You know, Camodo, everyone else has been telling you the solution. You need to set up the bigger diesel on the line you want it on and then use the smaller diesel as the switcher. You're not taking it anywhere, but it'll still move stuff.
Also, after you do so, make sure to move it off the main lines. You're more likely prone to forget about it plow straight into it. I'm mentioning this under the pretext that should multiplayer ever come out for this game, you may or may not want to forget the Jank Switcher Train's last known location when OB's testing for an Engineer position.

Idea: Create the longest train you can, then go full speed and speed off a mountain into a river.
Idea 2: Get 2 trains going in opposite directions at full speed and make them run into each other.

Yeah sander exists.. It costs money in damages when you wheel slip.
In reality you NEVER want to disconnect the air lines by hand, just the coupler. We have a saying in railroading "Don't turn a glad hand into a mad hand". The pressure in the line even with the angle cocks closed is still enough (90 psi) to cause the hoses steel end (the glad hand) to kickback into your face and you can imagine what the results would be.. but since this is just a game, it does not matter.

hey camodo gaming for your information you should never unhook air hoses with your hands. that locomotive (an american one) the air hoses sit at 80 psi. so turn off the valves and unhook the coupler and drive away for a realistic resault

The diesel has many, MANY buttons. There are three levers, one is the hydraulic brake, the other is the way you control if your going forward, backward, or idle, the third is speed, crank it to your left to control it. Bit I don't think you know which one is which, so yeah.
