  • My all-time favourite introduction of Steve Jobs as a character in the docu-series Triumph of the Nerds (1995). He is introduced as "the most dangerous man in Silicon Valley". This was shot one year before his return to Apple and his "second coming" there.
The video starts with a teaser by the documentary maker Bob Cringeley, followed by quotes by Larry Tesler (from Xerox PARC and Apple), Bob Metcalfe (of Ethernet and 3COM fame), finally closed by a quote from Steve Jobs himself.

Great introduction and a great documentary. I also got the whole interview with Steve that was being filmed for this and it's quite insightful. One of the best he gave (which were recorded).

Good video series, but he's often way over the top and conterfactual too.
Steve Jobs was more a style guru for the Apple II case, power supply and not much else. Good on him for making forward-looking choices. But also we should not forget that his next slew of computers were total failures: the Apple ///, the Lisa, and (debatably) the first few Macintoshes, the Apple TV, the clamshell Macintosh, the portable Mac, then oops, also the next few NeXT computers. Several billion dollars down the drain on misfires. Yes, he struck gold with the iMacs, the iPhone, and the iPad, all huge successes. But all those happened after TOTN

The Macintosh was a great success: maybe not commercially in the very beginning, but most definitely as the computer that defined what personal computers work like until today. I think nobody involved with the project would consider it a failure.

Don't really understand the words The most dangerous man in Silicon Valley.
What is so dangerous about his presence as a computertechnologist cq engineer.
Kind regards, Saskia van Houtert engineer/officemanager
