HOW TO CHOOSE A CENTERPIN ROD! Fixed reel seat or Sliding ring reel seat? What’s the difference?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I only have fixed reel seats but they are custom made to my preference. I like the seat half way or middle of cork, I find that if the seat is too far up, the butt end of the rod keeps getting caught in my vest. I like the butt section to end at my elbow when I hold the rod and reel. I had sliding rings before and it came apart and dropped my pin. A lot of people use electrical tape to fasten the slinging rings but that looks cheesy in my opinion. Regardless of what you chose, rod has to be balanced as you mentioned because if it’s not, your arms will get tired especially if it’s tip heavy. Great video my brother. God Bless!

When’s it’s cold like this, I prefer the sliding rings. When it’s cold, your already touching the cold aluminum real. But if you have you only have sliding rings your only touching the cold reel and not a aluminum reel seat if you were to have a fixed seat rod.
