do not have to cary has many epipens has I do.
Hope your having a better day...
Praying you're feeling a little less symptomatic today💕
I’m thinking of getting a service dogs and have a couple of the same health issues (MCAS, gastroparesis and POTS). How much of training can be done with you sitting in a chair? I have issues either being on my feet for a while or standing in one place.
I know people who owner trained and were full or part time WC users
I'm trying to teach my puppy that one trick you called core strengthening(we call it stand tall) but she can't do it. When she sits, she sits "lazy" if that's what you'd call it. Her one leg it tucked under her and the other is off to the side. When she sits like this, she can't balance on her back two legs. Does anyone have any tips to fix the way she sits?
Olivia Shultz try going backwards in your training and teach her to sit square, make sure it's not because it hurts her to sit and sitting lazy is easier on her if that makes sense. Good luck 😀
Check out my training tutorial playlist I have a video on it
Jaquie cariad, could the tight feeling around your stoma just be some initial swelling as your skin reacts to the new tube? Wishing you a better Wednesday sweetie xxxxx xx
Love Harlow! She is soooooo smart! Thank you for showing us a training session.
Do you thing I should teach my puppy to alert to picked at my shirt when I am having anxiety
I had torn the Hymn of my shirt many many times picking at the strings
That is a person choice if you think it will help (:
Harlow is a canine angel😍
I love you Jacquie and Harlow I have only watched a few videos of yours but I love your channel I hope things get better for you sweetheart sorry you have systems have got worse
What do you do if Harlow needs to use the bathroom but you’re the only one home and aren’t well enough to take her outside?
Elizabeth DiMaggio I always assumed she goes to the patch outside where they bathe her.
I actually could not take her out last night so I called my mom to help out
Such a good dog!
Harlow is such a good girl! I love her!!! Good dog!! Can you give her a pet for me? 😄
Your shirt would be perfect for me today... Boy that was a rough day.
Best dogo ever! Best dog!
Could you teach Harlow to alert to alert to your allergies? Such a cigarettes?
Not really because I would have to expose myself to the allergen in order to train it, plus I can avoid mostly avoid the triggers myself if I am vigilant enough
Chronically Jaquie oh ok 😊
I loved your outfit today and harlow is a good girl
YAY! She didn't get the ranch this time, good for her.
You got this!
I really like your channel
Do you have a cat or you alergck
Hey jaquie
Jaquie you're a nice,sweet lady,i like you,be strong pretty lady
I don't always listen to my body.
First! (I think)
