I bake banana bread once a month and wanted to do something different. I made this recipe today. My husband looked strait at me and said " I want this cake every moth instead "
15 year old here trying to give my mom a good birthday with no job 🤣 In the past months my parents have gone through a pretty bad divorce that I've kinda been expecting for a while. In pondering what the heck to get my mom for her birthday since I had no job and little time, I remembered that my father's mom always made her a humming bid cake for her birthday, after looking through our kitchen I realized I have the ingredients and all I need is a second cake pan. Hopefully this goes well and I don't mess up too bad so I can cook a big dinner too!!
i didn't use this exact recipe, the one I used called for 1 cup of sugar and I only put 1/2 cup and it came out delicious. The perfect amount of sweetness even without any frosting. I made mine as a loaf cake with no frosting, YALL... it was so good.
Yum!! It was served at my parents house along with a variety of cakes and pies after Church every Sunday with coffee and Ice tea. It was away for all our relatives to congratulate.
Ever since I saw this cake on the Oprah Winfrey Show years ago, I have insisted/requested that my mother make it for me every single year for my birthday; it's been my favorite cake/dessert every since then. YUM-MO!!!!
It's delicious. Very, very sweet. There's 4 cups of sugar, total, in it with the icing! Even without icing its still awesome. Trust me, you're gonna need a big cold glass of milk with this one.
I made this last week and my teacher had me remake it for her husband, and I also have someone who wants me to remake it for them as well! this cake was very moist and delicious, thank you!
I've never made a cake from scratch. Every thing was perfect and everyone loved it. The only improvement is when making the birds next just use parchment paper to mold it vs non stick wrap.
* Thank you for the upload. Your presentation is 👍 nice, simple, precise, and well explained just like the original. When I first made it, this recipe was advertised in a little clip to buy the celebrity recipe book 📖, which needless to say, sorry butt didn’t have the ability to do. But anyway, it has been a hit in our family for a very long, long time. However, it’s been such a long time since I’ve made one. Since we’re not into too much sugar, I put 1 & 1/2 cup of sugar in my batter and we just skipped the icing altogether, I know, Icing is the best, but hey, what can I say, having the cake 🍰 was a treat and that’s a blessing! I am grateful! Praise the Almighty Lord! If you don’t mind me asking, do you happen to have a good pancake 🥞 recipe?
Shawana Campbell how funny, I want to make this cake this year for christmas 😁. I'm just a little apprehensive because I have some slightly picky eaters in my family and so the banana and pecans and pineapples are all something that somebody might not like one of, but I love ALL those things hahaha, so I guess I'm really just making it for my own fat desires lol, but I'm still hoping it will be a hit 😄
I make this all the time using Pillsbury sugar free cake mix ,and banana, pineapple,a tad of coconut flakes, I tad of lemon zest, then use sugar free cream cheese frosting. PERFECTION. And way less calorie and fat.
Love your video presence and cake recipe! I would like to know about the cloth wrap you placed on cake pans ! Looks like a great idea so I don't have to slice off the dome ! Thanks !"
Typically, if someone adds salt to a recipe - they won't use salted butter ! I usually just add salted butter and no salt, but if you're making a delicate cake then it may be best to use unsalted butter and a small pinch of salt. : ^)
I checked the ingredient lust three times. There’s not one hummingbird in this cake. Y’all did the sane thing with your Cat Head Biscuit recipe. What gives Southern living? 😉
Katlin Landeros yes, it's a big deal. The nuts help the cake rise, because the don't compress. Is his allergy only to tree nuts? Some people with tree nut allergies can eat peanuts. You might experiment trying dried fruit [raisins or craisins] or maybe coconut. The best thing to do would be to read up in the grest cookbook The joy of Cooking. It tells you the how & the why of cooking. I'd just look it up for you, but my copy is packed & I don't know where! Good luck!

Aww, that's soo sweet. Your mom must be soo proud of you ❤️
My Mother made this back in 78 and on. I remember the page cut out in her cook book. Along with a few dozen others from the same magazine.
My grandma used to make this cake three times a year (Easter, Mother's Day and Christmas). It was the best smelling and tasting cake she ever made!

Thx, that sounds good. I don't like overly sweet desserts.

Very nice.
Question for Southern Living, can I use butter instead of oil? If so, should I use exact same amount as called for with oil?
I would like to know where to get the measuring elements.....omg, they are so cute
+AwTNIASATAF Exactly !!! I was wondering if I was the only one that kept my Vanilla and Baking Soda in their original containers. LOL
yum.
Omg this cake is fire!!!😩😩😩😩
Love this recipe.
Did you use unsalted. Butter? Or which kind Did you use?
Typically, if someone adds salt to a recipe - they won't use salted butter ! I usually just add salted butter and no salt, but if you're making a delicate cake then it may be best to use unsalted butter and a small pinch of salt. : ^)

Can you bake a Pink Champagne Cake 🎂 with Pink Champagne Icing
No Sweet Shredded Coconut?
Do you need to use 2 16 oz bags of confectioner sugar
Does this cake need to be refrigerated?
Is it unsalted butter that you used
shamekia Johnson it usually is for frosting
@@skincareaddicted okay thank you
I'm allergic to pineapples what could I substitute for the pineapple so I could have a similar cake.
I would think Mangos would be a greater replacement or nectarines or peaches!
this looks so delicious but I will have to try this without the pineapples
👍👍👏👏👌👌...!
😮✨🎉💖🍰
Can i use apple instead pf bananas
I checked the ingredient lust three times. There’s not one hummingbird in this cake. Y’all did the sane thing with your Cat Head Biscuit recipe. What gives Southern living? 😉
Can I change to cupcakes?
Can i smash the bannanas? Or do i need to leave them in chunks?
Wow this UA-cam channel is not good at responding to comments, lol. I just blend them up with the eggs and oil. I also add about a cup of coconut.
@@Mytagz thanks!
Is it a big deal if I skip the pecans? I’d like to make it but My brother’s got a pretty serious nut allergy.
Katlin Landeros I'm sure you can replace it with something else😊
