Hot Digity Dog,the Pickled Beans are ready, come and get em 😋. Thanks Chef Justro, yep Tipper is a Treasure with Celebrating Appalachia. Have a Good Evening Friend 🙂.
I grew up in Oklahoma and moved to the north a long time ago, I LOVE watching videos just to hear that southern talk 😍 All the other content is a bonus !
That’s it! From now on I’m not watching your food videos until after 9 am. Wanting pickled beans at 530 am is not right 😂😂😂😂. And yes, tipper, Matt and the girls are awesome 👏. Love their videos
This is going in my “Favorites from Justro” notebook! I really appreciate your simple, clear instructions. Making elderberry syrup today. I should’ve made it when I first saw your video. The whole family’s sick today. I’ll save my comments on that for the elderberry video. Thank you so much for sharing all this great information. God bless!!!♥️
like grandma use to do it. Thank you sir ! I really do appreciate what you do !! Thank you Justro !! Looks like what we call Fatback in South Carolina,
Whew. Good to know that I don’t have to have a tomato stain on my towel.😆 Those beans and shellys look so delicious in those jars Justin.💚 Thanks for sharing your mom’s special recipe. And how you cook them too. I’m definitely taking notes. I have a question. Did Appalachian folk make tomato gravy? It was very common in Piedmont and eastern NC. Fry up the midlean meat like you did, or fat back, cook the tomatoes down in the grease with salt and pepper. Sop it with my grandmother’s (or my mom’s) lightest, fluffiest biscuit in the world… It was the best.❤️
Thanks again Justin! The beans looked really good. I was wondering if you remember all of your recipes or do you have to refer to notes? Not everybody is old like me and forgetful. I appreciate the good things you share with all of us.
Yeah I wish I could taste them. It's been 25yrs since I have had any. I am the only person in my family that eats them. I may talk my aunt into some halfrunners this year to make me some. Thank you from bringing back to mind what I need to do.
It must be green bean day. Tipper talked about them on her Blind Pig and the Acorn blog this morning. I love green beans and could eat them till they run out my ears. I'm coming to your house for supper 😃
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the old ways with us. I know that you are to busy to do a cook book and how to book on old time ways of canning, fermentation, and cooking, but maybe Virginia might! She could use the money from the sales for something that she would like. Thank you so much for all you do Justro!
Looking good!! Have you ever tried putting some fresh dried cayenne pepper in there, girls may not like it but I bet you would. Make two separate batches I would put jalapeños in my sauerkraut. Man you got my taste buds excited. Do you ever pickle okra?
I've never had fermented beans, but they sure look tasty! I might try making a few jars while I still have beans. Ms. Tipper's channel is a joy to watch, and her daughters' channel is, too.
I think it awesome you learned how to can...that's uncommon for a man. I love dill pickled beans. I don't can (cook) mine. I cap them off when they're done in their brine and set them in a cool dark space.
I tried to send you a picture of those late peas I planted a few weeks ago, my phone doesn't have good service, so if you get several of the same emails, that's why.
Justin Pickled pecans are one of my favorite things to eat. I like to pickle corn in with the beans makes some good eating. I want to make some pickles this year also. Watch you’re channel all the time and also Tipper
My grandmother use to put out a little jar of half of vinegar white let set on counter thay like it change it ever so often from stev c from state Oregon hope it wood help you Dearing canning
If you set out a piece of fruit in a bowl of raw apple cider vinegar, fruit juice, or wine, it will attract almost every fruit fly in your kitchen. Once you have a good amount on the bait, you can use your vaccume hose to suck them right off the bowl. Then, slowly wave the vaccume hose around in the air around the area. Be sure to get the ones that settle on the walls and cupboard doors too. I usually need to leave the bait out and come back to vaccume it a few times because there are always a few that escape the wrath of the vaccume hose of death. This method works far better than any trap I've ever seen. I don't know how I ever survived all those harvest seasons before I knew about this method. Be sure to get rid of the bait as soon as you're finished or a new batch will hatch off of it in no time.
Justro, these here beans sure do look good. And, truth be told, I don't think I've ever had a pickled bean. You mentioned kraut and the making thereof. I agree with Charo, if it's not too late in the season, could you show us how you make your sauerkraut? I haven't had any homemade kraut since my Grammaw passed away and I'd like to see how it's done. God Bless you and thank you for sharing.
Justin, I leave my kraut in the gallon jar I make it in and store in fridge…I take out one quart jar at the time…was wondering why you can’t do that so they will have all the good probiotics in them…
I remember my grandma had caned beans they had a kinda little sweet and a vinegar taste man they we’re good I know what you got would be some kinda good
Ok man. I went back thru to make sure I checked every vid n I think this is the last one🤣 I always comment on your channel billy's n renewed homestead for that algorithm..sometimes it's stupid or a meme but here ya go!!
I really enjoyed this video ! I really love green beans very much ! I want those beans to jump right into my mouth ! They look delicious ! Ty sir!❤️🙏🏻💕
I sent my other comment before I heard you dedicate this video to Tipper at Celebrating Appalachia. For those who may not know, her daughters also have a channel, The Pressley Girls. Another good one is the Homesteading Pastor. Everyone be sure to check all of them out, they are great!
Enjoyed your video. Have you tried an open 1/2 pint jar with a little apple cider vinegar setting in your kitchen window for the gnats? Also, alcohol will remove the sharpie from your canning lids. Works for me!😊
I have a comment about the water filter sorry off subject. My last shipment of Yorkshire tea I thought the Brits were messing up but it was the filter, I still use it for cooking but not making tea.
Wondering whether Or not I’d like them. I do t care much for okra, but really like pickled okra. I’m not crazy about beans, but perhaps I’d like pickled beans. Who knows? I’ve never tried any. If I see some somewhere I’ll have to try some.
If you want to get wary city folks to try pickled beans, be sure to invite them to try your "haricots marinés" ("AIR-ee-coe mah-ree-NAY"). Giving something its french name will always get the "sophisticated" folks to eat good country food ; -)
Thats ok you have been pretty busy with the girls ,canning, and milling maybe next year.I have something i think i need to share with you i was online and i found this lady her name is ms.lori she showed this thang that looked like a coffee pot but it was a milling pot and she was milling and making bread my question is ?did you know about this and is this your pot
Do you pressure cook those pickled beans? How long? Or do you water bath them? They look amazing. Great job never mind I was impatient you answered this. They look so good
Could you please give me your recipe my grandma used to make them all the time and they are so good butt I've never been able to get them to come out right, how much salt and water do you use, she also pickled them in her jars instead of her crock, please help, I gotta have some 😊😊
Thank you. A while back, I commented that I had bought some greasy pole bean seeds from someone in Clyde,NC and that I hoped they were the ones I remembered when we lived there. They have done beautifully and omg they are so good. I am one happy gardener. Love your stories. BTW, I planted them by the moon. :)

Half Runners, Pink Tips, and Greasys
Do you follow the moon signs when you plant as well?
