2020 was a great year for kdramas. I'm including Crash Landing On You in it although it started in 2019. One underrated one was Hi Bye Mama which is one of the most powerful and moving pieces of work you will ever see.
Speaking of Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, I find it hilarious that they managed to make the stunningly beautiful Lee Sung Kyung look frumpy (mostly, not completely).

Signal was my first..loved the acting. One that I can't believe no one has mentioned.. Hospital Playlist.. two great seasons and I'm crushed there won't be a third. For those who liked Hotel De Luna and IU's performance, she kills it it My Mister. Some of the best acting and storytelling I've seen from the entire cast!! If your heart doesn't break.. you don't have one.
My first was Winter Sonata, followed by Autumn in My Heart and Summer Scents. Winter Sonata would always be first in my heart. In the next place I like It's Okay It's Love - Goblin - A Piece of Your Mind & Healer equally. Then comes Full House and Coffee Prince

For beginners, you must watch while you were sleeping, this drama has all kind of emotions and not just a typical rom com drama but more than that. The ost, cast, script everything is so perfect. While You Were Sleeping, I thought, had amazing writing, the acting, and the cast, were all so GREAT! The first episode blew me away, as did many subsequent ones, but I felt that that episode could stand on its own, it was just so captivating. There haven't been too many other series' that captured my interest, so completely, in the very first episode! I loved it, too! It's one of my very favorites.

After a few episodes, I thought--OK--each episode is going to be about another ghost, their story, and how they are helped (pretty much), with some of Jang Man-wol's backstory thrown in, here and there. The King's Affection has a very original story. I loved all the actors, especially the main couple and the charismatic and mysterious body guard. I was emotionally hooked to this drama.

Just came across a good /Great older drama called "Wind in the Palace" over 75 episode's but I really enjoyed every minute. Check it out - I think it was just added to Viki. Excellent in every way, suspense, romance, friendship, and it's another story about the Crown Prince San whose grandfather thought his son betrayed him as in "Red Sleeves", which was also about the same King, Crown Prince, betrayal of course - the usual Palace intrigue going on behind the scenes trying to get rid of the competition for the thrown. There were several actors I had never seen or heard of before - but very good actors and actresses and good looking. I'm still amazed at allow k km how very well written and acted these drama's are. For anyone starting out in K-dramas and is interested in a slice-of-life, nostalgic, coming-of-age stuff, please give REPLY 1988 a try. You will become a better person after watching this (well, at least from my experience)😊❤ Each episode is tighly written and well-excuted. Each character shines and has something to say. The story is layered with different lessons without sounding too preachy. And yes, it's acting-wise, too. A solid k-drama. Clearly a must watch!❤😊

But what I liked about Reply 1988 is that it handles the second lead well. We were able to know the guy's perspectives and realizations. The writer is just a plain realist. I don't want to spoil people tho. So, I leave it here.😅

I started watching kdramas with fantasy supernatural rom-coms, I love them more. Still dramas like It's OK to not be OK are on my top favorites.
Scarlet Heart Ryeo is definitely better than a lot of the dramas that made it onto the list. It has a cult following not rivaled by most of the top 20. It’s truly a classic. Thanks for mentioning it.
Am a newbie and am addicted. Started with squid game, then Black, then Goblin and Vincenzo and was hooked from then on. Once you start watching you cant let go, so addictive.
That's exactly what happened to me, watched 1 and got addicted the more I watch, the more I love them. They are so much better written than the crap on American TV. I'm so sick of re-makes of re-makes. Every show I liked the took off the air like Criminal Minds, Numbers, I loved the Resident but now that one the leading lady has left - not so much. I also loved New Amsterdam but 2 of the main characters are supposed to be leaving so not sure if this is the end of the show. Loved 24 - gone, loved Bones -gone, Loved NCIS - now kind of bored and Blacklist was great now not so much. Loved Royal Pains - Gone, Loved the new Hawaii 50 - Gone. Not impressed with any of the current shows except America's Got Talent. General Hospital just lost 3 of my favorite Characters. It's was the one show I looked forward to every day not that sucks, hate the new Spenser and the got rid of some of the best talent - 1',m guessing they'll be gone too.

Honestly, I think Crash Landing on You is a great introduction to Kdramas…it has a little bit of everything🥰 These are not on anyone’s list but, “I’m not a robot” and “Dali and the cocky prince” are so entertaining, fast moving, well acted and well executed stories that have become my favorites, so far👏🏻👏🏻 Honorable mentions: Pinocchio, The smile has left your eyes👍🏻

Great list...but, don't forget...Boys Over Flowers (a must watch for KDrama fanatics), Healer, The K2, Hotel King, Personal Taste, The Legend of the Blue Sea, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, A Gentleman's Dignity, City Hunter, My Roommate is a Gumiho, and Tale of the Nine Tailed...all of these should be on a fan's must watch list...and my most favorite (although a CDrama and not a KDrama)...GO GO SQUID.
I liked Reply 1988 and Prison playbook more than any kdramas I have watched. And for romance dramas Its okay not to be okay, 25-21, and lastly goblin were my favorite.
*Fight for my way* is the best kdrama i have watched till now ..plot is simple yet inspiring drama felt so real that you'll feel that it's not hypothetically created and we are watching our young generation struggling to do what we have imagined to do ...... even the chemistry between main lead is amazing and cute

Stairway to heaven was my very first, and then random kdramas on the Korean channel in Hawaii. "Five enough" and "My golden life" brought me into watching kdramas on a regular basis again, and now I am addicted to Netflix dramas. They are so good!!! I recently started Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. And I am so happy its on the list. Its a really good show and beginner friendly.
Speaking of Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, I find it hilarious that they managed to make the stunningly beautiful Lee Sung Kyung look frumpy (mostly, not completely).

While You Were Sleeping, I thought, had amazing writing, the acting, and the cast, were all so GREAT! The first episode blew me away, as did many subsequent ones, but I felt that that episode could stand on its own, it was just so captivating. There haven't been too many other series' that captured my interest, so completely, in the very first episode! I loved it, too! It's one of my very favorites.

Just came across a good /Great older drama called "Wind in the Palace" over 75 episode's but I really enjoyed every minute. Check it out - I think it was just added to Viki.
Excellent in every way, suspense, romance, friendship, and it's another story about the Crown Prince San whose grandfather thought his son betrayed him as in "Red Sleeves", which was also about the same King, Crown Prince, betrayal of course - the usual Palace intrigue going on behind the scenes trying to get rid of the competition for the thrown. There were several actors I had never seen or heard of before - but very good actors and actresses and good looking. I'm still amazed at allow k km how very well written and acted these drama's are. Thanks for sharing , ❤️🌹

For anyone starting out in K-dramas and is interested in a slice-of-life, nostalgic, coming-of-age stuff, please give REPLY 1988 a try. You will become a better person after watching this (well, at least from my experience)😊❤ Each episode is tighly written and well-excuted. Each character shines and has something to say. The story is layered with different lessons without sounding too preachy. And yes, it's acting-wise, too. A solid k-drama. Clearly a must watch!❤😊

But what I liked about Reply 1988 is that it handles the second lead well. We were able to know the guy's perspectives and realizations. The writer is just a plain realist. @Lotus Red I have watched it , but comparing to other fantasy kdramas it was not up to my expectations. I didn't like the way it ended and there was less romance but I love her attitude. I started watching kdramas with fantasy supernatural rom-coms, I love them more. Still dramas like It's OK to not be OK are on my top favorites.
Scarlet Heart Ryeo is definitely better than a lot of the dramas that made it onto the list. It has a cult following not rivaled by most of the top 20. It’s truly a classic. Thanks for mentioning it.

Am a newbie and am addicted. Started with squid game, then Black, then Goblin and Vincenzo and was hooked from then on. Once you start watching you cant let go, so addictive.
That's exactly what happened to me, watched 1 and got addicted the more I watch, the more I love them.
They are so much better written than the crap on American TV. I'm so sick of re-makes of re-makes. Every show I liked the took off the air like Criminal Minds, Numbers, I loved the Resident but now that one the leading lady has left - not so much.
I also loved New Amsterdam but 2 of the main characters are supposed to be leaving so not sure if this is the end of the show. Loved 24 - gone, loved Bones -gone, Loved NCIS - now kind of bored and Blacklist was great now not so much. Loved Royal Pains - Gone, Loved the new Hawaii 50 - Gone. Not impressed with any of the current shows except America's Got Talent. General Hospital just lost 3 of my favorite
Characters. It's was the one show I looked forward to every day not that sucks, hate the new Spenser and the got rid of some of the best talent - 1',m guessing they'll be gone too.

My first drama was Empress Ki, 51 episodes but great story with beautiful sets. Loved Ha Ji Won in it, very powerful woman role. So I had to watch The King 2 Hearts, relationship between North and South Korea was extremely interesting. There’s so many that are great. More recently, loved Move to Heaven. Lovers of the Red Sky, Uncanny Counter, Navillera, Sweet Home, The Kings Affection to name a few..

These are not on anyone’s list but, “I’m not a robot” and “Dali and the cocky prince” are so entertaining, fast moving, well acted and well executed stories that have become my favorites, so far👏🏻👏🏻

Great list...but, don't forget...Boys Over Flowers (a must watch for KDrama fanatics), Healer, The K2, Hotel King, Personal Taste, The Legend of the Blue Sea, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, A Gentleman's Dignity, City Hunter, My Roommate is a Gumiho, and Tale of the Nine Tailed...all of these should be on a fan's must watch list...and my most favorite (although a CDrama and not a KDrama)...GO GO SQUID.

I liked Reply 1988 and Prison playbook more than any kdramas I have watched. And for romance dramas Its okay not to be okay, 25-21, and lastly goblin were my favorite.
*Fight for my way* is the best kdrama i have watched till now ..plot is simple yet inspiring drama felt so real that you'll feel that it's not hypothetically created and we are watching our young generation struggling to do what we have imagined to do ...... even the chemistry between main lead is amazing and cute

Stairway to heaven was my very first, and then random kdramas on the Korean channel in Hawaii. "Five enough" and "My golden life" brought me into watching kdramas on a regular basis again, and now I am addicted to Netflix dramas. They are so good!!! I highly recommend "When the camelia blooms" and itaewon class!!!
