When you’re entire military is less than 60k personnel it’s easier and cheaper to field new equipment. High cut helmets are being issued to Marines around the Corps. 3rd Marine Regiment, a part of 3rd Marine Division, is currently fielding some now to its Marines.
assuming it is still here in 4 years and this latest defeat isn't used as an excuse to restructure the US military. It is very possible the Corps gets disbanded and absorbed into the other branches.

Camp Pendleton? Didn't look like the stumps! Edit (Must be Pendleton, FO using Navy guns). The only thing that moves mountains faster is air support. 3/7 o341 81s FO. Semper fi Earthlings
Marine Recon units are usually Airborne, halo and haho qualified. Marines can get orders to go to airborne school, but it’s not standard. Since Marines are a maritime (water/ocean) force the majority of their insertions are from water craft, not airplanes. If they do air insertion it’s usually an air assault from helicopters or Ospreys, so it’s more fast roping or just jumping off a helo or running out the back ramp of an Osprey. There isn’t a lot a need for an airborne unit in the Marine Corps for this reason. The expeditionary units in a Marine Air Ground Task Force will go to Amphibious Assault and Air Assault schools if it pertains to their MOS. But usually Airborne school is saved as a meritorious reward for Marines that do outstanding work and for Marine special mission units like Force Recon and Marsoc Raiders. A lot of Recon and Raiders do a lot of jumping. I know a retired Marine who was Recon and went on to MARSOC and he has had something like 9 surgeries on his back because the beating his back took from the hundreds and hundreds of jumps he has done (all in training, he said he never once did an airborne insertion in Iraq or Afghanistan). Airborne really beats on your body and has the potential for HUGE injuries. That is why it has been so infrequently used throughout the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s usually helicopter or vehicle insertion.
