We sailed on the QUEEN MARY 2 for a transatlantic cruise from Southampton England to the Brooklyn Navel Yard in New York. Our cruise was 8 nights and we stopped in La Harve, France then 7 nights at sea. We stayed in a Princess Grill Suite and throughly enjoyed the trip, beyond our expectations. Cunard is on our cruise bucket list but my hubby is a little apprehensive about booking it. He thinks it would be TOO formal for us and he wouldn't enjoy the experience. Well we have to try it to form an opinion, right? Thank you for a great tour!

I dont have a formal dress, best I could do was black velvet pants and a pretty top. Didn't feel out of place at all.

Great video. My QM 2 westbound trip in the Princess Grill Suite was one of my most relaxing trips ever. I’m planning a 2024 Christmas Crossing. There were 8 of us traveling and if I had one criticism, we always dined together at night but we broke up during the day but I had to sit as the same table of 8 whether there was 1 or 2 or any number dining. The food was amazing. I will do more of these over the years. 1:14:45

Thank you very much for this most informative video. It struck me that the QM2 was designed for trans Atlantic travel. I wonder how the ship copes with World Cruises, where the climate is far warmer. There did not seem to be much focus on outside experiences. Could the ship deal with the majority of passengers wanting to sit by the pool?

Great questions and yes, it’s DEFINITELY was made for ocean crossings, she’s the worlds only Ocean Liner in service today. Some of their longer trips include going to the Caribbean after NY and again back to Southampton/Germany.
Since more than 1/2 her trips do not involve “pool weather” we doubt there’s much demand for the pools. I hope this helps😉

Brittania Club is the dedicated dining for guests in Balcony Club rooms. So, Inside, Oceanview, and Balcony rooms are assigned the Britannia Dining Room. Balcony Club rooms are assigned tables in the Britannia Club dining room. I think that Britannia Club has anytime dining. You are assigned a table and can show up anytime during service. We will be in a Balcony Club room next May for an Eastbound TA. So excited! I love your ship tours, so thanks!
The Club has single seating, with assigned tables like in the 'Grills'. [same table for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner] There are a couple of additional menu choices [I think the same as the Britannia 'always available' items]. There is some table side preparation and enhanced presentation. The Category A1 & A2 rooms are all the way up and all the way forward - BC passengers can get more exercise that way 🙂

Was the ship really as uncrowded as it looked?
Usually, even when fully booked, it is rare to feel crowded. On our October/November 2022 sailing, the only notable lines seemed to be the folks queuing for 'open' dining in the Britannia main dining room.
Just as @dl11950 stated, the ship was FULL and it never seemed crowded anywhere at anytime. She’s an awesome vessel😊
Not a criticism, just an observation. While I enjoy your ship tours, I couldn't help but notice passengers cringing as you recorded. Just curious what the ship rules are regarding filming. BTW, you do a great job of trying not to include them.
We’re glad you enjoy our ship tours. We speak to most of, if not all passengers(off camera) we pass when recording to let the them know what we’re doing, most are curious.
Cringing probably isn’t the right word as much as trying to get out of our way or avoiding. It’s funny most say they are sorry for interfering lol. We have only had 1 time that someone asked us to please not include them and we reshot that spot to exclude them. We appreciate your feedback and thoughts, thanks for sharing your concern. As for the ship rules, there really aren’t any. There’s no expectation of privacy when we are in public places. Especially in the social/digital world we live in today. We truly make every effort to respect others and their privacy issues/requests.

QM2 vs Edge class?
Very different. QM2 is classic traditional and really wonderful. Edge class is modern and beautiful and awesome.
If given the same stateroom type with the same category, I, Joyce, would choose Edge class. It is more different from the typical old fashioned, traditional cruise ship. 😊🥰
