  • Hi, In this video I wanna share about NYEPI DAY in Bali
    I think it’s very important for you to know before traveling to Bali, because it’s only happen in Bali.
    I believe that we all know most Balinese are Hindus. Based on their Saka Calendar, Nyepi is A New Year for Balinese Hindus. Nyepi is a public holiday in Indonesia but it celebrates only in Bali, known as A Day of Silence.
    For Balinese Hindus, there are 4 main rituals on Nyepi Day;
    Amati Geni means NO fire
    Amati Karya : NO work
    Amati Lelangon : NO pleasure
    Amati Lelungan means NO traffic
    NYEPI or A Day of Silence is a tradition that began in the past where Balinese must do a self-reflection on the behavior they have been doing in the past few years. They also believed that a silence for a whole day could drive away the evil spirits from Bali.
    SITUATIONS IN BALI DURING NYEPI DAY
    It makes a very unique experience; the whole island is in silence for 24 hours. That means everyone who stay in Bali on Nyepi Day, must respect or follow the Nyepi rituals.
    That’s why on that day; all shops are closed, airport is closed (no flights in or flights out) - no traffic at all.
    So, we must stay at home. And for you as visitors must stay at the hotels, no activities outside. The other important things we should know; We cannot make any loud of noise, cannot light a big fire or lights - everything’s must be kept in low. Only emergencies are taken into consideration and tolerated.

      Thank you so much for your support!
      Nyepi means Silence. Saka Calendar, let's start with the easy one; The saka calendar is based on the moons cycles. The year is divided in to 12 months consisting of 29 - 30 days each, each month beginning after the new moon. Every 30 months an extra month is added to keep the calendar in sync with the solar year.
