- I've made a Starting with Nothing challenge in Going Medieval - I imagine you'll like this one! Still in early access, though it incorporates Z-levels and 3-D graphics. A lot like a more accessible Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress.

Let me know if you have any other challenge ideas. Still seems this one's fairly early in EA, hence the balancing of combat, etc. - though I really think the concept is rather smashing. Thoughts?

Hi AA i got an idea idk if its possible i didnt check but how about a solo rimworld survival with psionic warrior of some sort
You could do genetic rim for Rimworld and try to make the strongest and dumbest animal.

It was the moats.
Well it works exactly like this in Rimworld too. And in all actuality, in medieval times, this is exactly how it would work. You are building on the King's land. Straight to dungeons, right away.
Makes more sense than Rimworld's.
amphibian: sets 'force colonist trait chance' for cannibal and industrious to 100%
also amphibian: 12:56 why does everyone have these same traits
So this Is Just Rimworld, but well.. gone medieval. Nice.

Better in a number of ways, a little less in-depth and slightly annoying in others

Yes I think they've been pretty open with that - I like that there's a lot of games openly borrowing from that formula now tbh. The Z-Levls are nice and dwarf-fortress-y, though I imagine that Early Access will be a lot of balancing we'll see as well as systems added like livestock. Just pre-empting a lot of the criticism without overly-highlighting it, as well as expressing my genuine amazement at how much potential it has!
Trebuchets in history: Gigantic, inaccurate siege engines manned by a dozen soldiers to throw rocks and diseased animals
Trebuchets in Going Medieval: One-man siege sniper rifles with magical properties
Those trebuchets seriously need nerfing
I’m pretty sure trebuchets were very very accurate irl
@@scottedwards3403 I believe trebuchet were only sort of accurate, used moreso to destroy the various buildings within the walls of a castle- or the walls themselves.
Ballistae were more accurate, being giant crossbows.
But who knows, we don't know shit about our ancient counterparts- just interpretations of the bits and pieces that have survived over the centuries.
They were VERY accurate... for medieval standards.
You wouldn't be able to hit the exact same floor-tile three-dozen times in a row, however.

I about lost it when you cut to him standing at the research table for the first time. Edric is a very vertically challenged individual.

Many games start as some form of copy of another but then eventually become their own great thing.
This game looks like it has a lot of promise! Would love to see more of this 3d RimWorld gone medivial.

Darn, I'd have imagined Medieval siege craft to be less accurate. Those things were sniper masters!
trebuchets were basically the equivalent of modern artillery. humans didnt screw around when they were hurling boulders at each other. the Warwolf trebuchet hoiked a 300 pound boulder and that could bring down entire sections of walls like a meteor
@@Brunghis The trebuchet basically just hurls giant stones and fucks everything in the general direction it is facing towards, but it certainly wasn't known for its pinpoint accuracy to repeatedly shoot and hit soldiers behind the walls like some calibrated modern artillery piece.

Oh hell yeah, I've been watching the VODs for this game and I'm hype as hell
ive been following this game since it was originally announced. Was so excited. I played the recent beta test before official launch. I was a bit sad of its current state, but there is so much potential, so I really do hope that it gets more deep in the long run, including when we start getting mods.

As a carpenter, I can tell you building wooden walls is actually fairly quick and easy.

I think the setting you turned on at the start to get your first guy was to make sure all the characters had those traits so Canabilism for everyone.
I like that the raiders have trebuchets with phasing technology, the projectile ignore walls.
"Rimworld-like" is such an interestin way to say 'Dwarf Fortress-like'.
