One of the best factory tour videos ever! Dave McLaren was great and is clearly passionate about his job and Thomann's host was pretty chill. Good job Thomann and thanks for the content. Leo Fender was a true genius, all musicians owe a lot to him. May he rest in peace.
Ok for the real eagled eyed, if you look at the back of the studio near the wall (1:34) you'll notice a bass body. That bass body is the second production pre ernie ball Stingray bass ever made. It was made for Louis Johnston to test with two long pole humbuckers. It never went into production hence the fact that the Stingray under MusicMan and CLF never made one and here it sits just piling on dust. For those of us who are collectors and historians of MusicMan this office is the holy grail, it has parts we can never get any longer and they just sit on benches and in trays - kinda sad but also kind of beautiful too. Love your work Leo, you are missed my friend.
I would be very proud to own a G&L instrument after watching this videos. True artisans lead by a great humble guy, with all the history behind them. A new bass will be in sight, and coming from them.
You might find it stupid or childish, but when I bought my current home, near Bordeaux (France), I discovered that the rest room walls tiles (which are VERY old) were SURF GREEN! We made many changes and improvements in that home, but I never wanted to change these tiles, paying tribute to Mr. Leo's memory. Each time I come to that tiny quiet room, I have a thought for the genius who designed my wonderful '52 Tele...
This was really well done - thanks for the tour. There were sooooo many innovators around that time in the US. In the HiFi world, Rudy Bozak, Saul Marantz, etc. come to mind as contemporaries of Mr. Fender.
The more modern designs and the great quality of their budget models the tribute series. Look at this one here 😍 www.thomann.de/de/gl_trib_asat_classic_bluesboy_co.htm?r=app
The telecaster for sure, everything is an inspiration and a joy for me on this guitar! thanks so much for this factory tour, it was great to see everyone keep up the work of Leo, and very emotional episode!

Nice infos about this legend ! thx
Very cool!
Awesome 😊
So which one of Leo's companies make your favourite guitars: G&L, Fender or MusicMan?
//Andy
Hard to decide between G&L and Fender but if I had to chose I'd pick G&L.
Why's that, Rod?
//Andy
Fender for the win 🤙

Fender, because I own one.
yeah thank you, now i have to explain to my girlfriend why i'm tearing up like a little girl in front of two guys in a dusty office :D !
You're not alone man. Let's hug it out. What's your favourite of Leo's creations?
//Andy

The ASAT/Tele are amazing creations. It really shows his genius that decades later it’s one of the most popular selling guitars of all time. Love G&L
Great vid, but nasty little office with no windows. Poor Leo Fender, such a great pioneer working in this depressing environment.
Really sad story about Leo's last day. Was the baritone ever brought into production?
What happened to the Band Of Susans poster? Leo was a actually a fan of those guys. Whoever took it down needs to be flogged.
Leo was a genius, but let’s not forget George Fullerton designed the look, didn’t he?
