Loading hopper would be better. Keeps the bulk loading below the choke point fo the machine. Wouldn't take up as much space either. Fill up the box, push a button, and the box tips in to the shredder.
Yeah a thick wire could easily loop around a hand. And to the person saying you wouldn’t be able to reach the blades. Something has got to give. Either the wire snaps, the motor stalls, the hand is ripped off or the guy is pulled in.
I'm with everyone else; that feeding mechanism is *INSANELY* dangerous and anyone would have to be a fool to use it. All it would take is a single loop of wire to be on the wrong side of the guy's arm when the wire gets yanked into the blades and *BAM!!!* His arm may not be sucked all of the way into the blades, but a serious injury is absolutely guaranteed.
Needs a short feed conveyor. Not an engineer, but I can forsee fingers being lost if wrapped in a wad of wire and the jaw grabs ahold of it while putting wire in the bin. Pretty dangerous.
The hand feeding of that granulator is a HIGE safety risk. Even a small #10 gauge wire will be enough to snatch a person into it. There's a better, safer way to feed those in a controlled manner. Surprised we aren't seeing video of a law suit.
Massive potential for an accident there , get it chucked in and don't touch it again. You'll be pulled in as fast as you you could scream. I work with granulators 10x this size, all just as lethal but a wire loop is something else.
pretty sure it's gravity based. Just chop it up into tiny pieces, vibrate the whole thing and the copper falls to the bottom with plastic on top. The finer plastic granules may have some copper left in them so it's recommended to recycle them through the machine.
You see how "sharply" that wire gets pulled into the hopper? This thing will strip flesh off your bones like a cheese cutter and/or pull you in or rip you into pieces
Well it depends where it is... It looks like where he's feeding stuff in is actually a chute where the copper slides down into the blades. Not where the blades are sitting right in front of his hands.

@@EPICRANDOMGUY02 This is the sort of comment that makes people hate Occupational health and safety. Yes, microfine dust *may* be present but its not toxic. There would be more (and worse) dust coming off a concrete floor.
Purchase price per pound today 11/24/21 for romex wire is $1.25/lb. Romex is 60% copper by weight. The end product of #1 copper dust is being purchased at $3.25/lb today. Take 100lbs of purchased wire @ $1.25/lb = $125 purchase price. After granulation/recovery 60% copper = 60/lbs @ $3.25/lb = $195 Thats a $70 profit per 100 lbs (or $0.70 cents per pound profit) This particular unit comes in at $36,000 USD That would be 51,428 lbs for this to pay for itself, or 25 US tons.
A machine like that is good for a metal recycling yard since they buy the wires for about 5 cents a pound but not so much for the guy who sells the wires to them . How much is a machine like this worth ? 30,000 maybe ? the guy would need his lifetime to pay it off

Lmao this is dangerous as fuck. First thing came to mind when he was throwing that shit in was what stops it from wrapping around his wrist? Back to the drawing board
I think the idea is that u could use this to make pure clean copper. Its much easier to melt when it is granulated. You can put the powder into a mold and melt it directly inside the mold. Another thing this might be good for, is to take wire which has insulation on it still, granulate it, then a magnet used to separate it. All that said, the machine is probably really really expensive and it doesn't look useful to a scrapper. It's more useful to someone who is into taking it a step further and recycling the metal themselves, which could make u a lot more than scrap value.
Guy who made this comment is obviously just a scrapper doesn’t know what he’s talking about.... this is made for industrial scale the copper dust is going to get melted down this isn’t for selling to a scrapyard
it is designed by some Chinese company? Depending on a guy to be careful how he throws the wires and "listening" to sound and vibrations of the machine? WTF
Thanks algorithm.
I mean I don't own enough scrap copper wire to ever even consider granulating it but I liked the video a lot.
This is cool. I have seen many similar machines but this one looks advanced.
Loader needs a loading belt or your going to lose a limb.
Even shaq isnt tall enough to reach down to where the blades are
Loading hopper would be better. Keeps the bulk loading below the choke point fo the machine. Wouldn't take up as much space either. Fill up the box, push a button, and the box tips in to the shredder.
It doesn't look like there is emergency stop within reaching distance either...

I like this but what keeps the wire from pulling a guys arm into the machine is there some kind of killswitch or something?
Is there a stop switch near the hopper? If the operator get caught with wire how does one stop it?
It's looks like they skipped over the risk analysis part during the design process
Pretty darn good! only question I have is the price, We all know the old saying! if you have to ask , you can't afford it!
I'd be afraid of getting my hand/arm sucked into that lmao but awesome machine
