Thing is it's misleading, especially for younger people because they think life's that way and then get dissapointed when it's not.
Yes, racking the pistol is for safety, but that means there is no bullet in the chamber after insertion of the magazine. She didn't rack it after loading the gun so Leonard couldn't hav shot himself in real life.

You can't expect the hollyweird people who created this show to get guns right. Case in point: the moment Penny handed Leonard the gun the range officer would have been shouting about how he was pointing the muzzle.

A semi-auto handgun and a pump-action shotgun work on two different reloading principles. And yes, it can chamber (a pistol can). Note that I said 'some' not 'all.' It may not be all, but I know my handgun-in the +1 clip configuration-will chamber a round.

please correct me if i'm wrong, at 13 seconds is that a guy walking around without ear protection when pistols are being fired? that would hurt. second, penny cocked the pistol, then put a magazine in, there would be no round in the chamber. is this correct?
Penny made a mistake here: she pulled back the slide on the gun to chamber a round, then she put in the magazine. Then leonard shot himself. But after she put in the magazine she had to pull the slide to actually chamber a round. There was no magazine before so there couldn't of being a live round for leonard o shoot himself.
Either way, I love this show!!!
