- With New York City migrant shelters at full capacity, the situation is so dire that Mayor Eric Adams has said that migrants could end up on the streets. Now, many of those who came to the United States in search of a better life are finding the American Dream difficult to achieve. FOX 5 NY's Stephanie Bertini spoke to a single mother of 4 who says she fears her family could end up homeless.

Take the one plane ticket back home with her kids and tell others not to come to America.

I know several Americans who fear being homeless.
I've seen homeless people passing through our small town while we have illegal aliens housed at a hotel here in town. Tucson has had a homeless problem for over a decade, yet the politicians have no problem finding housing, hotels to house illegals . SHAMEFUL how Americans who are homeless are left on the streets while these criminals have a roof over their head.
And I'll bet they've worked their whole lives, too. The "American Dream" is dead and buried.

I meant us Puertoricans don't need immigration papers, we don't need passports to go to and from the island, those born there we are American citizens, etc. We get same exactly birth rights as those born in the 50 states and don't need to be an "anchor baby" to get those rights. More than half of us are rooted with native blood as well. Doesn't get any more American than us.

There are a lot of Americans that are homeless and wishes they had a place to stay. Many wish to have the American dream even those who are Americans. But for some those dreams are dreams sad to say. Things are rough all over. Economy is bad. Rent/mortgage keep going up and up. We have the same kind of weather, hurricane, tornadoes etc. It's bad enough people like our veterans being homeless they deserve to have a home first.

This single mother of 4 just needs to find an employer that will need her job skills and give her a job with a pay scale that will allow her to rent a 3 bedroom apartment in Manhattan, purchase a knew SUV, and pay daycare for the children all by the end of the month.
