I heard Bret was unwilling to explain it to them in front of cameras because they still had to protect the business and also to prevent untrained idiots who thought they could be wrestlers from scratch from bothering WWF, but after the show he met them in person and gave them better advice.
We all start out as untrained idiots no matter what we do in life, this is why we go into training. Even Brett Hart and Ric Flair and Lou Thez and Kurt Angel were untrained idiots at one point.
Funny, because I flat-out forgot this was still the kayfabe era, so yeah, Bret handled this well, still protecting the business. I'd like to know if he had words with them after the show, wouldn't surprise me if they did, considering where Edge ended up at least.
@@Albert-lj5jb The other guy (Joe Legend) ended up in the WWE for a bit too, signing with the company for about a year in 2000/2001, and also had a tag title win in TNA in 2004, and worked a handful of tours in NOAH and ZERO1 in Japan, as well as being fairly well travelled in the North American and European indy scene. So definitely not as established as Edge was, but he managed to work out a pretty good career for himself.

It´s interesting you mention those Skid Row songs. In the t-shirt edge was wearing there is a part that says ´´Siki and Ron´´ and I thought at the beginning the t-shirt said Skid Row.
Edge had the best entrance theme ever in the late 90s, when he used to appear randomly from within the crowd and the cameras searched for him under the spotlight...
Hard to comprehend the continuity. It's that old story of wrestler meets guys, guy talks to wrestler, guy becomes wrestler but wrestler goes to WCW before returning as wrestler meets wrestler in the business years later
That’s cool seeing a young wrestler before they were famous. I remember seeing and meeting a young wrestler who called himself the lighting kid back in Minneapolis at the Indian center where they held a wrestling match in there gym. A short time later I saw him debut in the WWF as the 1-2-3 kid, kamikaze kid and then later as X-PAC. He was a very nice person meeting him in real life.

This guy is a class act. Honest and family man. They don't make them like this dude anymore. Now it is all about glitz and glamour but no substances and definitely no Hart!
Bret said an important truth about wrestling "You need experience and nowdays is very hard". We are talking about 30 years ago and that still works. Nowdays most wrestler get experience in Indies but if you a real fan and watched a lot of match from 80s and early 90s you can see how experience in territories of NWA and Japan at the time was very different. Most wrestler where very complete, technical, very safe and with a complete moveset and good experience about brawling and math wrestling. Nowdays most wrestler are experienced about fast and Athletic manover but have some lacks about Building a carhacter and pure wrestling skills. I really admire Gunther and Cody cause they're following that line. They are true wrestler. I don't see a wrestler like Gunther from like more than 15 years.
He straight up said he got in WWF because of his father and that he was brought up in the territory days so he already had years of TV experience long before he wrestled for a WWF crowd. After the taping he later talked to them and told them to keep wrestling and gave them info on local promoters to work with. This type of talk is not something you talk on live tv back then.
That's kinda cool. A wrestling legend meets a future wrestling legend. Regarding what Bret says. It's not that different today. You go to a wrestlig school and you hope that a big promoion takes notice of you and invites you for a try out. The only difference is that with social media you can promote yourself. Doing videos and stuff. But still. Someone has to watch it who can bring you to the big companies. And even the smaller ones would be a good start, because as Bret says, you get experience. And mabye there someone from NJPW, AEW or WWE watches you and makes you an offer. Wrestling isn't just as any other job where you go to a school and then write your application to a company. Even compared to other pro sports it's different how to make a career out of it.
