    My 3 year old, as I watch todays vlog: "Whats her dogs name?" "Harlow! You know Harlow." "Is Harlow a hippo?" LOL

      This reminds me of the time when I suggested that Jaquie and Judd may be calling Harlow Hippo too often. Do you remember when one of them would call Harlow and she only reacted when they called her by her nickname? :-)

    Hi Jaquie I just wanted to thank you for always being positive because despite your chronic illnesses you still find a way to look at the positive, and you inspire me because even as someone (like me) who doesn't have any chronic illness it is hard to look at the positive, and yet you manage to see the positive every day.

    It is definitely a real thrill for Harlow to train with you! She is so smart! I am loving dogs so much and we always used to have dogs when I was a child. Harlow must have gone through a very hard training to get as smart and fast in reacting on your issues! Great that she is helping you!
    Have a great day! Greetings from Germany. sincerely Britta

    Not only are you grateful for Harlow, but I'm sure Judd and your family are very grateful that she is there with you when you are alone. She is a super smart, funny, sweet girl and she clearly adores both you and her job. I'm sorry that you had such a rough afternoon yesterday, Jaquie. I hope today goes well with IVIG, etc. Take care of yourself. xoxox Heather🇨🇦

    That's amazing how she can sense that you're going to faint 10-15 minutes before you do. She is so intelligent and aware!
    (And sooo stinkin' adorable!)

    Hi Jaquie - I have watched all of the Harlow training videos you have posted , and you are a very remarkable young woman. Not many people could train service dogs as you have (twice) - even with an extraordinary pup like Harlow to work with! It takes great patience, practice, skill , and much love. And the wisdom to reach for help when you need it. To do all of this so young, and while you were growing ever sicker, is incredible. You are amazing, and you and Harlow are an awesome team. Thanks for the wonderful videos. (Beth)

    Hello Jacquie, Harlow did good in her training. She a very good and smart dog. Love Harlow. I have dogs but not service dog training. But my girl dog will reacted to my health problems. She help me with fainting spells getting out of bed when I am to sore. She laids on my stomach when my blood pressure and pulse gets to low. It's amazing how dogs can sense things and help us. I hope you feel better rest up sweetie.

    Ok first I'm in love with Harlow ❤😊 I want a dog just like her but I don't even need a service dog. Secondly Jaquie I'm sure none of us are actually expecting you to film while you having a rough time. Ijs as a regular person with no illnesses I'm just glad for the things you do share I am learning so much.

    You should check to see if there are any self serve dog wash places that you could bring Harlow for her baths. That way she can get clean and super dry while helping with the Shedding. Having a dog hair dryer on your dog helps the fur come out immensely. There are special ways a groomer could do Harlows bathing as well to really get the fur out. The drying is also super important for their skin and coat especially with goldens. You’d notice a huge difference in her fur with proper drying too.

    I saw a tip about using sanitary towels in place of gauze as they tend to draw liquid away from the surface layer, and are thicker/more absorbent (as well as being so for longer) than gauze. Maybe you could talk to your health team about potentially cutting one of those super thin sanitary liners in half (then add in a slit to put it into place!). I have seen reputable medical websites recommend using sanitary towels and/or liners in place of bandages or wound dressings if additional suitable dressings are unavailable/unobtainable at the time. Also, you don't need to use the super expensive ones either, get as many as you can for the price, and buy the cheapest ones! There are also free samples available from some companies which you can just work on getting them for the future, and you can usually specify what types you would like as a sample. If you don't use towels/pads during menstrual bleeds or don't have menstrual bleeds, just request liners. Usually you can check around the websites for details such as how the product was made, what chemicals/fragrance etc is used on the product (and if there is a no fragrance etc option), and even email them regarding the potential risk for you by requesting/using them.

    That is one area where I can relate. Our illnesses are different. Mine our my eyes, heart defects, and asthma etc due to hla b 27 genetic factor and Turners Syndrome. But just last week I was working on the computer and it set off sudden vertigo. The kind where you can not walk, see, or keep down any fluids and the world won't stop spinning. I was thankful to be able to return that weekend to my normal hospital where they helped me as best they could. But that morning I was my normal self just hanging out with my niece. It can be a let down to have to halt activity. But I try to remind myself that this issue will change in some way, change is inevitable in life, and it is not my fault my body had a freak out. God bless you. Hope today was better. Hugs

    Are her alerts immediate or does she watch for a few seconds to make sure it’s an allergic reaction vs a typical itching? I hope that makes sense

    • @ChelsayAndChristina
      @ChelsayAndChristina 6 років тому +6

      It’s Me It’s Me It looked like to me that she watches and alerts to only persistent itching. I feel like if she just scratched something once Harlow would just categorize it as a “fidget” type movement but when she scratches like anaphylaxis symptoms it’s a more persistent and forceful itch so Harlow can tell she is uncomfortable. Just my observation but I could be wrong! ☺️

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  6 років тому +9

      Chealsea is right! If it is a minor itch she does not really care, but the persistent and distressing scratch is what she looks for. Of course, she sometimes makes mistakes!

    • @heatherd.9390
      @heatherd.9390 6 років тому +2

      Better that she over react and tell you when it is a general itch (a mistake) than to miss a 'real' one. She is one smart pup who loves her momma and wants her to be safe. Har never ceases to amaze me AND put a smile on my face.

    Hi, Jaquie. I was wondering if you have heard anything about the GPOEM procedure for gastroparesis and what criteria they use to determine if you are a good candidate? I saw a UA-cam about John Hopkins doing a study, but I was skeptical because I know there are lots of UA-camrs around the world with feeding tubes for gastroparesis. It seems that a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure would have been used instead of feeding tubes if it were a viable option for most of us. Thanks in advance for any information you might have on it.

    • @jaimeknarr1809
      @jaimeknarr1809 6 років тому +2

      AlienMissy 483 I would think that Harlow would pick up on other signs of distress after the scratches (increased heart rate). Regular scratching would not have those.

      Olivia Shultz try going backwards in your training and teach her to sit square, make sure it's not because it hurts her to sit and sitting lazy is easier on her if that makes sense. Good luck 😀
