- In this animated lecture, I will teach you about london dispersion forces, van der waals forces, and intermolecular forces. Also, I will teach you about how do you identify London dispersion forces?
Q: What are london dispersion forces?
Ans: London dispersion forces are the intermolecular forces between anything both polarity and nonpolar. London dispersion forces are also called as van der waals forces. London dispersion forces exist in everything. London dispersion forces also exist in polar molecules like water and Hydrogen fluoride, but London dispersion forces or van der waals forces are dominant intermolecular forces in non polar molecules like Carbon dioxide and Hydrogen gas.
For example, van der waals forces or London dispersion forces are dominant intermolecular forces in fluorine ga, chlorine gas, bromine water and iodine.
To learn more about London dispersion forces and van der waals forces or intermolecular forces, watch this lecture till the end.
