Born in 1946 and raised in Stamford, this city gave me a great start in life. My career took me elsewhere, but I always dreamed of returning home. Now that I'm retired, I have finally come back, and I love being here even with all the changes that have taken place.
I was born and raised in Stamford, CT, but no longer live there. It was a beautiful place to grow up. I have many fond memories of downtown. I used to go to Woolworth's store with my Mom and spent most of the summer on Cove Beach and Shippan. I attended Westhill High School. Stamford is a very beautiful small city that has grown leaps and bounds in the past 30 years. A lot of employer's now make Stamford their headquarters. Close proximity to NYC make it an ideal location. The area became too expensive for my family to stay, but I would love to go back and visit one day!
Born here in 1953,grew up in the Cove (Garden of Eden) moved to Glenbrook when I was 12,moved to Florida in 75,moved back in 82. The saying you can never really go home is sadly very true.!! Great place to grow up as a kid, wish I could have given my son the same experience.
this is old, I'm born raised and still live in stamford, the hoyt-barnum house stood downtown for over 300 years, it was disassembled and moved to north stamford, to make way for a new P.D. st. Johns towers are currently being torn down, the carriage house is currently being torn down, the 2 cottages on the property have been torn down. stamford has no history left.
On Cedar Heights Road, aren't those 2 really old houses still there. One was called Witch Stone or something. Passed it everyday when walking to and from Willard and TOR. I was always afraid to look in the windows.
"Stamford" is gone.Sold to the highest bidders with no emotional attachment to it at all.Sad for them...at least the "natives" know....what Stamford once was and have their memories.
This is very old. Agudath Shalom moved from the red brick building into a modern building on Strawberry Hill Avenue in the 1960s! It said this slide show was made in 2017, but clearly they werent' using the most recent photos.

Woolworth's closed a while back. Westhill went down the tubes but we have a Poppies and Cheesecake Factory now.
Where's the HISTORY????!!!! This is horrible.
Oh cares about TODAY!
Worst video ever - not one photo of Shippan Point. A million churches - one Synagogue.
The Stamford I grew up in has been long gone for a while. Makes me sad every time I visit CT
I am the original Stamford Resident and can remember some sites, OH HOW I MISS Stamford

And I remember when they "built" Washington Blvd, but not sure if that was before or after St. John's Towers were put up.
Just to be clear. The Agudath Sholem Synagogue is now Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church on Grove Street. I know because it is my family’s Church.
I love Stamford I do not want to leave my Stamford ever

I was born in Stamford in 1979 and left in 2003. It’s safer now but I hear those were the golden days of our fine city.
