lmfao this is going to flop so hard, just another passion project preying on peoples overactive imagination to be some anime hero. For the the backers I sincerely HOPE that this works out but this seems way too ambitious not to mention scammy. Like everyone in this comment section is talking about video games yet at 3:43 they explicitly say thats its not really meant for games but more so for office work. Like BRUH why the heck would I get this when I can get the Quest and have even more range of motion in bed AND while standing up to do just office work. If this is "HalfDive" tech then literally everything else on the market is well past it (at least 70%). The comparison and use of SAO terminology is also SUPER disingenuous to the fact that again this device apparently is not going to be meant for many games and they know what they're doing in that regard. All I'm saying is why are we bringing up games when this is allegedly meant to be more geared towards office work, which doesn't even make much sense either ffs. What makes this better than any other VR set currently out right now, besides the promise and constant pandering to the pipe dream of " FullDive" tech and SAO? In my opinion these guys are the furthest from realizing that vision and backer should beware.

@@TheDeeman25 Not meant for games such as half life alyx and such, some more suitable games would be vrchat, rec room, etc. even then vrchat and rec room offer many games that would be compatible with the full dive. Many other headsets lack the immersion that half dive offers, such as the vibrations in the actual headset itself or the fans and the resistance motors in the controllers, not to mention the amount of pixels in each eye (which stands on the same ground as the valve index) Imagine this, you get home from a long day of work or school, you don't feel like standing, halfdive offers the exact same experience but from the comfort of your own bed. Another prime issue would be the amount of room you need for average headsets, halfdive only requires a single bed. The range of motion on a quest isn't great either, in fact it very well might be the same or less than that of halfdive. The sensors on a quest are only on the front, not the back.
@@TheDeeman25 no need to be so rude and pressed. It’s good that are people trying to build new technologies. You have to understand the current VR sets you see being used by many people today took years to perfect, and it’s still not entirely perfect. The first ever VR sets that came out sucked really bad but they improved over the years. The Half-dive VR set may not meet your current expectations but it’s still a new step into VR technology. The Half-Dive VR set is different from others by being able to control everything in bed/laying down and requiring little movement. You don’t need space like other sets and you don’t need to stand up. This is beneficial for those who have little space and those who can’t stand and move for long periods of time. To you it may be a far stretch, but every technology has to start somewhere and improve from there. So let these people build what they want.
@@TheDeeman25 I completly agree with you this seem super scammy, i checked out their kickstarter vidios, its kind of a downgraded VR-Headset the mobility exchanged for laying down, i can see how it might be ideal for people who are hospitalized and sick *COUGH OR SEX GAMES*. however it won't be able to be what it claims or is based of, you cannot look down, nor behind you, nor move your arms behind you, if your okay with that i suppose this is for you. half dive is true to its name in that its only half the motion of normal movement and limited to that, i get that it might run smoother, and be more optimized but comparing it to *ITS THE NEW NERVEGEAR AND EVEN MORE REVELUTIONARY THAN A VR HEADSET* is false advertizement.
Ambitious can't even describe what this is. If you guys actually manage to reach a near level of a SAO like simulation of half dive, you guys will become legends in not only the VR industry, but tech history.
Finally something that will make my dreams of Sao become somewhat real, cant wait to see what else the future holds, maybe one day we can have real full dive, without the death of course
we will definitly just give it 20-30 more years thats if the great reset down mess things up and put in civil war against governments and lead to a dystopian era were government try to control the masses. But other than that it will happen
Taking a step back, this may be the best we got until neurotechnology is further developed. With Neuralink at the forefront, full dive may be achieved soon depending on the success of Diver-X.
Ok I change my mind what you said is so cool I’m gonna be a neurotechnology scientist (not to mention this is actually my interest and I was going to be it even without diver x)
@@maryann8794 Great! Continue to pursue it, I admire your goal of being a Neurotech Scientist and to achieve something similar, I believe in you! Regarding Diver-X however, I have posted another comment that would be too big for me to post here as a reply. It’s in response to their recent announcement on their website. A bit disappointed but also hopeful. Edit: UA-cam keeps deleting it for some reason, I’ll post it as a reply.
So here’s the comment they deleted… (Diver-X cancelled their production of the headset on January 30th for context.) You can see the announcement on their website. Summary: Diver-X in their recent announcement cited three reasons why they cancelled the release of HalfDive, all of which interconnect with each other. 1. After a recent analysis they have come to the conclusion that the HalfDive itself and its current specifications doesn’t help bring them closer to achieving their current goal of creating a “full-dive-like experience.” The current system of the HalfDive and it’s components would create a instability financially for the company so they expanded the audience (they foresaw not selling enough units.) The interface of the headset caused issues for gaming and in-bed workers which caused them to lose faith in the current design and it’s production. 2. The current organizational structure of the company regarding the production of the headset was flawed. They ended up needing to outsource designs of components for manufacturing which caused a increase of price for the company. The quality in turn for such components wouldn’t fit the select price range. This led to the inflation of the price for whole headset (much outside consumer affordability.) This affects the third reason. 3. Even with the current kickstarter and invest supports in place, they financially wouldn’t be able to cover the mass production. Any solution to optimize the current design wouldn’t help either because they were stuck financially (“we were not in a financially stable position to make sufficient improvements, and we decided that proceeding into mass production at this point would most likely lead to bankruptcy.”) They wouldn’t be able to deliver the product if they continued with production. They have since refunded all charges made on kickstarter in response to these issues. Fortunately they’ve had enough funds to take a step back and “start over” resuming development which would be more beneficial in the long term. They didn’t want to push the release of a product that was under quality, overpriced, and didn’t fulfill the experience guaranteed, this would cause you to lose faith in them as a company. Moving forward they still want to continue their initial pursuit of a “full-dive-like experience.” They are focused on fixing the current issues with the cash flow and organizational structure that led to the cancellation. I don’t speak for the company, this was just my raw shortened elucidation of the announcement they posted, again I implore you to visit their website and read it for yourself.
@@maryann8794 On the bright side, they haven’t pulled away from this project I can ensure you, even if it was cancelled it shows the consumer interest (with the kickstarter breaking their initial goal overwhelmingly) and is essentially a “proof of concept” with how far they have gotten with the headset especially with current limitations in technology. Even with the cancellation, they have merely focused on resuming development and will continue to iron out the issues for future versions they may release. Perhaps 10 years from now we could very well have Nervegear if other companies jump in or if Diver-X makes a breakthrough. I don’t want to say get your hopes up but if people have taken notice to a small project like this then certainly there is a future for it!

I use my normal VR Headset (HP Reverb G2) sometimes in bed too. I flap up the back strap to lay my head on the pillow. Is pretty nice for watching videos or playing primitive browser games on Virtual Deskop on a virtual 3m curved monitor above me. It makes sense to play zero gravity games in bed as well, but I am limited in head movement with my setup. So this Half Dive solves this issue in Bed VR. Another problem is that some menues, especially the Steam ingame menue always stay in the horizontal, forcing you to lift your head.
However, I probably would not buy this as I personally think that most games make sense playing standing (there is no standing mode planned, right?) and I can take a bit of natural workout with it. Are the foot controllers position tracked? Because one needs fast foot movement for ducking in Beat Saber and Pavlov. However, I would buy the mechanical Gimbal setup to fit my existing VR Headset in it. For more head movement in bed. For astronaut games.
