- This film covers moulting your hawks and hopefully will take the stress and worry out of it for novices and newbies especially.
A topic that’s often discussed but is perfectly normal and easy ; we discuss the whys and where fors.
Cracking stuff Dave
Very good helpful information for people dave as always.
Cheers
I always keep the main flight feathers that my girl sheds.
Helps me to monitor how the moult is going.

Excellent video! Can you do a few videos on the Red Tails like you have the Harris hawk's?
Ok bare with but will do ; many are equally for reds too such as the moulting one and lamping one etc . Will do a more specific one asap
@@falconry.davesharpenatureboy excellent thank you.
I like your videos very much-they are useful, interesting and authentic. I wish they would also exist in german language. 😉
At a very hard push I may be bake to do some Spanish but sadly German no ! But I’m glad you like them despite that and thanks for the comments
Thanks
Wnat did you use for your mews walls? Is that jusf painted plywood?
White plastic board on most of them , painted plywood works if well varnished …
can i put to stay outside with eyes open my wild goshawk while moulting or should i always wear him his cap ?
Yes but only you know your hawk , if always hooded he won’t get used to anything , but you need to make sure he doesn’t damage his feathers or get hit and stressed . Keep a close eye and put somewhere quiet . If he’s moulting tethered he won’t do a full moult due to higher stress levels .
Flew and hunted right through both my harris hawks moults no problem . Really you don’t, keep them fit and at a high weight.. plenty of baby rabbits around.
Have you got an email
Yes but don’t like giving it out due to spammers ; how can I help ?
@@falconry.davesharpenatureboy have a bird that had a bad experience and doesn't want to ride box nor the hood is working any ideas
Will. Reply this eve
Have you tried basic stuff re travel box , get him on weight so concentrating , have box on table etc not floor , door wide open ; will he jump into box for tidbit places on perch ? Leave door open and let him hop back out into glove
: and repeat a good few times daily and move in form there to shutting door for a second as he locks up food to eat then open and hop out ?
@@falconry.davesharpenatureboy yes he kicked thru travel box ..at the bottom ..no he acts fine as long as the vehicle isn't moving but once it starts moving he throws a fit .
