Got my 1st Southern Living Cookbook in 1984. Really pleased to see their recipes on UA-cam, because they are always the best!

In my Southern experience which is my entire life spent in the South, I have never seen an Italian cream cake without coconut!

The recipe and the video are not in sync. The video says this is a white cake. However the cake recipe indicates that coconut is in the cake. The video says coconut is in the frosting but the frosting recipe does not list coconut.

This is a helpful video. The weights of the various ingredients would be really good to have.

In the South, most use coconuts and finely chopped pecans in the cake batter mix. 😳 I've had people who don't like coconut, try this cake, and ask for more. LOL 😂.

      Exactly 💯
Otherwise its a yellow cake with pecan frosting
Italian cream cakes hv coconut and pecans in the batter with rum and amaretto flavor
      It looks delicious though.

While the Italian Cream Cake has its roots in renaissance Italy, the first written record of it is first seen in Canada in 1913. It is not until 1937 that the first recipe of Italian Cream Cake surfaces in the Plano News from Texas.

An Italian baker in Texas came up with the recipe so I think that is why it is called Italian cream cake

I love your batter. Nice presentation
I've nvr seen an Italian cake made this way. I thought pecans and coconut go in the batter. No shade. I'm just curious 🤔

Is there a video for the cream cheese frosting? Thanks.

cream cheese icing is 1 8oz cream cheese, 1 stick of butter, both room temperature, cream together, add 1 lb or more of powdered sugar, add vanilla, or almond extract for the flavoring, the icing tastes better if you toast your pecans and coconut first before adding to the frosting, you can either mix it in with frosting or add after you have frosted the cake

How can you represent Southern Living and say "PEE-cans" like a Northerner? The correct pronouciation is "puh-CAHNS."

    • @flowforever9084
      @flowforever9084 3 роки тому

Actually its pronounced both ways. We looked it up, bc I had the same argument with southerners....lol 😆 🤣 😂
      To our surprise either way

    • @larrymcclain8874

@@flowforever9084 You missed the point. It is NOT the Southern way to pronounce it "pee-can." You can pronounce it any way that you want, but will not be Southern.

It's time you realized, that a young beautiful, classy woman like that is not going to be attracted to an old(ish) man who throws out comments suggesting his sexual interest on a recipe video. It's gross, and embarrasing for the audience. Speaking as a woman, anyway. I imagine there are other men as deluded, who feel it's appropriate, and that they might 'have a shot' too. It isn't, and they don't.
Young women who welcome sexual interest from strange men three age-groups above them, usually have a pecuniary reason and are pretty easy to spot. How you could confuse this person as one of them is a mystery. Or is it a macho thrill to accost the unsuspecting? Ugh & shudder.
