  • In this video we look at the assembly sequence, decide it's not the best way to build the kit, and make a start on the assembly.. This is a tutorial on why I look for different ways to build a kit and my reasoning behind it.. then you can watch me put it into practice.
I have ordered the Eduard exterior set for it so I can dress up the wheel bays before putting them in the booms.

I like how you make everything so much harder; not so its difficult but rather for accuracy. Its a very Japanese approach to accuracy and should be celebrated.

    Nige
Excellent start on the Bronco and no question, you found the right way to build the kit, eliminating all the wing/boom/fuselage roadblocks.
    Well done my friend

I ordered this kit with aftermarket products after your review. This would be a build along!

what do Frank Sinatra, Sid Vicious and Nigel have in common?..... they all did it My Way :)

I ordered this kit and the after market bits also after watching your review. Looking forward to a build along on this one. Thanks again Nigel, always appreciate your honest reviews. If it turns out to be a dog, I mean challenge it will be great to follow along and see how you go about solving whatever issues arise.

Thanks for another great video Nigel. I get so much from just about every video even if it's not a subject I'm interested in. You teach how to solve problems that we see in many kits.

I truly, truly wish I had seen your vids before all the cursing and swearing I did with this kit. As a side note I did use very fine guage telephone wire for the cockpit cabling if that helps anyone. Again highest kudos for thinking this one through brother!

Beats hell out of the instructions as far as common sense goes . I think that k.h have really got the message when it comes to the engineering side and ease of assembly in the latest kits but I think the instructions are always gonna hurt , like dragons armour kits . the more I see this kit , the more it edge's out the 1/32 tempest v as my probable , one and only 1/32 center piece in amongst the 1/48 aircraft I do . hmmm
Thanks for the vids and the thought behind the fix . I think it will build great with the wing strong and straight .

Fantastic. I never finished mine. I screwed up my wing. Your covering great stuff. I wish you good finish but I understand the three other kits.

Really enjoyed the video Nigel , I like many were looking forward to this kit and after seeing negative reviews decided not to bother, I will certainly continue to watch your progress in the hope that you change my mind. I also enjoyed the engineering thought process and after having the a similar background to you "30 years at Vickers which turned into Rolls Royce" i to be honest kept both parts of my brain separate which was strange,. Never got my head round Metric though still converted mm to imperial as my file and scrapers were tuned to taking off parts of a thou lol, Keep up the good work. Lovely channel.

Stan C thanks. I would recommend it to anyone. The fit of parts seems very good so far so I can only assume it’s the build sequence that is messing people up?

Looks like ICM are doing a couple of Bronco’s in 48 in 2021

You can only watch so many spitfires, mustangs and F18. A lot of us like the more odd or lesser known planes.

Love this airframe and model build. Went out the back end of more than a few of these back during my military career. Personally, I thought the Bronco was a fantastic special operations platform, and tough as hell out in the field. My guys also thought that, too. It was a shame to see it leave U.S. military service back in '95 (though it hasn't really left... wink, wink) Keep up the great build on this one and you've now made me go out and order one of my own to assemble. :-)

Oh, for sure. Thanks for the insight and the out-of-the-box thinking on this assembly. I've sure learned a lot watching a real engineer undertake this build.

I worked on Rolls Royce aero engine derived power generation units ,based on the RB 211 up here in Aberdeen,my job as a mechanical design engineer was designing the optimum guide vane and blade profiles for the units which were destined for service in the North Sea and gulf of Mexico. It was interesting to hear of your experience with Rolls Royce gas turbines as I would have loved to have worked in the Derby facility,I assume that's where you were based?.Anyway, back on topic!,I have just bought the 1/32 OV-10D kit and as you say,it really does cry out for the eduard cockpit set which I bought along with resin seats and wheels and a white metal undercarriage leg set, looking forward to building it immensely!.

this is my second kitty hawk build my first was the cougar was not impressed with the way the fuselage was built, my second was this 0V10 wished I had seen this build before I built mine what I ended up doing was after putting the center section together and mounting like the directions I found that no matter how I glued the wing outer sections they just wouldn't stay straight what I finally did was to make a spar to go through the center and gluing the outer panels in place, actualy 2 spars one just aft of the leading edge and the other forward of trailing edge worked great. but I said I would not buy another kitty hawk kit.

Wish i'd seen this before i built my \48 fw189,very similar layout. But a lot of visible interior thats a perect for some 'ornamentation'.Have to see the PE upgrade to calculate how much interference i can squeeze in.Cheers.

building this model is a challenge. the first time is a learning run. I was following the instructions, bad idea! Do not glue on that little pointy thing on the nose or the guns, landing gear, seats, engines, and small parts until you have the air frame together and filled in all the gaps and you are done sanding. my wings sag. The gun boxes are a complete mess. I want to build the D model. 2nd time is a charm.

For a 1/32 kit she's not very big.
