here's the story, in 4th grade we had a mentally unstable band director, and he didnt actually teach a whole lot, he could ramble, somtimes incoherently, and every few days, he would come back with a different personality. it may have been an act, but he was also addicted to caffeince (4-5 cups of coffee every few hours)
he didnt last an entire year though, I remember him yelling at a student for making a lot of mistakes, and he slammed ona glockenspiel, breaking a few keys (he was a big guy)
He recieved many complaints from parents (even mine lol) and was fired.
the following year, we had a new band director, who was much nicer, but many of us quit because we didnt have the dedication to continue after the previous guy was pretty much an asshole to us all.

I played trumpet for a bit before I gave up and chose clarinet. I learned how to double tongue on clarinet (and ofc you kinda have to find that balance b/w using the tip of your tongue and your whole tongue I found that using just below the tip was good for me. It might vary based on the preference and level of the player) and it was easy-ish. Was awkward as hell tho cause who tf likes the feel of the clarinet reed vibrating immensely on the tip of your tongue?PLUS because you're double tonguing on a reed instrument, as you said, the embouchure gotta stay tight so your jaw cramps up a lot when I was practicing this. On a funny note though, a few times I actually yawned in the middle of practicing the double-tonguing for so long cause my throat and jaw were so open (at the time I was just starting to practice) so it simulated the thing where you open your mouth for a while and after a few seconds you start to yawn xD very funni...
