The Panzer II AII, BII or CII (Pz.Kpfw. IIa IIb IIc) were limited production models and the Ausf A was the first version of the Panzer II to be built and several variants were made named AI and AII, but only 75 were produced from May 1936 to February 1937 by Daimler-Benz and MAN.
The BII variant was the second limited production vehicle, this version had reworked suspension components resulting in a wider track, longer hull, new drivetrain, engine and more armour, which resulted in a heavier vehicle and only 25 were produced by Daimler-Benz and MAN.
The CII saw the most upgrades on the suspension and six small road wheels with five larger independently sprung road wheels and an additional return roller were added making it look more like the Panzer II Ausf A that went into production in 1937.
The Panzer II Ausf D was developed as a tank for use in the cavalry divisions. It had a completely new hull and suspension system
but it was discontinued in favor of a new Flamme Panzer II project, and only a total of 43 were built from October 1938 through March 1939 by MAN, there was also a Ausf E version, but only 6 chassis were ever completed.
The Panzerkampfwagen 2 was originally designed as a stopgap tank, because the Panzer I wasn't capable of defeating armor. Development began in 1934 and production started in 1935.
But the Panzer II was already outdated in 1936, and had no protection against armour-piercing shells, wasn't designed for a modern battlefield and was designed with an WW1 mindset.
So over the years it was increasingly upgraded, specially the armour which changed the appearance of the vehicle from rounded to boxy shape, with the last Ausf F variant having 35 mm front armour and 20 mm side armour.
Even due the Panzer II was extremely outdated it was produced from 1935 until 1944 and 1,856 were made.
Several other variants were made like the Panzer II Ausf. L "Luchs" reconnaissance tank and a few Brückenleger (bridge-layer) and Bergepanzerwagen (recovery) versions were produced.
Another use for the obsolete Panzer II tank design was the chassis and it was used for the Marder II and the Wespe Self propelled guns.

Panzer II was hardly a garbage tank that most people think it was. The 20mm gun was found to be an ideal weapon for a reconnaissance vehicle in WW2 and far better than a single-shot gun of 37mm class. This is because it fired 10-shot cannisters, using any combination of HE or AP. It was a devastating gun, praised for its performance even in anti-infantry role. It proved effective against heavily-armored French tanks because the sheer volume of fire often caused their crews to bail out, even thou no damage was caused.
There was a reason why Sd.Kfz.234 armored cars started with 50mm gun, then they went back to the proven combination of 20mm + 75mm guns.
Panzer 2 was indeed a real backbone for the blitzkrieg operations. Its was fast, reliable , consume less fuel, easy for maintenance and good for recon
The tank that won the stunning victory in France 1940 (along with his good buddy, 38T)
My favorite early war tank
That tank marked the start of the best tank productions known to man.
panzer 2 was average, not amazing, not bad. unlike most nazi tanks which were quite bad except maybe the panzer 3 and 4.
You know better than anyone
@@nickb3164 Oh yes, I'm a good tank
1:52 Iconic.
Early war German tanks are often seen as weak and useless by most people but may i remind you that these were the vehicles that won all the stunning German victories during first few years of the war?Not the big cats.Sure late war German tanks were astronomically stronger and agile but let’s take a moment to appreciate these cute beats too. They were effective with adequate training and good tactics.
This was Great Well Done! 👍

Cute wittle Panzer
Also lmao at the person who is having a breakdown over this being colorised 🤣 like damn it's not that deep
There are a few people complaining about color footage when you actually can see the black and white footage on this channel but they act like I'm cheating people out of the orginal footage.
It has 20mm and paper armor. but was fast, lots of, the protagonist of the invade of france. Weak but strong.
С каким удовольствием он себе яичницу запихал. А потом сам как это яйцо там спекся
@@screwstatists7324 это не юмор вовсе. Это так и есть. Спекся этот завоеватель, как курица гриль в своей консервной банке.
