I just ordered the 201 mostly because of Rick Sheils video. I thought it was very informative and well done. I got on the website looked at the irons and what handicap they were made for and based my decision off of that. I am a 3.3 handicap index and I am 58 years old so I got the 201 for the added forgiveness just in case things go south. Golf was a hell of a lot easier when I was 30
I’m 72 and have had to move toward graphite shafts to minimize the impact on my hands and wrists and was a little disappointed that you only offer stiff steel. I’ve still ordered the clubs but I’m probably going to have to make some changes. No graphite at all?
@@roymedina638I believe they have graphite shafts options if you choose to customize them. I believe the button is somewhere near the add to cart button on the irons you're looking for (I was looking into graphites for someone else not too long ago)
I have had the 201s for 2 years, really love the irons. Many times when I play a round with someone newer to me they ask what irons am I using they compliment on how good the ball sounds off the face. My only gripe with them are the distance dispersion I get at times when I make pure contact. I normally hit my 7 iron 175 but sometimes when hit pure in normal conditions it will fly 180-185. With that, I will be ordering the 301CBs because as of now I do not need the extra forgiveness. If anyone is considering any of the Takomo products do not hesitate you will not regret it. This coming from a former Mizuno user.
Seems to be a heck of a lot of golfers on UA-cam who claim to hit a 7iron 175yds carry. I’m a 4.1 index based in U.K. and can’t get near that figure, then again I do hit 152/155yds very very consistently.
I love the comment and I was wondering how the 201s held up after 2 years being played? Ik they are a softer steel than like the 101s because they are forged and just wondering if they will last
I’ve been playing my 201’s since March 2023. I absolutely love them, and have been complemented multiple times with them. They feel amazing, and they have really helped my game.
Super cool that you did this. Clearly UA-cam Golf is a priority for Takomo, and simply filling in the gaps here was great. High five to your content team. The 201's have my attention.
I tend to score consistently in the low 90s. On a great day I can break 90 and I swing the 201s. I solely attribute my improvement in my game to these irons when I got them about a year and a half ago. So underrated.
My two cents: if takomo could find a way to ship single demo irons, with a pay back on the final purchase, they’d sell much more. I’m intrigued by their irons, but i’d definitely like to test them before buying, even with a reasonable up charge for the demo shipment.
Agreed. Pack of opportunities to test is the main reason I wont purchase. Everything I’ve heard and seen as been convincing but I still wouldn’t ever consider purchasing a full set I didn’t test out first
For what it’s worth, I hit the 301 MB with a KBS shaft and they are very solid irons. I play the Ping blueprint irons and the Takomo 301 MB’s are every bit as solid if an iron as my pings and WAY cheaper on the sticker price! lol!! Very impressed with the Takomo.
I just recently received my 201's and so far they are amazing. They are definitely smaller heads then my previous irons but the forgiveness is still there. The feeling is like cutting butter as they say.... I only have one regret and that is not buying these sooner. I Highly recommend these clubs!! Great job Takomo!!
I bought a Sky Forger wedge just to try out the brand. It didn't take me long to jump online and order a combo set of irons. I've been playing them for a few months now. Simply fantastic and a very classic view. My old irons, Ping G710s, are going to be in the bag for people who come visit. Well done Takomo.
Perfect timing on this video for me. I am looking to retire my old 2013 Ping Anser Forged Iron. I'm all about that forged feel and naturally Mizuno comes first to mind. Mizuno had a fitting event local to me and we found the MP 243 in DG 120 S300 shafts were the best fit for me. However, before pulling the trigger I wanted to find see if there were other options. These appear to hit a lot of the boxes for me, 1pc forged, cavity back, lofts that aren't super jacked up, and very reasonably priced. Being DTC it makes it hard for me to see them first hand and to try them out so I have to rely on reviews. Hopefully there are more reviews on the 201's because they are really compelling. Thank you!
James Robinson did some back in the days (a... couple of years ago?) when these (201) first came out. And some other UA-camrs too. 301s have a ton of YT reviews, Takomo really started to gain traction when those came out (or even before that, but I'd say that line really showed that they're not just some short lived one off).
I’ve seen nothing but good things about the 201s. The only reason I’m not buying them is simply down to being unable to get fit for them. People have said about getting fit for a similar set and use those specs to order these, but that’s not guaranteed to work. For example, an s300 in one iron head that works great, could be a terrible fit in another head.
@@adamprice9231 You could buy just the heads and get shafts fitted (and lofts and lie angles) with your local fitter. Of course the price will be higher than just getting a set that way.
@@adamprice9231 I completely agree! I wish there would be a way to readily hit them prior to purchase. Maybe a program with local shops or fitters to have sets of fitting heads and then be able to order the specs with the shop or fitter to drop ship or through Takomo directly. But something like that would likely increase the operating cost and therefore increase the price of the clubs.
For what it’s worth, I love my 201’s (been playing them almost 2 years, 8.1 index for reference). TXG (now club champion) did a review on them back in the day as well, very informative and influenced my decision at the time.
When i wear out the grooves on my 2021 Titleist T100S irons these 201's will def. be an option. Smart tech, forged head with forgiveness and they look great
After I got fitted earlier this year, I went straight to purchasing the 201's. You could easily say for my 2nd year of golf I should have gone with the 101's. HOWEVER, I have been getting lessons, practicing at home, playing 3-4 rounds a week, and I must say these 201's still offer forgiveness and great sound when hitting the sweet spot. I am very pleased with my 201's and will continue to use them until I am ready to move up to the 301, but that'll happen in time... Thank you, Takomo!
@@VonHanzee I attend to continue to get lessons and practice. I am highlighting that the 201's are forgiving and great irons. I don't attend to get rid of them anytime soon or many more seasons.
I just played a round to day with my 101s They are Money straight off all lies and high flight all day! My buddy ordered the 201s which he can't wait to get in his hands. We were pair with a player of 301s he was a laser with them all day! Thanks Takomo! How can I get a hat? I only bought heads so you only gave me a towel!
When is Takomo coming out with hybrids? You're missing a huge part of market because of the number of golfer who are now playing hybrids over long irons! I would seriously consider Takomo if hybrids were added to the lineup!
I bought a set of the 201 heads only and build with steel fiber shaft. Honestly, it feels close to my gamer (Miura 301 cb). Was questionable when the heads came and it said made in China, but was surprisingly good. Just wish the top line was rounded over a bit to make it look a little thinner.
Have the 301cbs and the 201s. Hands down the 201s are the better clubs for me. Love the 301s but just can't seem to keep the ball in the middle with them, the 201s just feel like a cheat code. My dispersion, distance and overall accuracy is just so much better. 201s are probably the most slept on imo because everyone is looking at the 101s and 301s, but give the 201s a shot and you just might be surprised at the results.
thx a lot for this post, that's helping me a lot! Coming from Mizuno Mp33s I'm looking for something new and first thought about the 301cbs, but I need a bit more forgiveness now.
Would have bought them forever ago if I could test them. A demo feature would make so so so many more people consider. But it’s hard to blindly spend $500+ on clubs in the hopes I’m going to like them. No matter who or how many people say they’re amazing. There needs to be a demo option.
I'd love to see a "Demo" option on these. The tennis world has done this forever. It's a great way to get exposure and get your clubs in peoples hands. I'm leaning toward the 101, maybe 201. Have had the same irons for 15 years, time to upgrade. Do a program where you have a 7iron or 8 iron demo... or a combo of 4 iron, with a 7 or 8. That would be fantastic to try for a hitting session.
I’m fully convinced I’m buying Takomo! I just desperately wish I could try them or be fitted. While the price is incredible, it’s still a lot of money for me and I don’t want to mess it up!
I too am looking at the 301s verses the 201s. I have not be playing for a couple years, but was a 7 handicap, even though I'm in my 60s. My current irons are 20 year old 845s, but I'm not a long iron hitter while hitting my driver near 275-290 yds. I am thinking about the mixed band of 301s CB/MBs. What would switching to the 201 do to/for me?
I'm 77 years old. I know I can't expect much from golf much longer. However, I bought the 101s with the KBS tour light shafts. I got them 1/2 longer, and 1 degree flat. For whatever reason, I cannot hit those damn things!! They just feel so heavy! I should have gotten graphite shafts?
Why don’t you offer split sets for example I would use 7-pw as I don’t get on with long irons like a lot high handicap and med handicap golfers but you don’t offer this make up but I can get this with all other brands vice included as there direct to customer offer split sets a lot of golf’s could go 101 and 101t in lower irons or 101t and 201 etc
I think they don't offer those because they're a small company and that's expensive. They would likely need to increase prices to allow for such things, but definitely could see why a simple upcharge for combo sets could be viable.
@ I understand your point but when it will need to cater to all golfers for it to grow and compete with the larger company’s or it will get left behind
I might invest in a set of these when i start playing again. My pings are about 7 years old, maybe older. I was diagnosed with cancer about 5 months ago which completely shut my life down. I can't swing a club because of lack of energy and some dizziness. I received some decent test results today where the liver lesions have dropped tremendously. Now I have a mass by my pancreas which hopefully will be started on with laser therapy directly into the mass. Hopefully if that works as well as chemo and immunotherapy I'll be back on the course. I love the Bryan Bros and I love the look of the irons. I'll research which ones before I buy but I can wait. Keep the videos coming they get me through alot of days.
I think most buyers issue is how similar the 201 and the 101Ts are. That's where people get caught up. I think if Takomo made the 101T 7iron 31 or 31.5 degrees of loft, and the 201 to have 32.5 or 33 degrees of loft, the entire lineup would make a lot more sense. Only reason I haven't purchased a set yet is because I literally can't make a decision between the 101Ts and the 201s.
@@takomogolfcompany I've watched this thank you. Just my personal thoughts that there needs to be more to differentiate the 2 clubs. From some other videos that I've seen from you, the trackman numbers are basically identical as well. Would be nice to have an option to bend the lofts like the lie angles on a custom order to stretch the lineup a little bit. Make the 101Ts closer to the 101s and the 201s slightly closer to the 301s and now everything is different. Just my 2 cents as someone who want's to purchase but is struggling to make a decision here as I can't go and hit these 2 clubs before I buy.
I'm an 11 handicap and very interested in upgrading my Taylormade M6 irons to a Takomo set. Looking to add distance, maintain a bit of forgiveness and just improve my game overall. Would the 101T's or 201's be best for my game?
Going less game improvement usually means less distance so do yourself a favor and get fitted. Asking opinions of randoms who likely know as little or less than you is wild to me 😂. Anyone who knows their stuff knows you’ll need a fitting.
@stevenjames1985 Hey, that's a great point! I'd never thought of getting fitted before. Say, do you know where I can get fitted for a set of Takomo Irons? You know, since they don't have a storefront, aren't in any major retailer and only sold direct to consumer? OR...maybe I could ask the Takomo rep making the videos about the product directly on the video they posted about this exact question...
Tim, you only got 95-96 mph clubhead speed with the 7i. At least get it too 100 to make it relatable for us weekend golfers haha :p Kidding aside, great video as always :D
I'm looking at purchasing an iron set, but I'm unsure on which ones to get. I currently have the Mizuno MP-62. I was looking at the 301 combo set but have glanced at the 201s. Any suggestions?
While interesting to see how these clubs perform in obviously very capable golfers' hands, it would be interesting to see how they perform in the hands of an average golfer. If you need an average golfer to do this, I know a guy who might be able to help you out...
I've always been a vokey wedges guy, but I've been on the fence about ordinary a set of takomo wedges. The thing that is holding me back is it seems like people that are sponsored by takomo are using their wedges( bryon bro) it says alot to me that wesley bryon has a nick name wedgely bryon but does use the takomos. Also, george is using callaway wedges, not the takomos. I'd like to know why.
Hi Question for you i am looking for a more forgiving club that my stealth irons i hit them good but is am slowing down in swing speed will be 60 next March so i wanna get some irons that will age with me I have narrowed it down to 2 sets Takomo 101's and Eleven's hybrid irons i know its apples to oranges but which did you find easier to hit and more forgiving ? 3-pw in the Eleven's is 1225 ( Canadian ) 4-pw in the Takomo's 101 are 850 ( Canadian ) i got my handicap down to 7 but i wanna make golf as easy as possible what are your thoughts ? both are straight to consumer so i can not try them thx i look forward to your thoughts cheers from Canada
Would really like to hit the 201s .....they look so much like my favorite ping irons ( possibly favorite of all time ) the s55 which I played most of this last season with even though I have a set of new i230s ....and the fact my s55 scoring irons are slap wore slick ....hard play if it's least bit wet out .....the 201 looks almost identical to a ping s55 .....want try them so bad ....
Tried to order a set but no luck, they have the choices for military overseas shipping FPO but after input it says ...not available to ship .. why have it offered in the shipping if you do not ship?big let down not being able to sever the military overseas in which USPS does ship to. Any help on ordering or anybody that has ordered from overseas military address?
Hi there! That is correct: we are currently unavailable to ship to military addresses. I'm so sorry for that 😞 I'll ask our web developers wtf is going on if we really offer such option! Thanks for pointing that out!
High handicapper getting back into golf and my scores are slowly improving since I’m able to play and practice more. Is it better to get the 101 or 101T? I feel like I could grow into the 101Ts and would quickly outgrow the 101s. Thanks.
I brought the 301 cb iron on the back of Ricks review. 2 clubs 9 iron and pitching wedge took damage in the first 2 rounds i played i can honestly say im not impressed
I simply wouldn't buy clubs that I couldn't test first. It's a shame as there have been good reviews but I need to see if they work for me. I'll be buying a complete new set next year and alas Takomo won't be among the options.
Hey great video I am a 68 year old disabled veteran who does not have a lot of money I have a 10 handicap been researching your clubs for a while. I hit the ball in the middle of the face lost a little swing speed what do you think is the best club for me?
💯!! 201 heads are same size as my Taylormade TP blades made in 1989. Very small for today’s standards. A solid few mm smaller club for club than mizuno jpx 919 tour.

Can you guys help? If not, the memories playing with him will last a lifetime but it'd be nice to try to beat him lol. Thanks.
Slow it down man.
Mate it’s £500 for a full set .
Just buy them then sell the 4/5/6/ at £40 a club .
Life’s not hard mate .
The p790s are £189 a club to £79
@@kelvinfannon8416 Hey genius because the lofts are different 😊
I think they don't offer those because they're a small company and that's expensive. They would likely need to increase prices to allow for such things, but definitely could see why a simple upcharge for combo sets could be viable.
@ I understand your point but when it will need to cater to all golfers for it to grow and compete with the larger company’s or it will get left behind
I feel like the customer base these Takomos are intended for... would not ask much for split sets I think...
what we need is a combo set.... 4-6 iron 101T, and 7-PW iron 201.
I love my 101s that I recently recieved. Feel like its going to be a long ling time before they come out the bad.
All the best to you, Devon! Get better and keep swinging!
Hey! We have a video about it! Check the comparison video here: ua-cam.com/video/NLccjaj5S2g/v-deo.html
Just my 2 cents as someone who want's to purchase but is struggling to make a decision here as I can't go and hit these 2 clubs before I buy.
been using 201 for the last yr , I only hit a 7 iron at 155 , but the action and ball flight are perfect , feel so soft, thanks
I mean bruv. 7 iron at 155 should tell you something, no?
@BRDavie Bra , I don't need more , I hit my drive 300 avg , your's ?
@@jakecvma8571 that’s freakin my point guy. 300 yd. drive you should be hitting 7i 185. Get yo-self a real set of irons 😂😂😂
For someone like swings a 7 iron around the low to mid 90’s, what flex shaft would you suggest. I think I’m on the edge of stuff and x-stiff
Man I wish!! Such a huge fan of Tokomo, and Rick! I plan on buying a set some day, the baby and wife come before my golf career 😂
201s are the most underrated club possibly ever.. it’s like my hidden gem no one knows about
Can you customise at all? Being 6’3 I need plus 1/2 inch. Don’t remember seeing that as an option on website.
Clubs, swing and hair looking good 👏
Absolutely 😅
Also solid swing. Super smooth.
Good info, thx. Today I received my new Takomo 56 degree wedge, I’ll be taking her out for a test drive tomorrow 😎
Hair trim look clean brother.
the guy doesn't have to fit your beauty standards
@@darthbog2125 Lmao, I was complimenting him. Koozfrahbah
When are we getting a review of the Takomo Obsidian shafts?
It’s tuff buying an iron set you can’t test first. Lil risky….
I went with Ben Hogan. I wanted to support american workers!
The guys a robot. The dispersion and ball flight on all his swings was miniscule. Very impressive
Happy you responded. Top tier engagement overview of the product.
Where in new Zealand can buy these from?
I'm an 11 handicap and very interested in upgrading my Taylormade M6 irons to a Takomo set. Looking to add distance, maintain a bit of forgiveness and just improve my game overall. Would the 101T's or 201's be best for my game?
201’s are not going to give you more distance than m6’s almost no club is those clubs are game improvement and already very long
Going less game improvement usually means less distance so do yourself a favor and get fitted.
I am looking to replace Sim2Max irons because when I flush them they launch 30 yards farther. Are the 201’s more likely to do that than the 101t’s?
No the 201s are a forged one piece construction and are very consistent with distance control.
Tim, you only got 95-96 mph clubhead speed with the 7i. At least get it too 100 to make it relatable for us weekend golfers haha :p
Kidding aside, great video as always :D
We not gonna talk about that beautiful swing 😍
I mean we can 🤷🏼♂️😏😂
201’s are amazing clubs! Great sound and feel! Love mine!
My 201's are showing up tomorrow! Cant wait! Just sold my 101's a week ago!
Thanks for this video…
Any updates coming to the line for 2025..?
Cheers..!
I'm looking at purchasing an iron set, but I'm unsure on which ones to get. I currently have the Mizuno MP-62. I was looking at the 301 combo set but have glanced at the 201s. Any suggestions?
Do you do senior flex in the shafts?
While interesting to see how these clubs perform in obviously very capable golfers' hands, it would be interesting to see how they perform in the hands of an average golfer. If you need an average golfer to do this, I know a guy who might be able to help you out...
I cannot be the only person thinking that swing is sweeter than the irons being reviewed.
Will takomo ever offer combo sets I want something like the 201s for pw to 7 and 101t or 101 for longer irons for the forgivness!
does anyone know what shipping and duties/taxes one pays on a set of the irons if you live in Canada?
Dude, I really couldn't see anything what you were talking about in that table, you should highlight it, or point to it with your cursor.
I wish I would have gotten some 101T's instead of the Rogue ST Max earlier this year,
love my 201s
I watched Rick's video yesterday --and now I've just seen it again.
If I was going to do a Taylormade P770 Takomo blended set... Which set should I use? :p
201
Following in Micah’s footsteps and cut your hair!
How come the 301s are the same price in USD and GBP
What does the MB stand for?

So where is the response?
Tried to order a set but no luck, they have the choices for military overseas shipping FPO but after input it says ...not available to ship .. why have it offered in the shipping if you do not ship?big let down not being able to sever the military overseas in which USPS does ship to. Any help on ordering or anybody that has ordered from overseas military address?
Hi there! That is correct: we are currently unavailable to ship to military addresses. I'm so sorry for that 😞 I'll ask our web developers wtf is going on if we really offer such option! Thanks for pointing that out!
Mr. Shiels out with another review today! Man it has to feel good having the legend further validate the 301's! proofs in the pudding baby.
Absolutely! Great to see Rick giving the clubs and honest look!
High handicapper getting back into golf and my scores are slowly improving since I’m able to play and practice more. Is it better to get the 101 or 101T? I feel like I could grow into the 101Ts and would quickly outgrow the 101s. Thanks.
If you’re working on your game and wanting a set that will help now and still be great as your handicap drops the 101Ts are a great option!
I brought the 301 cb iron on the back of Ricks review. 2 clubs 9 iron and pitching wedge took damage in the first 2 rounds i played i can honestly say im not impressed
What is durability of Takomo?
Make one length irons.
Im from asheville NC. Had to sell my clubs for money because of the hurricane but once i get my money up imma get a set of the 101ts! Clean clubs.
I'd get the 201s if I'd be in the market for new _takomo_ irons.
Great video. I hope Takomo and Rick have a great relationship for years to come.
Do the 101’s or 201’s have foam inside like the P790’s? Thanks
Not the 201
Can't you make a video were you compare the headsize between the different irons. Specially at address
💯!! 201 heads are same size as my Taylormade TP blades made in 1989. Very small for today’s standards. A solid few mm smaller club for club than mizuno jpx 919 tour.
YOU GUYS NEED TO MAKE PUTTERS! I’m wildly offended that you don’t.
Hey Takomo, i need a set of 101s! Im a in between scratch and bogey golf player. I try to challenge my papaw weekly and he is 82. I play whites and he plays gold. He still beats me. Can you guys help? If not, the memories playing with him will last a lifetime but it'd be nice to try to beat him lol. Thanks.
He said the 201 had a stronger loft than the 301 but weaker loft than the 101 ...and then said the 101 and 201 had the same lofts ????
Sorry that was a miss speak. I meant to say 101T there. The 101s are about 2° of lift stronger on all clubs than the 101Ts and 201s.
Slow it down man. You Rushed the review way too much. show the numbers one at a time for each iron then at the end, compare the wedges to the wedges the seven iron to the seven iron and the 4 iron to 4 iron with just those numbers on the screen one at a time. The numbers are so small you can’t even see them
Idk. I liked how quick it was. I didn't find myself clicking through like usual because he got to the numbers quick which is what 80 percent of ppl go to. And it was absolutely thorough and on point.
Where are the hybrids?
Bought the 101s hate them. Heavy no feel!!
