Lyrics: Baby tell me about you more You know there is no need to run Look at myself, I was like you so we're the same Baby take me to your place I'll take good care of you Just keep saying my love is true Just me and you, let's try it out I'm not a kid anymore And I say it makes no difference to me Baby tell me about you more You know there is no need to run Look at myself I was like you so we're the same Baby take me to your place I'll take good care of you Just keep saying my heart is true I don't want to miss You don't know what you've got until it's gone All I want is to stay by your side I can see your face and I feel the same ever since you found me out so I can hear your voice right now yea! I know what I want but waking up is always so hard Baby tell me about you more You know there is no need to run Look at myself I was like you we're the same Baby take me to your place I'll take good care of you just keep saying my love is true Just me and you, let's try it out I'm not a kid anymore And I say it makes no difference to me I can feel you now and it's getting me high I know that I have a crush on you now I can hear your voice right now yea! I know what I want but waking up is always so hard
Are you sure about that? There was an English version of the songs created way after the original game came out, but it's kinda hard to find concrete facts about what actually happened. Forgive me if my original comment was combative
Because it is love song. The May sky; the day you guided me to my lost future The radiant sea; your eyes which believe in strength and kindness bewitch me I'm childish and selfish, but I'm not lost anymore Bon voyage around the world Packing in every feeling Bon voyage across the world This unstoppable girl is a Lady, Jolly Roger The dry wind; I've sworn to convey this vow to his smile The shining star; the power of love dwells in my hand, and I'm not about to lose! If my overflowing dream opens the map, I'm not afraid anymore This a Love song from May to Johnny. So intensely a Love song
If you go to the videos on Order Sol's account, one of the singers of the project gave an interview on the comments page. He and the other singers had to do the entire gig in a single night, had to translate the song by lyrical creative content (not by language, the jp staff did that already), and had no clue or were given info on what Guilty Gear was. Essentially, they rewrote the song on the fly to the best of their abilities, with a sort of "on the fly inspiration" approach (you can call it halfassed if you want, but Jay Gordon of Orgy handpicked them if I believe). They were also given the lyrics from the Lapis Lazuli album as well as some direction for the new characters from XX at the time; the interviewee said that the "lyrics sounded like a cheesy nintendo song", so they made the songs sound more like American/western music, which is the result. Yeah, I can understand the backlash, like anime and stuff were just getting their footholds in the States by the time the album came out and anime fans were upset they weren't given more direct image album and power metal based songs, but as one said, "at least it isn't rap rock/nu metal".
Guilty Gear is By Your Side
Lyrics:
Baby tell me about you more You know there is
no need to run Look at myself, I was like you so
we're the same
Baby take me to your place I'll take good care
of you Just keep saying my love is true
Just me and you, let's try it out I'm not a kid
anymore And I say it makes no difference to me
Baby tell me about you more You know there is
no need to run Look at myself I was like you so
we're the same
Baby take me to your place I'll take good care
of you Just keep saying my heart is true
I don't want to miss
You don't know what you've got until it's gone
All I want is to stay by your side
I can see your face and I feel the same
ever since you found me out so
I can hear your voice right now yea!
I know what I want but waking up is always
so hard
Baby tell me about you more
You know there is no need to run
Look at myself I was like you
we're the same
Baby take me to your place
I'll take good care of you just keep saying
my love is true
Just me and you, let's try it out
I'm not a kid anymore
And I say it makes no difference to me
I can feel you now and it's getting me high
I know that I have a crush on you now
I can hear your voice right now yea! I know
what I want but waking up is always
so hard
My fav song from guilty gears
I still prefer to think the final chorus goes:
_I can feel you now and it's scaring me how_
_I know that I have a crush on you_
The first riff its the same from the song "Forever" by Skid Row
My fav GG song, amazing
this song is fu**kin awesome :3
Actually not bad. But my favorite vocal version is still the Skid Row song :)
I perfer the japanese version but this one isnt bad
Pretty much
If they did not want to sing on this music, they could have stopped
Why did the translators makes it a love thing to this extent? Bad form
because it's not a translator thing, they wrote completely different songs for EN and JP versions of all the tracks for it.

Because half of Mays character arc is about being in love with Johnny. The one that's pushed to the forefront of her story presence.
