After you get the headlights nice and clear, I found that a few coats of 2K clear coat works great! It "seals" the headlights and prevents micro particles from embedding into the plastic. By sealing you prevent oxidation. I did the headlights of a Grand Caravan 3yrs ago in the same way and they still look like the day I did them. Caravans are notorious for yellow, dirty, dingey headlights. Just a suggestion👍
I did this.. it absolutely destroys the headlight and makes it look like it’s shattered .. then you have to resand the whole thing starting at 220grit. It’s a nightmare.
Looking forward to seeing your 9-3 at SOC this year! I similarly have a list of things going that I want to get done to mine before the convention this year lol. This will be my first one too as I bought my first Saab last year, but looking at your coverage from last year's show in Chicago, it gives off similar vibes to the Oldsmobile Homecoming shows I've gone to in the past. It's truly awesome to see the passion that people have for the brand and keeping its spirit alive too!
Gonna be there in spirit this year due to the 36hr drive required. Looking forward to the videos you all put out at SOC though!! SOC23 was my first and will not be the last. Really great to meet all of you guys and see all the Saabs! The cars are great to see, but it really is true that meeting the people is the best part.
Good video! 👍🏻 You are awesome! 😊 I did the same with the headlights. At first I worked with 1000 paper. Then with 1500, 2000, 2500. Then I polished with 3M paste number 09374, 75 and 76. Then I covered the headlights with 3M protection film. Everything is fine. The wipers were cleaned of paint by sandblasting. Then powder coated. It’s ok 😊
Saw you figured that applying some heat helps a lot to remove old film/wrap. When I'm wrapping stuff I use heat to correct imperfections. I'm not sure about how much heat 3m's ppf can take but maybe just a gentle touch of heat (like from a hairdryer) could help against the imperfections. If you have some left overs from the ppf you could try to scratch it a little and see if you can restore it with some heat.
thanks for the tip! I'm not sure why this PPF would not cooperate - wrap I had used in the past was far easier to manipulate, and these headlights are a pretty simple surface
!!!!JUST GOT A SUPER CLEAN 06 9-3 AERO!!!! TODAY!!!!! happy to be apart of fam!!! And im open to any suggestion and help!!! Please tell me the best places to look for everything and if anyone know a saab master that knows everything!!! I need his number 😂!!!
Congrats on the purchase! This channel can be a great resource, especially for beginners. I am available on Instagram for more specific questions - @auto.autopsy
Recently picked up a 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0t. Everything was great until last weekend I was getting onto the highway and after a few miles on I lost engine power(almost like in limp mode) Would slowly accelerate when petal is pressed to the floor, but would sound great when reved in park . Had a code p0300 and replaced maf sensor. Am still having the same problem with lack of acceleration. Any suggestions? Within the past year it’s had maf ,spark plugs ,coils, fuel pump , ecm with spacer installed, bsr “cold air intake” . Boost controllers, it did run better when unplugging lower boost controller (closer to ecm). Thanks!
I have a question about your Saab 9-3 Arc... Did you mount an Aero spoiler on the front bumper? I've seen a lot of Arc models that come with a different kind of front spoiler.
Had a question. I've got an 03 9-3 sedan. I absolutely hate the manual recliner knob for the passenger seat. Any ideas on something to replace it with that isn't meant for someone with Andre the Giant hands? Its awfully uncomfortable to turn. Thanks so much! Great channel! Buying the bluetooth module from your video soon to install.
a few reasons! the 9-3 is really still my "OG" car and the one I'm most proud of, the 900 isn't exactly in SOC prime condition (still desperately needs paints), and the trip is so long that I wouldn't really trust my 900 that far :)
@Auto Autopsy, I have been a fan and subscriber to you for many years. I own 2 Saab's 9-3, 2010 and 2011. The 2010 with 93,000 miles has no issues. The 2011 with 145,300 has an issue, maybe you can help me with diagnosing the problem. Here is the scenario.... The 2011 runs GREAT on start up, idol, cruising speeds, and SOMETIMES full throttle(peddle to the metal). The problem is when accelerating in a high gear that is low RPM (1900 ish) and the boost goes in to the first touch of the red on the turbo gauge...Then the whole engine cuts out(like cluck cluck cluck) loss of power, THEN you let off the throttle and go to regualer driving speeds there is no issues. This only occurs during max boost in low MPH and RPM. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP I do not want to part this car off. Its what I use to go to work. Please call 916
@AutoAutopsy too many clashing colors. It's not horrible with the blue, but with colors like red and black it's too contrasting. I always replaced the orange bulbs in the headlights with chrome colored amber lights

Hmm, maybe I should try spray clear coat. I haven’t used that before on headlights but maybe it’s worth a shot
@AutoAutopsy just buff it out really good between coats of clear.

@GarreTTTurncoaT Maybe you did something wrong🤷 Mine came out great on both the 9-3 and the Grand Caravan.
Ugghh, cant wait for the sneak peak video!!!
I'm so excited to get all of this work done!

If you've haven't gone before, you'll love it. Possibly my favorite weekend of the year!
@@AutoAutopsy Yeah, seeing the coverage from last year's show, it definitely looks like it's an absolute blast!

100%! that's quite a journey so I think that's a valid excuse! lol

Thank you! 😊
Will you be attending SAABs @ Carlisle in May? I'm hoping to bring my newly acquired 2011 NG9-5, and represent the Saab Club of Canada :)
Looking forward too seeing you at Carlisle
nice! I will not this year unfortunately; it is a bit too close to SOC timing wise and about 2500 miles from me

😩 of course it’s like the furthest location away from me lol
:(((
You really need to clearcoat those headlights. Makes a big difference and they last way longer.
I'll look back into it, definitely would be worthwhile to preserve them

yep, it's got an aero spoiler mounted to it. here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/5GTaGp02hfA/v-deo.html
Very good my friend perfect 👌 👌
Thank you!

thanks for the support! not that I know of; someone with a 3D printer might be able to print something custom/smaller
I would've bought depot headlights off ebay and added leds or 55w xenons. Another option is to 2k clear your current lights.
Yeah I’m thinking I’ll need to 2k clear them
Use 2K clear coat for headlights. Will last for years unchanged and will cost you about the same as the wrap.
thanks for the tip, seems to be a good alternative!
You're not taking the 900? Why not?

hi George. sounds like you're experiencing a misfire. this video should help! ua-cam.com/video/xJyNJzFX2JI/v-deo.html
Euro strips...
Ehhh I like the US spec with the orange indicators better personally
