Marshall and Barbaree's Integrated Theory of Adolescent Sex Offending

The first of the 'integrated theories' was advanced by Marshall and Barbaree in the early 1990s to explain adolescent-onset sexual offending. This model integrated a range of different areas of psychology, from attachment issues in development through to the biological changes that emerge in puberty, to explain how and why some adolescents might develop and act upon deviant sexual scripts.
