When the shock was blown you just feel everything on that side of the car with no cushion. Bumps are felt very hard and turns are more intresting to say the least. Once you get the shock out, the shock will have no resistance on pushing down. You can look on priming a shock or strut so you can see how they are suppose to have a lot of resistance. All that kept the car from just being on the ground was the coil spring. The noise was also a lot of rattle with any bump (because it is just that huge coil sping releasing after being compressed). If you remove the tire from the area and all the items like axles, control arms, and all look good and not bent or warn down, it should be the struts/shocks.
@@notbanksy8294 I also forgot when I jacked up that side I checked to make sure there wasn't movement in the tire at north and south or east and west. Checking the bushings.
What about the timing belt? Also if you didn’t do this service I would change the pvc valve. apparently they do have some problems where they get stuck inside the housing and they won’t come out. It will use oil if the pvc is not working properly.
The timing belt I think was done before I had gotten the car at around 120k. I have not done the PVC valve, the oil loss is very little. Thank you for letting me know on the PVC valve!
When it is just me in the car on the highway I get about 29 mpg on a 600 mile trip. In town it was high teens, but that was with lots of stops and usually not getting over 40 mph. The 5 series bmw got worse with gas mileage and was a 2000 model. Compared to newer cars it is bad, but for the year and a V6 it is average.
@@jessewh187 EPA rating is 22hwy for the 3.7l which is what mine gets. If you are milking 29mpg out of yours you should talk to the Honda engineers. They would love you.
Thanks for the video. Can you explain what symptoms you experienced with the blown shock, noise, etc.?
