My baseball card room is about 50,000 cards (mostly baseball & hockey) in cardboard boxes stuffed onto shelves in a closet. Most are from 61-80. The boxes are these big tray-like boxes and are supposed to be acid free for good preservation, and hold 5000 cards each. I have ten of them. Probably haven't looked at them in 20 years, except an occasional peak to see if they're OK and to pull a few to make videos. Collected cards from 1968 when I was 6 years old, up till around 84-85, then quit. It was a nice hobby as a kid but got ruined when crooked dealers took it over. Since you're a Mark Martin fan, here's a story. Went to the 95 Brickyard 400 in Indy, the second Brickyard race ever. Was there for the weekend. It rained almost the whole time. On Friday, for qualifying, most of the day was rained out. Was leaving the track around 5PM, and cutting across the infield, I walked past this little guy who was getting into a car to leave the track. He was about up to my shoulder and I didn't pay him any mind. Then I saw a couple of fans go up to him and ask for an autograph. I turned around to see who he was & it was Mark Martin. Didn't recognize him at first. he signed for the kids and then drove away. So I could have had a Mark Martin autograph. Drivers probably aren't that accessible any more.
@PuffBear359 awesome! Thanks buddy for getting back to me. I am going to check ebay out for one now. Very nice looking for sure. Keep up the great videos!
Dear puff bear I am an old Brooklyn boy myself I'm 37 years old I now live in Louisiana about to open up my own sports memorabilia and card comic shop there is no store in my area Bastrop like that so I decided to start my own you're a great inspiration to more people than you know keep up the good work wish me luck
Wow, your card room is amazing. Hoping that one day I'd be able to have a place of my own that I could create something like this myself. I have a bunch of memorablia i'd love to display as well, let alone my card collection stuck in my safes.
Nice collection!!! you know you can open your own memorabilia shop with thee amount off stuff you have there glass cases filled with cards sweet and sell hobby boxes as well. are you still collecting
@TecmoBO34 Humidity KILLS the cards. They start to bend after time if they are exposed to the moisture. The cardboard actually sucks up the moisture in the room. Thanks for watching.
I'm curious as to what the humidifier is for? I ask for a reason. I still have an old ass swamp cooler in my house, and many times I have worried about the humidity harming my collectibles. Does the humidifier actually help prevent humidity in the room?
