I became friends with Joe Zorn in the late 80s. He bought a Twin Piper aircraft which I replaced all of the Avionics on it for him. I had the privilege of doing a lot of flying with him. Joe was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I lost touch when I moved to CT but made it a point to come in and say hello when I was back in town. I miss our conversations and miss him as a friend

I remember Zorn’s well. My stepfather used to bring their chicken, ribs, cole slaw, and potato salad home for many a dinner while I was a kid in the 1980s. Delicious food!

My experiences with Zorn’s began some time in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s when I was a kid. Dad took my brother, sister and me to Zorn’s but I remember little of it except for the great taste of turkey pot pies and fried chicken. In the 1974- 1979 period I was married and my wife and I took our young boys there in Bethpage. I remember a set of cages or something in back of the building holding livestock which the boys loved to visit. Since then, I am a widower and still stop by for fried chicken and chicken pot pies and I love it. The new store building is nice but I miss the older one.

Fell so much in love with the variety of live poultry and critters at Zorn's moved to the west to have my own!!! Still dream of the stuffing and gravy, ribs, chicken....

One thumbs down? I didn't know turkeys had thumbs. I woke to the sounds of turkeys and chickens from 1952 on growing up on Cedar Drive, what is now first street east of the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway----pre-1964 the Bethpage drive in movie theater sat across from Zorn's (and Nicholson's) poultry farms.

I grew up in Bethpage during the 60s (great time - Wetsons, Smileys etc) I remember going to Zorns every Sunday my mom would go inside to order and me and my sisters would go to the east side of building to see the small zoo. There were peacocks and all sort of animals!
I live in a New England state, but visit LI often. I ALWAYS stop at Zorns and spend a lot of money there. I cant get enough! Their apple pies are the BEST I ever had. WAY better then Briermere farms! (I tried them once) they couldn't hold a candle to ZORNS!!
I ALWAYS pick up 6-10 bottles of chicken spices (wish they shipped out of state) for when I make rotisserie chicken, OMG simply the best! I was saddened to see the old place not there anymore as they outgrew the old place and moved next door, still on thier own property. When I lived in Nassau county i would always frequent the Bellmore store too. (Sad to see the east meadow store close)
Please! NEVER go out of business!!! Zorms is a LONG ISLAND icon!!

Zorn's had a little zoo that included a monkey that we used to feed Bachman's pretzel sticks.

Growing up on Long Island was great partly to those Zorn buckets and everything else on the the menu. A Long Island treasure. When Long Island is brought up, Zorns (and the Calderone) come up first in mind. Miss it. The only thing now that could bring back that good ol’ Long Island ‘back to roots’ feeling at 2000 miles away is if they delivered to Colorado. One can wish. Right..

I’m very impressed. Great respect for you and your family. However, your excellent food results in my expanding girth. Be well.

Very rare for a family owned business. Usually by the 3rd or 4th generation the children are too spoiled to continue running a business and either sell or run the business down until it is nothing and become landlords

Fell in love with the opportunities in America. Wow. Who would have thought that at one time people saw America as a land to pursue your dreams.

Zorn's keeps getting smaller and smaller. Half of their remaining property was sold to a Honda dealership.
